To My Children

Let it be told to my children and grand,
This fact he found their father who's gone;
''Fight the foe heart by heart, and hand by hand,
Then victory share and guard the throne:

Sometimes you may (but that's not the end) be knocked down.
Now share the defeat- but don't quit the fight against defeat;
With joint hands again and brave begin at the break of dawn,
Without tire to tear the foe and his fountain, and them bring beneath your feet.

Not twice not thrice this way I tried with brother and friend,
With love and bond the foe we fought together as one;
Sometimes we failed but again we tried, and mark you, at the end,
I tell you my men the dragon we downed, and battle won.

And you my children I love; so I pray that Providence
Will guide so well your designs and deeds, and guard them too;
That yours will be success exceeding, and forever and hence,
To Omnipotence's glory, and profound joy for me and you.''
