I'm Sorry

I’m sorry that I burned the pie.
I’ve tried so hard to fix it.
I would have made another but
It is so hard to mix it.
I’ve scraped it and I’ve dusted it
And covered it with cream.
I hope it will be tasty and
A true pie lover’s dream.
So if you squint a little bit
When tasting that first bite,
You’ll hardly know that it was burned,
Though tasting scorched, a mite.
I was so tired of hearing of
Your mother’s perfect pies
That I thought I’d make one better
And cut hers down to size.
So now just take a little bite,
I’ll give you points for tryin’
And if you tell me it is good,
I’ll give you more for lyin’

Oh this is very good. Reminds me of my attempts at trying to measure up to my mother-in-law's famous chocolate chip cookies... I finally did, or perhaps he was 'lyin'. Great poem. Congratulations!

this was so cute and so real. and shows the submission of wives of latter year to cooking. an honorable responsibility handed down by generations. death to the inventor of tv dinners. the changer of modern society. and the destroyer of the home. at least you tried. john

Good one.. This one surely reads like a winner to me..My mother said that she ruined the first pie that she made.. She did not let anyone know that she did it but told of it later..She fed it to the chickens so that no one would see the mess..I am glad that I chose this one to read this eve...Merry Christmas..Sara
