Love Scattered

The painting on the wall has faded just like your love for me, I see it, your eyes tell it so vividly… The glint is gone, They don’t light up, When I enter the room anymore These days I don’t even get a second glance… It is like I am part of the furniture, The novelty has worn off… Whatever happened to me being your world? I never thought this would be our end game, I still love you but your love for me has faded. Slowly but surely, we are no more, Our love no longer a priority... I am tired of being in a relationship with myself, The one who does the talking, The one who reach out first, You no longer yearn to touch me… Feeling like a byproduct Of a once beautiful union Now jaded, no longer needed…

i remember that look comming from april when i came into the room. but thats not why i loved this poem. it's because you were brave enough to tell me how you feel. i pretend for just a little while that your mine. and the next time i see you what a surprise will be on my face. as i come and meet you when you walk in the door. Looking at the comments below, I guess that people realize this poem is for a contest even though it isn't stated openly....goes to show how much I am out of the loop here at the soup. This poem is sad and raw, but you wrote it very well. The emotion and frustration is just oozing out of the lines~Chris

So many people, especially young ones, enter relationships thinking the infatuation will last forever. If it is not truly love, the "novelty" wears off quickly. Very insightful poem, Wilma. Best wishes in John Heck's contest with this moving and beautifully written poem. Love and blessings, Carolyn

The haunting and sad mood of this poem will touch others who feel a kinship to these same feelings....when love seems to fade, and hearts break in the wake of that loss. So heartfelt. Well written, Wilma. ~ love, Carrie
