To the Battlefield I Go

My soul to be swallowed by the affinites of
                         darkness and despair,
It seems like ever God has put me up against the world
                         to see how I fare.

Slowly effecting my life
Is the abyss of the dark.
This illness is disintegrating me,
And leaving its mark.

Soon, even Death shall come along and
                         take his toll.
All the demons of hell flutter in and
                         resume their roll.

Light is only a mile away,
And in me I can find the key.
It is this very light
That will guide me.

Even the Seraphs of heaven can not come
                          and rescue my soul.
Within me is the dagger to save myself,
even if it be so dull.

So with this key,
And this knife.
I free my soul
From toil and strife.

So to the limitless battlefield I go; without shield,
                          without a gun.
But I march forward and continue to trek on, never
                          stopping my run.

I battle for years
And years on end.
Until even darkness
Can become friend.

But although as deceitful
As he may be,
I have the light
And I have the key.

So with a quick stab
I deliver the final blow.
I am my master,
You reap what you sow.
