Sounds of Splendor

Sounds of Splendor

Some say songs soothe the savage beast
On gentle melodies I feast
Sensual pleasures increase

Swing me, sway me, elevate me
Joyful psalms can jubilate me
Your lyrics stimulate me

Rock, classical or jazz
Reggae, soul and blue grass

Music always resonated
Wind songs man has emulated
Across Earth unabated

Primitive tribes made drums and flutes
Melodies traced to early roots
Angst is quelled, anger dilutes

Harmonies reign in grace
As all cultures embrace

The beauty of song unifies
Turning enemies to allies
Play set chords or improvise

All arts bring beauty to our lives
Song styles change but music survives
So much pleasure we derive

Singing in unison
Tunes from the musician

Hi Carolyn. A lot of work gone into this testing exercise and boy, it works. From a musicians view it verifies what I have always preached, that we all would be missing something in our lives without music . Great write. PS. 'Regrets' is not autobiographical. The good wife is hale and hearty, thank God but I seem to be attending a lot of my peers funerals lately. Thanks for your interest, Your comments and most of all your writings. Eamon

Your tone and words flow in a gentle melody in this one. A very good projection. You hit the nail on the head with your interp of my poem. Three years is nothing after 80 have just flown by. It's nice to alude to something and have the reader catch your meaning. Charles
