About This Poem

Morning Walk

Sometimes when I need to get away
I know a place
Where nature
Has protected its own
Miles and miles away
There is a beach
Flat and narrow
As a light brown ribbon stretching
Out to forever.

I want to be there
At first light
Coffee in hand
Smelling the fresh air
Walking along the deserted stretch
Listening to the rhythm of waves breaking
On shore
Overhead
Noisy seagulls
My only companions.

Way off in the distance
Is another solitary figure
A dot on the beach
Walking slowly
Nearby a dog running up and down
Barking in the wind.

In silence
I watch
The sun suspended over the ocean
Like a beautiful picture
There is no more for me to do this morning
But to witness the beginning of another day.

the vision you are giving me.. makes me long for the same thing... if only i lived near the beach.. smell the air, listen to sea gulls and even the dog barking in the background... oh how i love that... i truly enjoyed reading this.. :) Lizann
