Moonlight
Creatures of the night feel
free to roam their woodland path,
under the cloak of black
that hides the earth,
Torn suddenly by a stab of light,
a full moon, shining crystal clear,
through roughly swaying claws
of almost naked trees,
Set within a cloudless sky,
a spotlight, the power of the ivory orb
casts shadows of the wild dance,
spurred on, by a bitter wind,
Causing the weary traveller
to turn up his collar and quicken his step,
grateful for nature's guiding light,
thankful to see home.
