BROKE MY CHILD'S HEART

Today was the day to register my little one for school
We left the school with him crying it was so cruel
He had to be 5 by Aug.1 but sept.8 is his birthday
Now he has to wait another year and I said no way

It brought his little eyes to tears
I tell you a mother's pride is a mother's fears
I feel so bad because he is so smart
Now we have to see if he qualifies for head start

I have no answers for him that's what really hurt me
As a mother and a parent this just shouldn't be
He cried all the way home what could I do
When all his little heart wants is to go to school

it will probably be better this way, I wish I had kept my son back a year in the beginning. He struggles, he has a late bday.

Good things come to those who wait...and if want, tell him he'll be the first kid to get his drivers license from his class, but he has to get good grades. Thanks for the comment and salutations faleshia.

Dear Faleshia, I remember when it was the first day for me to go to school. Although I was very keen to learn somethig (I already could read and write by that time) I told my Mom ok I saw everything and it is ok, but now I wanted to go back home and I even did not want to sit down or to get out of my coat! Nicely penned this one! Than you for your comments and have a nice weekend...Gert

Those rules are so messed up, Faleshia. I am very lucky. I am a Sept. 5 baby. But in MY day, we didn't begin school until right around that time of the year, so I was able to begin right at the start of my age 5. Beginning in Aug is a joke. School should start in the fall! SEpt . kids deserve a BREAK. After all, your son is a Virgo and smart enough to start extra early. haha. LUv, andrea

I feel for u and your little guy Faleshia but my son too was born Aug. 31st and he has had the same issues all during his school years... your poem is sweet and sensitive to express both feelings and as a Mom I understand... everything in life is all about timing .. there may be a special teacher coming into his life to do a special thing for him ... luv ...
