The Maiden and the Knight

Once upon a time in a magical land where unicorns bathed in the waterfalls
There were many dragons that roamed the sky's, terrorizing the villagers
King Edwards had build a castle for everyone to live safe within it's walls
The rumors of the dragons attracted many men, skilled slayers and archers

The King being quite youthful was courting Hydra, a nobleman's daughter
Her beauty was known well throughout the kingdom as to be the fairest
However suspicion that she had fallen in love with the brave knight Drakkar
The King devised a plan to get rid of this Knight and reclaim Hydra's interest

Ordering a midnight attack at the catacombs as the dragons were sleeping
His fearless and worthy men rode into...

    you to Mitch how could you. there was no warning that you where going to leave us hanging. now i want to know the end of this one, a dragon freak am i, can't wait to read the rest later,..p.d.

    I could see this as a piece of narration for serious animation, not the slop that passes for it today on t.v., but something hand drawn like old Disney or the Fleischer Brothers a la Gulliver Travels 1939 or their superb Superman cartoons. It strongly reminds me of that. I like this. It should be a keeper for you. Regards, Gerard.

    Really enjoy the fantasy setting in your "leave them hanging" write, Mitch, complete with dragons, knights and unicorns. When writing such fiction, it is always difficult for me to come up with good names, but you selected well there too. (Reminds me of some of James Frasers' work and that's a big compliment.)
