Colour Blind
I sadly see this obsession for fairer skin
Can this possibly come from within?
I think Not!
Eaten by ignorance so unsocial. Caged.
Colours obsession so contrived and staged
Unborn psyche fed only white!
Fair skin supposedly gives you might
It fleshes out your eyes
Your judgement lies.
Lies deep in the fabric of your engineered mind
I chose freedom, I chose to be blind
Colour blind...I don’t mind
This poem is about fair skin preference in the South Asian community and how darker skinned
Asian are percieved as 'inferior' or 'ugly'.
