Footprints

Frothy waves stretch to kiss toes
Hikers plodding sandy coasts
Leaving imprints on the shore

Who journeyed here, perhaps this morn
As the orange orb created dawn
Summoning sun worshipers

Footprints far too large to fill
Descended down the shell-strewn hill
Then hugged the waves’ low tide

The retirement community
Sends scouts here daily just to see
If the sands of time still wait

Alas, they do, imprints remain
Sacrificed to sea when evening tide returns again

Their legacies erased each day
Another scout, another age
Will surely cast its prints anew

Love it - especially the old dears checking if the sands of time still wait. Great write, my friend. I read an Emily Dickinson poem today by chance - The only ghost I ever saw - and Sue and I wondered if the last two lines mean she's spooked (afraid to look behind her) or if she means she won't look back (knowing there's life after death or some such thing). I know you like her work - how do you interpret this one? Not long now before you'll be all at sea : )

Footprints. Evidence of a past moment frozen in time, unless like above it's along the shore line. Great Work Carolyn. Best Wishes Always, Bill

What a great idea and great and beautiful poem. Foot prints on the sand of time is the most popular lines, which flashed in my mind as soon as I started reading your beautiful and lovely poem. Beautiful on many levels. Thanks and many thanks for your wonderful comments and suggestions on my poem Boatman's Song. Hope you would like its part 12 also. With best wishes and love Ravindra
