Vision Quest – Horse and Rider

There are many moons
in the essence of too far –
a total eclipse,
if one just sees feet.
My skin expands with the heat
of my ancestors
in this endless space;
visions come to me boldly,
like mid-day lovers,
blooming on canvass
as if midnight lined my dreams
on a turquoise road.
I come for the walk,
and the answers that whisper
from many strange moons.

Inspired by Abe Lopez's Native American Ekphrasis, T.C Cannon Tribute Contest. :)

Painting by T.C Cannon entitled, Horse.

Connecting to nature and our ancient relatives is the essence of vision trips. To travel while staying still. You did a beautiful job of capturing the essence.

Wow, love the painting you chose as your poetry deeply enhances it! What you get from a painting is a gift to us in words. Creative mind of vision, master of poetry, an enormous combination. Powerful feelings evoked. So well done. Love, Shar

You guys are all writing some wonderful poetry dedicated to our Native American brothers and sisters. It's about time they were given to instead of always having to give up. God Bless. Ron
