You Say....
you say you love me….
would you kiss these lonely lips
wanton and aching
with all the passion they long for
(begging
and lust hungry red)
would you touch this starving body
with hands as desperate to caress
as this needy skin pines for
roaring out thunder in its fire
bursting flames of desire
tell me…would you love me
like it’s the first time
(like the one you never forgot)
hold me in arms tough enough
to weather these lightning storms
I am told they can be quite tempestuous
is this forever…I want to know….
eternity is a long time….
is there a guarantee that it won’t end
with my brown eyes weeping
lost amid the drift of solitude
wailing out regret for trusting
tears of raw ripping blood
that fall beneath the ocean
(I formed at my feet
with past scars)
will I watch the sun shine fade out
on a windy shore fraught with storms
as you ride off into the sunset
just a ghost now of that perfect man
that once said he “loved” my heart
now astride a black stallion
a wild dash out of here
legs clenched to muscled sides
as he gallops out of sight
my heart broken in disrepair
eternity is a long time....
what if I were to fall…a blind plummet
do you have the strength to catch me
do you have the patience it takes
to endure this wild red headed girl
with sad eyes and strange laughter
tumbling out at odd times
“confusing and exasperating”
contemplating universal concepts
at inconvenient times
when you find it least interesting
tell me can you endure
you say you love me….
will you reach through the clamor
of a naked heaven
black and bruised
and capture my heart
like a strong man can
and hold it in work rough hands
(the heat may burn your palms)
a timid hummingbird
that wants to fly a free sky
but wants to stay inside your arms
always battering the cage of its prison
so tell me
do you love me?
eternity is a long time…..
