Dead Batteries
I have no memory from before that first spark
Before animation brought me out of the dark
Suddenly becoming deliciously awake
Not yet part of the fun but eager to partake
Bursting forward with boundless energy and vim
Ready to entertain when summoned by a whim
At first, loved and cherished above any and all
But time has diminished my power to enthrall
Placed upon a shelf, the novelty has faded
Used up and forgotten, abandoned and jaded
Waiting in vain for a recharge, for renewal
Struggling to extract the last trace of fuel
Vitality fades, despair, my future in doubt
Stagnant existence until the faint light blinks out.
