Elusive Memory

I remember well
the last time
we shared a cup of coffee,
or was it tea?

I remember well
the blue dress you wore,
or was it purple?

I remember well
our last conversation.
You were worried about your mother,
or was it your sister?

Then, you were gone, forever.
I remember that perfectly.

Every moment should be saved
as if it were the last moment,
so that memories when taken
from the back pocket of the mind
can be looked at clearly,
moved from hand to hand,
given a spit shine,
held close to the heart,
before putting back
for a later time.

This reminds me of a very old song. Sometimes my kids will do something that cracks me up and I think I will never forget it but I do, maybe I need a bigger back pocket. Thanks for the sweetness of the read.

This is written from true wisdom. Life's hardest lesson to learn (in my opinion) is to appreciate and cherish what we have before it is gone. The harsh reality is most of us learn this the hard way and far too late. Wonderfully written and soul touching. Smiles from Lolita

I enjoyed this and truly feel like that. You never know what words will be your last, and they should mean something to someone, in a good way. Or at least I hope......Aleera
