Living a lifetime

Scared of hurting others
Compliant to the core
Seeking the approval
I found it such a chore

Standards set in stone
Because of goals unmoving
That is not for me
I don’t need approving

I know right from wrong
In me, I place the faith
And even when I screw things up
I look them in the face

At least I’m ever chancing
My eyes are wide open
I am not afraid to speak
Of times I have been broken

Not afraid to feel my pain
It’s almost like a pleasure
Making scars into my life
And memories I can treasure

And when I pass on through
A life time I’ll have lived
No regrets or punishments
Understanding what I did
