Clay pipes give birth to bouncing orbs
frolicking, glassy, soapy, slippery delights
chased by golden haired cherubs who shriek
with merriment and poke chubby fingers
at balls of glistening wetness
suspended spheres of liquid light
bump onto dog's noses who snap at empty air
as helter skelter, they fly
high into a teasing breeze
as pop! and their short lives
are quickly ended in wet patches
on a neighbor's driveway..
as startled children say
'Is that all there is?'
