Fighting away January days.
These are not times to cherish.
Standing out on the bay,
watching distant greeney perish.
The New Year welcomed by the cold,
it's hard to muster hope
everything I had, I've sold,
it's a struggle just to cope.
Across the water, a new president strides in
promising change and better times ahead
the white house has a new harem
and time will tell, if he is what he said.
Alas, here in Blighty, people look to the floor,
Here, Jack frost reigns supreme
perhaps, I'll get away to El Salvador
on this crowded platform, one can only dream.
