December Sun .

December sun that hangs so low
To crawl across dim Winter cloud .
You were our friend six months ago
And wrapped me in your Summer shroud
Of coloured gardens , full of bloom
That scented life
In my living room .

The long cold shadows that you cast ,
Like the frosted breaths of early morn
That linger ..., yet , but never last ,
Like some dark and dreary love forlorn .
Memories of your crisp, clear cold
Long Winters past
Wrapped , but still unsold .

December sun of blinding light
No takers for your offer , here .
Your short day and your long cold night
The dying throes of one more year .
Your only pal , the Winter snow
Is children's friend
And farmer's foe .

Sean, Not only are you able to write funny poems, but very excellent "REAL LIFE" poems. Your words flow perfectly. The rhyming is exact, and overall this poem brings delightful imagery even when about a chilling winter. You are talented... very talented. Keep writing. Love to you, Dane

This December Sun is great, fabulously written, beginning to sound like Wordsworth himself. Lovely scenes of winter. Regards Déirdre

I like this. I still love the beach, the sun, and want to live where I don't need a shovel (that leaves Washington out but it ain't snow). Vince

Though you are not a happy winter camper, your poem is mostly one many can relate to. At least the children are happy in the snow (me too!) as I hope we actually do get a descent snowfall in this year, not so far. I do understand the season holds it's disadvantages as your poem so well points out, but remember, time flies by so quickly and soon enough that sun will be your kindest friend once more. Maybe the winter sun is not bright or warm enough Mr. Kelly, but you make up for that.Love, Shar

Waaaaaah! I miss the summer....."long cold shadows" is quite accurate. I love the line "like frosted breath of early morn, that linger, yet never last" beautiful, oh gifted poet...ending is great! So, multi talented one....I must now go in search of some meditation....hope I can find a WARM spot....
