From here to eternity

I am abandoned on this moonless night
What little remained of this once bright life
Seems, finally, to have faded from sight
Nightmares and black dreams, once rare, are now rife

This space around me used to be so large
But walls press a little closer each day
My waking hours are spent on just one charge
To push them back and hope this time they’ll stay

In lands beyond this world I find some sun
Where misty rivers flow to salty sea
On willow banks my heart and I are one
And from the pain of here I am set free

So now the mission that I have to face…
Is make that land become the only place ~

Lovely work though sad. Nigel a bit of alliteration would be cool too.

Lovely, Nigel. Sad and introspective yet so perfectly written and beautiful in its own right(or should I say write?lol). I like puns. Keep pushing those walls (or get a sledgehammer) and writting your wonderful poetry. Love Robin

Beautiful sonnet, Nigel, and I especially love the third stanza and the line "Where misty rivers flow to salty sea". Thank you so much for your comments on my poem "Lament of the Philosopher's Hound" and all of your encouragement. I appreciate you so much! ~Juliane

Nigel this poem is as beautiful as it is deep - sometimes the feelings life gives us are not to nice to say the least - you were excellent in expression of your feelings being one who writes through his heart and soul I know that must have felt good to get out - God Bless you, MJ
