Portrait in Watercolour

red hair
    cascading
       like a waterfall
          in rippling motion
          frames
           your precious face

                       mediterranean eyes
                       like mountain pools
                       on a moonlit night
                       reflecting the stars

                  soft lips
       moist like summer rain
glistening like dew on a rosebud
      warm as the sunset over
                 an ocean

         beautiful big heart
lake of love, tenderness and compassion
flowing from you like a wide river
        touching all those around you
             buoyed by the current
                of your kindness
                    and caring
                       nature

soul
honest
generous
deep
as
a
bottomless
well
rising
up
like
springs
heated
by
the
earth
bringing
healing
empathy
smiles
laughter

mind
a constant whirlpool of fluid thought
                                producing streams of wonderful words
       that tumble
                          with
                                  liquid
                                               purity
                               onto
                    the
                          page
          channelling my own thinking
   inspiring me

it is so dry here without you
how I long to bathe under that waterfall
how I dream of gazing into those mountain pools
my parched lips wait to be brushed by that sunlit ocean
my heart aches to be swept into that river
my body desires to drink from that well
my whole being is a vessel
sculpted and shaped to receive your precious waters
and protect them
for all time
