West Virginia

My home, the land of the rolling hills.
Where the trees embrace in mutual respect.
Who can truly understand the mystery of the hills without living among them?
I have learned much from the flowing waters.
I have spoken with the spirits of the earth.
I have discovered it's fiery soul.
I have sung with the whispering winds.
They have told me the same thing.
                      "I am STRONG,"
                      "I am POWERFUL,"
                    "I AM WEST VIRGINIA!"

Nice homage to natural beauty! I just got back from Colonial Williamsburg and it was a nice change of pace. It is good to listen to the "spirits of the earth" at times. Good luck!

Hi Leah, sounds devine. John Denver sang about that place as well, must be truly beautiful, or is it the love that you have for the place that makes it more so,,, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I enjoyed reading your poem. Hugs

What a fantastic read! The way you speak of conversing with nature brings imagery of the American Indians and the mutual respect they share with the earth. Simply lovely tone and flow in this read. Michael
