Wreckage Left Behind

As a crying plea for freedom,
And the painful chance for peace,
For the worth of the human race
It begs for the release.
At the chance of failure we sleep,
And dream about tomorrow,
But behind our sleeping eyelids
It ends in hate and sorrow.
It treads not on good or evil,
For that's only in our minds.
It only walks upon the wreckage
To the generations we leave behind.
May we all find the pureness in our soul
That hasn't been blackened by the past,
And turn our wrongs to rights
So the human race will last.
