Trust and Failure

Oh God my heart is broken
For my failure and my trust,
And now I see your shadow
In the dirt beneath the dust.
Yes I was your guardian,
Left with no peace of mind,
Because my trust had failed you
For the wont of being kind.

Oh God my heart is broken
For my failure and my trust,
If only I’d been crueler
And a little bit unjust,
This world would be much better
For both the likes of you and me,
Then the words both trust and failure
Would have never come to be.

Oh God my heart is broken
For my failure and my trust,
What should be our happy times
Have left me so nonplussed,
Now I must strive forgiveness,
And struggle with the pain,
From the words both trust and failure,
That must never blend again.
