I saw a man limping

I saw a man limping, with his neck turned about,
And I smiled and tried not to stare,
He struck me, he struck me with beauty and courage,
And these tears I cry are not tears of sorrow, or joy, or pain, or sadness, or healing,
But they flow nonetheless.
For I saw a man limping, and he walked with dignity.
And in that reckoning,
Let all know that God is love,
Let all know that heaven is real,
I saw a man limping, his body twisted about,
And he moved slowly,
Like my Savior on his way to the cross,
This cross I bear,
This cross he bears,
His wounds are real I tell you,
Touch them and feel the stars of night,
Caress your soul,
And be whole.
Amen.
