You Never Loved Me

Oftentimes I do confess
I would attest that you were the best
It appears that this was a delusion ,
Our love was just an illusion.

Your feelings seemed so intense
You didn't credit me with much common sense
How could I be so dense!

You brought me roses whenever we would meet,
I thought you were wonderful, kind and sweet
But you pulled the rug from under my feet.

I was your puppet and you my master,
I did not forsee impending disaster,
Your suit of armour didn't have achink
What was I to think?

I thought your terms of endearment were true,
I didn't have a clue
Until you left me for someone new.

Reflections

At night I see your smiling face,
As if the chains of our love were unbroken.
Your look of utter devotion pervades my sensibilities.
I know it's true for many have said,
That you died loving me alone.
Yet you never fought hard enough to let us know.
I guess that secret has gone with you forever.

I cry frequently when I reflect on those irretrievable moments.
At times I feel imprisoned in a bubble that no one can penetrate
Memories however can never be erased.
I have constant flashbacks to those days so many years ago.
I see you in my mind's eye,
You enthralled at the sight of your firstborn.
And your words "that's my precious"
Seem to reverberate in my brain.
Are you now watching over me?
After all, we were once man and wife.

Disillusioned

We pledged our vows before God and man,
But to have and to control was your only plan.
you wanted a mother certainly not a wife ,
Your verbal abuse nearly destroyed my life.
You wanted to be a father but only in name ,
This was all part of your devious game.
An uncaring parent that's what you were ,
Blood is thicker than water don't you know?
Whenever you sow your seeds,
You nuture them and ensure that they grow.
Marriage is not a fairy tale,
Where dreams just come true,
It's a lot of hard work and committment
you have to put in too.
So ponder on that before you answer the Lord,
Because as you know, he'ii always detect a fraud.

A Soft Place

You need a soft place to fall,
But that just isn't all.
He may be comfortable that's true.
And I guess he'll be faithful to you.
But sweetheart can't you see,
That is just not reality.

You need to spread your wings some more
But it seems that you've already closed the door.
I know that you are in pain,
But it is insane
If you re-enter into this relationship again.
I am your mother, I won't lead you astray,
When you make wrong choices you'll eventually pay.

He does control you baby don't you see?
So for heavens sake please listen to me!
Forgive me if you think I'm callous I'm not.
But you and your sister are the only precious gems I've got.

Ode To Anine

The angels smiled the day you were born ,
To your mother Janne and your father Shawn.
Everyone's dreams came true
And that Anine was because of you.

On the 23rd. of October you entered the world,
A momentous ocassion more priceless than gold.
Your ruby red cheeks , that cute little mouth,
That is really what life is about.

Those almond shaped eyes that cute button nose,
A combination of both parents I suppose.
You're truly a treasure and mummy's pearl
You're also daddy's adorable baby girl.
Big brother Henrik will protect you from harm
When he holds you tenderly in his arms.

Two loving hearts coming together
You really are birds of a feather.
You are the proof that true love reigns supreme,
By the timely arrival of this tiny human being.

What Is True Friendship

A true friend is one you can call night or day,
Who would listen to every word you say.
The hand that reaches out to hold your own,
That someone who never allows you to feel alone.
That warm embrace that makes you feel secure,
And soothe the heartache you can't seem to endure.

The laughter you share that dries those incessant tears,
That someone who always seems to dispel your fears.
That someone who helps with a kind word or deed,
That someone who caters to an urgent need.
A true friend will understand when you're in pain,
And stand besides you in sun or rain.

That someone who is unafraid to say you're wrong,
And gives good advice to make you strong.
Some may say true friendship is rare,
But I can emphatically declare ,
That I am blessed with friends who genuinely care.

My Valentine's Day Baby

Gabrielle my gift from above
The Lord showered me with his precious love
The day of your birth was a remarkable event ,
I know that you were heaven sent.
Your rosy pink cheeks were a sight to see,
No one could be happier than me.

The sight of your face just melted my heart
I knew from that moment we'd never be apart.
My Valentine's Day baby a dream come true
I got exactly what I desired and that was you!

Now that you've grown up and gone far away
At night as I kneel down to pray,
I ask the Lord to keep you safe
 In every way.

A Second Chance

Life is like a circle that really is true,
For here I am sitting talking to you.
If anyone had told me that ten years ago,
I would've laughed in their faces and retorted no!
Bitterness and anger can cause your demise,
Which to the trained mind is no surprise.
You've been an absentee father I don't know why,
I guess a lifetime has passed you by.
Were we the missing pieces in your puzzle of life?
Gone are those hurtful words that would cut like a knife.
Don't you think it's rather strange,
That a diagnosis of cancer brought about this drastic change?
Were you alone and adrift at sea?
I guess in times of crisis you do need your family.
The road to redemption is never straight,
There are many obstacles before those pearly gates.
I have learnt so many lessons in this period of time,
That to harbor ill will may be deemed a crime.
As for me, I scoffed at the idea of forgive and forget,
But now I've done it without regret.

My Dream

My dream is of a better world
Where rivers run free,
Where our waters are unpolluted
By debris thrown in by humanity.
Where crime is not known and weapons rare,
My dream is of a world
That overflows with care.

My dream is that we love each other,
Not by the colour of our skin,
But by the goodness that lies within.

Why is there envy?
Why is there hate?
Why shoud you be executed just standig by your gate?
Why mut there be famine?
Why must there be war?
We have repeatedly asked these questions before.

Parents lead and children follow,
That's not always the case as we already know.
My prayer is that one day all this will cease
Then we can envision worldwide peace.

Marguerite

You were like a delicate flower so fragile and pure,
But you would never bloom again as you did before.
Maggie my dearest friend,
We'd known each other since the age of ten.
No longer will I see that beautiful serene face ,
And in my heart there's an empty space.

We both married and went our separate ways,
Now I sit back and reflect on those days.
Whenever we met we had so much to say,
That it always took an entire day.

Our lives took a rocky course,
And after several years ended in divorce.
We were like sisters You and I,
I never thought that you would suddenly die.

I know that Mother Mary is standing with arms opened wide,
As she gently ushers you inside.
My devoted friend hear my urgent plea
That when my time comes,
Please keep a place in heaven for me.
