Think of Me

Think of me and smile
Our time was shortly spent
Think for just a while
Of all the things we meant………
To each other we were Love,
Laughter, Smiles and Joy
Think of all those things
Then think of us once more

Remember our first kiss
Remember our first time
Remember I was yours,
Remember you were mine
The things that we would say
The things we use to do
I heard you sing a song
I wrote a poem for you
Didn’t think we’d be together
Didn’t seek, but we did find
A precious hidden treasure
A love so true and kind

Now when the Angels come for me
My home now in the sky
Don’t hang your head in sorrow
For me don’t even cry
I will send a signal
And you will know the sign
The Sun will shine its brightest
The humming birds will sing
Midnight will be the darkest
Think of all those things

The wind will blow so gently
I’ll Whisper in your ear
You will smell the roses
And feel my presence near
For you have known my spirit
For you have only seen
The beam of light now shinning
A dream that came to be
So just in case you’re wondering
It’s not because I’m free
But that I caught you smiling
And I knew, you had thought of me.

Whats Broken

What’s Broken?

Some things that are broken can never be fixed
Like hearts shattered, as glass on the floor
What felt like love, don’t no more
No distance No time
No rhythm No rhyme
No song No Dance
No Coincidence No chance
Hey if distance only makes the heart grow fonder
What about time, It only makes you wonder
Like
What about that time we were together
At the place we use to go
You held my hand
I stared in your eyes
The telephone ranged us
Back to realty
Mic check one two one two
I looked back and where were you
Gone without a trace, or explanation.
It felt like a plan shot down from the sky
Or a child falling from a building
Right before your eye
Or a laboring mom with great anticipation
Only to be told that it was still born
Yeah that’s a heart breaker,
 Yeah that’s a Faith Shaker
Yeah that’s a breath taker,
 Lies Deceit
 Cries Defeat
 Who are we to judge?
What more can we say
If our heart got broken
We got what we deserved.

Hot Tea

Hot Tea

Must be the aroma
The smell of my tea
Peach, Berry or Green
No caffeine for me
I drink to unwind
To sit and release
To calm myself down
To set my mind free
Someday to snuggle
My big cup and me
To savor the day
To sit under a tree
To read a good book
To write a love poem
A sip from my cup
Hot tea is the bomb

Where I Come From

Where I’m from
Would you like to know
Where I was born
From whose seeds I sow
Not from the hill country
Where beautiful flowers bloom
Not by the river
Where brides marry in June
But I’m from a place
You’ve never been
I’m from the depths of hearts so true
I’m from the soul of hearts once blue
I’m from the joy of what’s meant to be
I’m from a place you dream to see
I am an angel
I’m from above
I was born in a city
But,
I come from love.

Just Being Honest

Just Being Honest

Just being honest, I thought I’d share
Before I saw you I felt your presence
It’s like that when two hearts beat real
Just like knowing someone is watching
Then you turn around and smile
Because I felt your spirit,
You made my spirit smile
Just being honest, I thought you should know
That even in a distance, on the other side of a room
I felt your heart beating, it pumps mine
Like being connected to life support
Or in the rain without an umbrella
Laughing uncontrollable, doesn’t matter
Because I saw you and we saw us
All was good, just being honest!

Outside Voice

“Outside Voice”

Silence aint Golden, it’s not what you think

My voice on hold, no freedom to speak

That’s thought provoking, can’t say what I feel

A mind boggling experience, it’s time to reveal

I can no longer sit idle; there are things to be said

You must hear me, these words in my head

There were choices to make, and you left me no choice

To say what is real, in my outside voice.

Train, It Wasnt

“Train”

What do I do when the train is coming?
I was standing on the track
My life flashed before me
As I thought, did I live like that?
Did I live my life in bondage?
Too afraid to share my dreams
Could have soared just like an eagle
But never used my wings.

Here I stand my legs are trembling
As warm tears drenched my face
The presence of death was visible
And fear invaded my space
I stood starring at that train
So sure that I would die
No hero there to save me
No time to say goodbye

Then Calmness fell upon me
A voice whispered in my ear
That’s not a train that’s coming
There is nothing for you to fear
I heard you screaming out my name
And so I took the evening train
If I had come right away
You’d thought your strength had saved the day

I waited til there was nothing else to do
But cry for me to rescue you
So I lifted your head and I dried your eyes
Gave you wings as eagles
My child you can fly
Your burdens are lifted
You have inner peace
What was lost, I gave Increase

Chains are now broken
Dreams can come true
Released from your struggles
Your life is brand new
Your story re-written
I say how it ends
Remember, I am your God
Now your life can begin.

Before Selma

Before “The March on Selma”, before it all began
James Orange was arrested; he was a giant of a man
It was Rumored they would lynch him
So the church gathered and they prayed
But once outside the temple, the authorities were outraged
They were meet with opposition and brutally beaten to the ground
Some ran as they were followed; Chaos was the sound
Three ran inside a café, thought shelter would be found
Protecting his mom from trouble, Jimmie Lee Jackson was shot down
Eight days later he would die; but his death gave us the fight
Our voice no longer silent unified for what was right
We wouldn’t ride the buses, together we would stand
And though their hearts were heavy, they walked hand in hand
Martin came to guide them, to Selma they would march.
To change the course of history, equality of every sort
Dr. King fought for our dignity, Pres. Obama now lives the dream
As we celebrate fifty years later, what does it really mean………

To be continued……………………….

Heart Shattered - Itty Bitty

Heart Shattered- Itty Bitty

As the sunset beyond a hill
Heart is shattered, nothing I feel
What is broken, can time mend
Where to start, how do I begin
And if night is darkest before dawn
Can it be true joy comes in the morn
Bluebirds will hum, and flowers will bloom
Again I’ll find love, don't have to be soon.

Silence

Silence

You took my breath away
Words I cannot say
You silenced my voice
Gave me no choice
But to be silent!
Say nothing at all
If I slip I might fall
Into that cycle that
Causes me to whisper
Forces me to reveal
What I refuse to.
Silence is golden
Maybe not, but silence is all I got.
