Jim Hamner Poem
Time steals our days and nights until its spin
Is curbed when thoughts revive our zest to be
Alive again. We must draw from within
Ourselves the joys of living truly free!
Go to music, it will soothe one’s spirit,
Meditate with nature free to savor.
Seek a poem, wisely choose a sonnet!
Anything that grants your mind more flavor.
Life exists amidst abundant pleasures.
Each must seize his moments of warming sun.
Fret not how one chooses his best measures,
Joys will travel with him until he’s done.
Are we joyful? Each must ask the question.
Search your heart to know its best direction.

Jim Hamner Poem
Yesterday we each took our noble journeys amidst a world of wonder.
A butterfly darted past a window, a redbird’s sweet song went unheard.
We quickly passed a dancing fountain shielded by intentions soon forgotten.
Yesterday’s rain – thrillingly fast or was it comfortably, peacefully slow?
Is a fast rain just something louder and wetter than any other rain?
Is a slow rain really only a natural occurrence different from a downpour?
On no! The magnificence of fast and slow rain warrants deep contemplation,
allowing our spirits to joyously grasp and celebrate what each is truly like!
Were there interesting clouds above our yesterday’s noble journeys?
So many things we just had to remember, so much we just had to do!
Those clouds, whether awesome or mundane, are forever gone from us.
But, God willing, tomorrow’s splendid sky gallery will again float its unique art.
We dare not grieve over yesterdays, instead awaken to tomorrow’s newest sun.
God has been willing and has granted us time and yet another chance.
Let’s understand what tomorrow’s rain is really like, how it smells, looks, feels and sounds.
Let’s honor tomorrow’s artwork in the sky that nature paints for every man who will look.

Jim Hamner Poem
Being open, as anyone who’s a poet well knows, is to be
Many things at any moment in one’s precious creative time;
Honest about feelings, expectantly aware of surroundings,
Grateful for life’s good things, and forever respecting artist and critic alike
When deliciously yielding to every chance to poetically tell it like it is,
And like it feels!
