Please Take the Time

So many times we see someone in need
Most walk by while they piteously plead
Plead for help that may not come
Plead for love because they have none
So many people just don't take the time
To support their fellow man
Like it's too much to be kind
Too much to give a helping hand
To someone who needs it, please take a stand
Stand up for the ones who cannot speak for themselves
Stand up for those who live their lives in hell
They need your help, you may be the one
That saves their life, think of your son
If he were in need and you not around
Would you want others to laugh at his frowns
To see him in need and lift not a hand
To help him up out of no man's land
You'd want strangers to aid him, I know that's true
But don't forget help can also come from you
We are all in the position to assist
I know you know that, but here's the twist
In helping others we also help ourselves
And that is a great reason in and of itself
It feels wonderful to help those in need
To sleep soundly knowing you did a good deed
So please when you see someone who has not a thing
Take time to help, it will make your heart sing

Leonardo Dicaprio

Dedicated to my love: Leonardo DiCaprio

For how many years have I loved you
I think it has to be about eighteen
We were both so young in those days
But I still longed to be your queen
With each film I fell more in love
With each role you reminded
"This is what true talent is made of"
Beautiful Leonardo
How keenly I feel
How much I love you
Probably too much, but still
You have shown true beauty
You have shown true grace
You're a perfect specimen
Of the human race
You are of the greatest actors
Of this generation and more
For there will never be another
That I so much adore

Where Are You Now

Where are you now, my baby girl
You came into my life and changed my world
I had you in secret because no one could know
To whom you belonged
Whose seed was sown
You had to be hidden away
So no one would find out
My terrible secret
The one that kills me now
I don't know where you are
I don't know where you've gone
I don't know how in this world
I will be able to press on
You have been gone so many years
You are an adult now
Unaware of your secret
Not knowing my vow
My baby girl I miss you!
Even though I have never seen your eyes
They took you straight from me
And told me it was wise
I wish I could have held you
Before they took you away
No matter what I will find you
And with me always you will stay

I have gotten so many comments to this end and I wanted to ease everyone's mind that this is not autobiographical. I wanted to sincerely thank everyone for their heartfelt concern, but there is no need. This is (for me) only a poem and has no bearing in real life. Thanks so much everyone!

Motherless

My mother believed kids should be seen and not heard
And that teens have no right to be sad
They contribute nothing, everything is done for them
What reason to be upset could they have?
She didn't seem to get that kids have feelings
And teenagers have more than most
It's no wonder I grew up emotion with no meaning
It's no wonder I grew up morose

Every day there was something else
Something that she would nit pick
Never could I do the right thing
I could never gain her acceptance
I was never pretty, smart or good enough
There was always someone better
And that is why I put her down
In the written form of a letter
"Dear Mother, you have never loved me
And I needed a mother's love
But it's too late now, don't even bother
You were no mother to speak of."
And with that I walked out of her life
With absolutely no regret
Now I am happier than I've ever been
But sadly motherless

Unlike mostly all of my poems, this is based on real life. 'Nuff said about that, the poem says all that needs to be said.

Self Love

They say you cannot love someone if you do not love yourself
But loving yourself has nothing to do with feeling for someone else
I know because I spent many years severely hating myself
But I often felt deep love for friends I considered to be top shelf
They inspired love in my heart, which for myself was not ever true
I always wondered why when they would earnestly say "I love you"
In my mind I did not deserve love but with them that was not true
To love myself was something for me that always was taboo
You cannot force love on someone, this has always been true
But what do you do when the person you can't love seems to always be you

A poem about my past. I no longer feel this way.

A Little Secret

I have a little secret
That maybe you should know
Let me whisper it in your ear
Let me get real close
Promise me you will keep
My little secret please
Promise me you'll never tell
Pinky promise please
This is my secret desire
I want to set the world on fire
Afire with my words and phrases
Receiving so much love
And heartfelt praises
I want my words to continuously amaze
Affect with each line
With each turn of phrase
This is a silly impossible dream I know
My writing will not get me off skid row
It will not make me rich
It will not make me known
But a dream is a dream
And I must let it flow

One and Only Crush

Do you know every night I dream of you
Visions of your lips upon mine
Have you any idea how much I think of you
So much it has become a pastime
Are you aware of how often I drown
Inside your perfect green eyes
My mind is so crowded with reflections of you
For other thoughts I have not the time
Haven't you noticed how we belong together
Just the notion is too sublime!
Endlessly I want to feel your touch
And to be always on your mind
If we were never to be together
That would be a terrible crime
Don't you know that you mean everything to me
I want to give you my heart for all time
You are the only one in this world I want
To be forever and always mine
Give me a chance at romance
And I promise you'll never ask why

Oh the Colors of Nature

Oh the red pedals
Under the blue sky
Above the green grass
Forever nigh
Give me the orange sunshine
With the red sky
Give me the grey morning
To view with brown eyes
Give me all of nature's colors
To imprint on my soul
Oh the colors of nature
Will never ever get old

Philosophy of Writing Inspired By Bukowski

Words should come from the soul
Not just from a pen
That is what should be your goal
So says wise men
Many times there is too much effort put into writing
It should come naturally enough
There shouldn't be too much fighting
Just let the words flow through you
Like the greatest of rushing rivers
The end result I promise you will deliver shivers
Down the spine of the reader
And that is what you want
For your words to be remembered
For yours to be the words that haunt
Writing should be for writing's sake
Not for the sake of any others
Although it is nice to hear the opinion of your brothers
But just remember that writing should come from deep inside
And if it does then pride in yourself will never be denied

Death Will Not Come For Me

I cannot accept death

In death there is no righteous purpose, no nobility, and no meaning
So I have devised a plan to follow, you may wish to call it cheating
I have called upon the Dark One who has at last heard my beseeching
And he comes to my chambers to make the exchange this very evening

What exchange you might ask, well that I do not know
But I will agree to any bargain if He honors quid pro quo
The only thing I seek, Immortality to me bestowed
Tonight is that last night of this life, a change I will soon undergo

Suddenly appeared a child before me bright with shining light
In all my life I swear before God I had never seen such a sight
Boy? Girl? I could not have said, I tried with all my might
To understand how the "Dark One" could be so gleaming white

Despite myself I shuddered, but through strength of will did not fall
For I knew I looked upon the Dark Lord come before me at my call
"What do you offer in exchange for my gift?" asked He four feet tall
"I offer the soul of my oldest son." But the Dark One threw a curve ball

"One soul will not be enough to purchase what you seek.
Immortality lasts forever, we need a continuing bargain, so to speak"
"What would you prefer instead?" I asked, my anxiety at it's peak
"The soul of the son in each generation, that is what I seek"

I pause but a moment to consider the cost before I gave my assent
I will not say no, I cannot accept death so my plan I must circumvent
The Dark One was immensely pleased that I willingly gave my consent
There was but one more thing to be done, but one more, just a kiss

He stepped up close and rose on tiptoe his arms down at his sides
His pink lips pursed in anticipation, a kiss I had to provide
So I knelt down to deliver the kiss trying to calm the war inside
This is the moment I've been waiting for, the moment that turns the tides

At the moment my lips touched his I felt a surge of power
As I stared into his eyes they became so deep, deeper than a black rose flower
So deep I plunged into those orbs I did not know if it had been moments or hours
When I came to myself the child was gone and I was left feeling empowered

I sensed no chill and all of my limbs were atingle with a strange sensation
I felt remarkably light and there was a thrill at my body's prickly vibration
My eyesight enhanced I realized then I had lived a life of stagnation
I danced easily knowing happiness at last, death no longer an expectation
