a darkness creeps up on my mind, but not the dark of night
it is the darkness of despair, and i've no will to fight
for sanity's a memory, a sweet elusive dream
that changes into something else, nights terrors make me scream
but no sound can escape my throat, and fears dark wings take flight
and creeping darkness will prevail, again, in this dark night
