Layers of the Onion

Meaning, ever bending, never ending-ly open to changing it's mind and opinions,
by moving around words and pulling and pushing in different directions,
until everything changes, rearranges pages in history
just for the mystery to begin again
with new songs, new players and these layers and layers
of summits and new beginnings.
Of openings back to where we came in.
New meanings are foaming and forming
within the fatted belly of doing and screwing until done.
Come watch a new one get sprung.
A new shape to take place of the old, behold
and believe in your prayers.
They keep coming these layers and layers
and faces of women and men.
Turn around just to begin again.

Peace From Dead Skinned Fingers

It's minor keys that resonate, I'll stay up late and wait
then in between the silence I'll hear the sound
of steel and cedar, the slow rebound
wrapping around my reflective heart
and so it comes, this slow release
brings me peace in dead skinned fingers.
It's me who lingers unanswered and unsolved
even after prayer wheels have been revolved.
The answer is not to doubt at all,
to take our backs from off the wall,
but still these shapes take precedence,
a permanent tenement residence
of twos and blue toned cadence.

That perfection goes unnoticed
would be easier to bare
if there was someone there to share
the exquisite madness and requisite gladness
who's roots draw from melancholy
but the apple that fell on me
knocking sense into me
bruising my head
releases me, brings peace to me
instead.

The Fear In Loud Voices

I hear the fear in loud voices.
I know that good things can come from bad choices.
I see the love that lies behind the hurting,
the connectedness we feel in the parting.
The breathing, the stillness,
the healing way illness
makes sense of it all.

I've cried sad tears at life's perfection
and everywhere I go I see reflections.
I've found what's real in my delusion.
I've grown peace of mind from my confusion.
I've found a reason for living
and I know that giving
makes sense of it all.

I Can See the Sunrise

Where are we to go ?
Who am I to say ?
and for all we know
Its better this way.

And sometimes we
might stumble blindly and fall
apart so easily
what is, just is and maybe should be.

Although everything may seem so much darker than before
I can see the sunrise.

Early morning rain
that falls into my bed
that once threatened to wash me away
now washes me clean instead.

Although everything may seem so much darker than before
I can see the sunrise.

Be Brave, Be You

Why does this light inside scare me?
I'll lock it down tight in the hopes to spare me
the separation.
I want to live from a higher vibration,
revelation and wonder,
but fear of isolation drags me under,
steals my thunder and dims the glow.
All this creation and nothing to show.
All those notes played just for the wind,
those shapes that stayed locked in my mind,
those words stuck between pages on bookshelves in sheds
or lost between faces so stuck in my head,
good as dead and going nowhere.
There's magic when you learn how to share,
when you don't care,
lay yourself bare and trust.
Tear down your walls and scream if you must
but scream it true
from the depths of what it means to be you,
step out from the queue and show it.
They can't do what you do and they know it
and they'll stop for a moment without even knowing
why they're touched so much by this love that you're showing.
Growing by giving, living by sharing,
loving by trusting and not caring
what the others may say.
Thoughts of this fade away when you just play
unafraid and unaware
of some deep recognition in their stare
of this shape, hitherto unseen
of a heart now open,
a dream within a dream.

Gentle Returning

With each note a new letter
that forms part of a word
in a sentence in my mind
that has never been heard.
Drawing in places and faces and themes
of deep water blues and empathy greens.
(It's like I'm about to find out what it means)
and while rhythm is driving epiphany on
and peace and forgiveness are singing along
the words of a song so gentle and kind
to each one and all as they float through my mind
echo on walls of my own distant making,
returning as remedy for a heart that is aching.

Sorry

If I could only say,
in these words that trip and fall,
the sadness in my actions,
the shame my stumbling love
and that there are so many times
that my knowing can recall
where my fear that got the better
caused your drawing in, away.

For my part I'll take them back,
these loose, dividing words,
everything I have put on you
that wasn't yours to own
and If you ask that I go, or come,
I'll understand the question,
to leave you free to really be
without fear from my illusions

In this moment I see myself
a poor and wretched soul
and that you can show kindness still,
tho watchful and aware
is beyond my daring to ask such grace
but I hope you will provide
so that I can repay the full moon
and you can meet me there.

It's What You Need

When the only way out is through
and the only way forward is back,
every angle is covered by the same unutterable words
that push and pull by their knowing
and cry with you, for you and all that you try to be
and all that you never will.
As the sky falls steadily downward
and you're left rooted to the spot
in snow-blinded acceptance
there will be no terms for surrender offered,
this hurt will be your making
and you will grow beyond it
again to be once more open
as those you love turn their heads.

Time Will Come

That day that stuck like glue,
hide your pride in the wind and let it go.
Redemption has found me relieved more than happy,
no fanfare or parade,
just get back in the shade.
Just get back in line for now's not the time to shine
but steady as she goes, twinkle toes,
time will come soon.
These flowers in bloom will signal closure,
mourning period over
to once more lift my eyes to the horizon
free from moments left behind by this
that would play me in a desperate exclamation
to a ship that's sailing,
failing
to stop.

This We Share

There's a part of you thats seldom seen
that's always been and always will.
It's still, it's sure, it doesn't want more,
It understands what kindness is for
and why everything must change
in this seemingly deranged unfolding
so that the love you are holding can be set free.
It understands me
which is more than I do
but I recognise and worship the divinity within you.
Godly but oddly grounded,
all fears unfounded, well rounded.
Every second welcomed regardless of content
or how a day's meant to be.
Please allow me to humbly greet you.
My head below yours says I am honoured to meet you.
No other way to treat you
and this divine line that winds its way through your being,
all knowing and all seeing
knows it flows through every soul
and bows it's head in turn below.
No judgement or scale
and nothing for sale.
