Aging Gracefully

Senile and silly are the woes of sage.
Broken on the altar of age.
But the children care not,
They enjoy the silliness a lot.

No matter the weather,
I thank God, our Lord and Father
For the fun
Smiles, water and sun.

But even when all seems lost,
No hope to regain the cost
I'll not regret nor dread the pain;
For in His joy and peace I remain.

Now, let Love abide!
Never to leave His side.
Overflowing from the Holy Spirit forever
I will not fail; not ever!

Aging gracefully, I'm ready
To step into Eternity; it's heady!
Happy and excited to be
With my Lord, eternally!

Martyrs

Their blood was spilled
Your church was built
But to them it never occurred
To deny the Word
Of Truth that set them free
Assuming of Heaven to be.
Even joyful singing was heard
You, their Lord, they preferred
Their church buildings burned
But not one turned
They were spurned
For what they said,
"Jesus is raised from the dead".
Yet, hope through them was bred
Hope that there is the Way
To our Creator's heart that day
When Jesus the price had to pay
Out of love for us He freely gave
His life laid down the Way did pave
Fasting, not counting the cost
To the wind all fear is tossed
Sleepless, just to pray
Trusting Jesus day by day
Seeing miracles by His name
To own or not, it's just the same
Freedom from sin and guilt
On this the Faith is built!
Keeping in the Bible of His Word
They rest and eat, love preferred
To life itself
His truth puts all else on a shelf
Forgotten, all forgiven
In Him, their Heaven!

Get It Out

Out and about so people can see
What's going on in me
It also helps me think
Clearly and keep in the "pink"
Those misty, swirling clouds of doubt
That make me want to pout
Have roots that must come out.
God knows what it is all about!
In pictures or in words
From Before or from Afterwords
It matters not!
All is in the same pot
Of Me.
We all are growing a "tree"
Of life, with fruit to share
We really must care
To keep sweet, kind and giving
To call our life Really Living!

Inspiration

God, You inspire!
Give me Your desire
Not my will but Yours
With You my heart soars
Each day we pray
I pray for Your way
Your grace helps me see
The faith-life and what to be
All eternity or just one day
With You I can say
"Love never ends"
His garden in me He tends.

The Life of Faith

When fear knocks at your door
Let Faith answer it.
Meditate on what God's greatness is for
Trusting His goodness in the pit
Focus on the work at hand
All has it's place and part
See today's grace in the land
Smile and release your heart
To soar and to sing
To follow and to serve.
Give it wing
Without reserve.
You are in His hand
So fear not at all
Part of the Loving Band
You'll give Him glory and not fall.

Take the Risk

Some people hate risks
Fun is banned in quick whisks

More and more are afraid
The rules are only to be obeyed.

No appeals, no changes
Loving just rearranges

A cookie will break
Is the risk they'll take

But as they wipe away the smile
They enjoy the taste all the while.

"No more pain", they plead
It hurts to bleed.

Only what's carefully planned
Comfortable or canned.

With a plan "C" or at least a "B"
A life of risks is too risky.

Just with plan "A"
"Please God", they pray.

What is a risk anyway?
Faith, Love, Trust and obey.

"Vengeance is Mine", says the Lord
His wrath will be outpoured.

Trust His justice and step out
Take the risk, just don't doubt.

All will be revealed
God's will is sealed.

His forgiveness is sure
Over each heart and soul secure.

But we have to ask
If in His love we'll bask.

Love Is a Verb

Love does what it says and it dreams
Love has faith, it envisions streams.

Visions of beauty, peace and joy dance in it's head
Garlands of flowers drape around Love's bed.

Whispers of oceans and birdsong fill its air
Love breathes heavenly breezes of all things fair.

It hopes forever more.
Will you open loves door?

Retired

No, never retired,
Only refired.
Zooming down life's highway
With Jesus, the Life, the Truth, the Way
We've given our pact
To serve God with more tact

So make a "peep" and we'll find you
Multitudes, not just a few
Take a deep gulp of Living Water
Be refreshed, never falter
Receive the joy of salvation
The Lord of every nation

Are we old,
Shifting sand or gold?
Precious life has given wisdom
Many stories of the Kingdom
the sand cleaned out
The gold stout

Through the fires and the storm
Whether night or morn
We will rest and pray
Trust God every day
Fearless and love inspired
Never to be retired.

No Apathy

To be fit, you must be willing
     to feel pain.
To lose weight, you must be willing
     to feel hungry.
To be happy, you must be willing
     to give and give again.
To be free, you must be willing
     to get angry.

Weather Ready

Weather comes, but not to everyone.
Strange or strong, or just the sun,
Wet, dry or, "Just no fun!"

Are you ready for the weather
With a heart light as a feather?
Do you care or do you bother?

Someone freezes to death and starves.
Another just sits, whistles and carves,
Patiently waiting and nothing mars.

Is it possible to get away?
Usually, it's a price too high to pay
Put it on another day?

Totally unprepared for cold
Or are you fully clad and bold?
"We just love Winter!" I am told.

Unbelievable differences around the globe
Winter preparedness or frozen earlobes,
Or, "No fear, Life goes on like Job's!"

There's challenges and weather comes.
Decide, take an attitude, make some puns,
Laugh, change and help give out buns.

Yes, volunteer and be a part.
Give from your smile and your heart.
Use Winter's benefit, a brand-new start.

Do your best to prepare.
Don't be blue nor despair.
Go to God in prayer.

Hear a Spirit-filled wise word,
Trust and never be lured
To give up or be deterred.
