Bullying In Schools By Ulyssa Vinarta 8th Grade

I go to school
and you are there thinking you're so cool.
You trapped menacing words in my mind
being so unkind.

What did I do wrong?
Why are you picking on me for so long?
Is it my hair?
Is it what I wear?

You think it's all a game
but bullying is really lame.
But you know what you're doing is wrong.
I wish someday we could get along

People laugh, watch, and surround
as you keep tossing me around.
Acting like a jerk
making me do all your work.

What's your problem with me?
Is it because of your jealousy?
I feel like I want to die
but all you say are lies.

Why can't you ever be humane?
Now it will never be the same.
So all the childish games you play
has to cease this very day.

Pain In My Heart By Pamela Espinal 8th Grade

Pain in my heart,
from the day you left.
Thinking that you would be next to me soon
but I guess it was too good to be true.
Why is it when I say it's going to be a good day,
I truly know it's not,
especially without you?

Pain in my heart,
feeling weak when I think of you.
Just wanting to break down and cry
but not wanting to make a show.
It's true what everyone says,
how a smile can hide pain
but this pain is too strong
for me to hide.

Pain in my heart,
waiting to hold you in my arms
but never got the chance.
Hoping there was no harm
but there was,
for me.

I know you're in a better place,
that's all that counts
but I still wish I could see your face.

Pain in my heart,
but you're happy in heaven
while I'm not well.
Trying to snap out of this misery.
depression isn't me.
Life may have ended for you
but love will not!

Spoiled By Carson Eelman- 7th Grader

A tribute to Ray Bradbury's The Veldt

Spoiled
by Carson Eelman

The nursery is a curious place
a place where dreams came true
inside lied an African Veldt.
In there the leaves would sway,
as the grass danced in the wind,
the lions roar, the sun beats hot,
it seems so real but know it's not.

In a world where thoughts come true,
what evil acts young minds will do;
I don't think we are alone,
in this place where lions roam.

The power of imagination,
can be a wonderful thing,
full of magic, fun, and wonder;
but it can turn to darkness as well.
The nursery became corrupted,
with thoughts of death,
becoming real to Mom and Dad.

In a world where thoughts come true,
what evil acts young minds will do;
I don't think we are alone,
in this place where lions roam.

The called a man
to see what's wrong
but honestly he wasn't sure.
He said they should take a break,
and so the father said,
"Shut down the house,
     we are ready to go,"
but the kids said "Please No!"

In a world where thoughts come true,
what evil acts young minds will do;
I don't think we are alone,
in this place where lions roam.

They couldn't let it happen,
so they locked both inside.
The parents screamed and banged,
but to no reply.
The lions came and they were gone.
Peter and Wendy flashed a wicked grin,
then settled down and ate a meal.

In a world where thoughts come true,
what evil acts young minds will do;
I don't think we are alone,
in this place where lions roam.

In a world where thoughts come true,
what evil acts young minds will do;
I don't think we are alone,
in this place where lions roam.

Love and Fear By Julio Trujillo 8th Grade

Was it love at first sight?
      You know I would fight.
Try to hold on,
so our love won't be gone.

Should I love you or fear you?
I guess I just want to hear you.
Stay near me,
    please don't leave me.

Love is what I fear.
That's why I start to tear.
I wish you could hear my pain
but either way, my heart will
remain the same.

Accountability By Toi Ruiz 7th Grade

Action!
Count on yourself!
Can't take anyone else's responsibilities.
Only you can!
Understand why you should
Not make
The mistake
Andy made by driving drunk.
B.J. should have driven that night
If Andy was so drunk.
Learn from your mistakes and bad choices.
If you do not
Then the same will happen to
You!

Accountability By Ulyssa Vinarta 8th Grade

Andy was driving.
Caused a
Car crash
On the highway.
Unbelievable!
Now
That
A friend has
Been killed.
It has caused chaos
Leading him
Into
Taking responsibility for his own actions,
Yet, he still blames himself.

Hope, Faith and Love By Crismarie Perdomo 8th Grade

Through horrifying, death, sickness, poor and helplessness,
it is a scar the world will never heal from
but you still have to have hope.
Is it faith?
The people we love die everyday.
Is hope what we fight for?
Hope is the only thing we have to survive.
Hope is the light that guides us.
When someone is missing a soul, you help and give them hope.
Hope is the joy of life.
Hope is the bird with wings to guide you if you're lost.

Reprehensible By Garrett Murtagh 7th Grade

From the perspective of the main character...

Regrettable decision that I made
Early in my life.
People calling me murderer.
Regretting that terrible day.
Everyday I look at my peers,
Having to lie to them. Secretly knowing...
Everyone knows I am hurting. I'm
Not really okay!
Still hating myself!
I can't look at myself!
Behavior slowly changing...
Incredible pain!
Living through that terrible
Event everyday.

Darkness By Jacqueline Arias 7th Grade

It's dark in this room.
    No light to shine.
No one to say hi
    but I'm filled with fright.

No one can see
    The fright inside of me
but the darkness is spreading
    all around me.

There is no future.
    Neither a past.
The present is here
    but it won't last.

Influence By Christian Cepeda 7th Grade

Intoxication.....good or bad?
Not good if you're intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol. My
Future is important to me. Young ones,
Little ones, old ones. The
United States should be drug and alcohol free,
Even if it takes a lifetime.
No one should ever do drugs or become intoxicated.
Change can happen but it starts with you!
Everyone can make a difference.
