Depression

The world is dark
And I'm all alone
There's nothin anywhere
No walls
No floor
Just empty space
I float endlessly
In the black depths of nothingness
Waiting desprately
 for just one
tiny ray
of the light of hope

Life Is Mental Warfare

I'm up,
I'm down,
I'm confused,
I'm lost.
I find a way,
just to get kicked down again.
I finally fall in love.....
with a broke man,
twice a millionaire,
hoping for,
thrice a millionaire.
Murphy's Law and the Fates,
be damned!
We will aspire,
transpire,
and rise above!
Only to find ourselves....
in battle again,
as always,
in the game of mental warfare.

Nightmares

when i took the oath
i agreed to be expendable
can't blame anybody but myself
nightmares
night sweats
cronic fatigue
insomnia
anxiety
panic
depresion
aching bones
muscles
headaches
memory loss
chronicaly progresively
physicaly
mentally
aging too fast
the price for freedom
i took the oath

The Road Less Traveled

Aren't you scared?
I didn't know.
I had to think about it.
I watched the dark dessert horizon, lit up with artillary.
Non-stop... brighter than...I don't know what...as far as the eye could see... loud and unrelenting.
War
No, I'm not.
I was just as suprised and confused by this as he was.
Are you?
Yeah, were in a war! Your really not scared?
No, it's exciting. I know, it's crazy.
I just can't believe I'm really here...wathcing this.
No one's ever know what this is like.
I'm really here...wathcing a real live war...it's like surreal or somethin'. Like I'm not really here.
He shook his head and walked away.
I was fascinated.
I don't know how long I stood there, absorbing the sights and sounds, wondering how the hell I landed myself there.
The next morning it was over.
Wow!
There's definitely something to be said for taking the road less traveled.

Why Did You Leave Me

I wish I'd never found the coroners report
Empty bottle of Valium
Empty bottle of Imiprimine
More empty bottles
Two fifths of Vodka
One empty
One still full
Garage door closed
Hose from exhaust to wing window
Wasn't I enough for him to live for
Why daddy
Why did you leave me
My heart has been breaking for 36 years
Couldn't have lived at least for me

The Ones I Love

THIS HURTS
ive been run over by a jeep
ive smashed in the mouth with a bat
had a fractured eyesocket
multiple face fractures
whole left side of my face fractured and swollen
nose cruched, broken, and broken again
BUT THIS HURTS
my heart is breaking
all my life has been on the roads less travelled
i've met hundreds, i dare say thousands of people
only a handful i've called friends, kindred souls
the ones i love
why
why
why do i lose the ones i love
lose them forever
i always lose the ones i realy love

THIS HURT IS TOO PAINFUL
run me over, shoot me, shove me off a cliff
anything
just stop this heart hurt
it's gonna break for good someday
a heart can only break so many times

This poem was inspired by, and is dedicated to Larry Gibb
7/22/51 to 12/13/11
He possessed the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Vietnam Campaign Medal
Also dedicated to my sister Renee Keller deceased 1/24/12

My Home

so damp
so depressing
I came out today
ohhhh how good it feels
the sun
the blue skyes
decorated and painted
the gentle caress of God's breath
speaking to me
through the swaying trees
how could i have forgotten
even for a moment
the beauty of God's art
the peaceful loving earth
created just for me

Just Me and Jack

Here I sit in my darkened room
I get out the glass
Pour in the Jack and mix in the coke
I drink one down and begin another
I start to feel warm
And the pain disapears
I put away the glass
and put away the bottle
Climb under the covers
And dream of the past

November

what a wretched month
my sister's betrayed me
the weather betrays me
the fates betray me
my luck has betrayed me
the ghosts and the ghouls
here so fast and so gone
even they have betrayed me
and now.......
what do i have...............
pumkins and scarecrows n pilgrim's dreams
Oh! My!
pumkins and scarecrows n pilgrim's dreams
Oh! My
                 Y
                    Y
                        !

I live to survive,
I survive to live,
only to die.
