Lost My Song

When in this life I felt down
You were the one that was around

Maybe it was the way you held my hand
I knew in my heart you would understand

I miss the way we used sit and talk
The times we didn't look at the clock

The way you walked in those tight jeans
Made me want to pull my skin and scream

I remember trembling at your touch
I love and loved you so very much

I am lost inside now you're gone
Baby you are still my life's song

When I look to the night sky I tear
I miss you and wish you were here

Maybe The Last Letter

This may be the last letter I write to you; I am so very tired inside, exhausted...as I lay in bed I’m pondering things. When you feel like you are at death’s door, it’s not the things you done well that matters, it’s the mistakes in life you ponder. To be honest though, if there was only one thing I did right, it was the day I met you. When love finds you, you want to keep it close forever and ever and ever and never let it go. I’m afraid to go to sleep because of the uncertainty of tomorrow, but I need to set my fears aside…so I am writing. I should not be afraid because you are already there, where ever there is, but I do remember trembling at your touch and the sound of your voice; I am still in love with you and I miss you so very much. My prayer is before I close my eyes that I did not forget something—I know that is silly. I did make the house payment, the dishes are washed, the laundry is done, and yes I took out the trash. I let the girls out to go potty, and made sure they will be taken care of if I don't wake up. They're sleeping on the floor by my side, they have been staying close to me tonight. So I guess I’ll put down my pen and take my chance at sleep, but if I could have just one wish, I wish I could see your face once again with those beautiful deep blue eyes I used to get lost in. Goodnight my love, maybe we can meet some where tonight, I love you.

Tearfully written for “Maybe the last letter - Poetry Contest”

Hush Little Baby

Hush little baby it's time to sleep
Angels watching over you don't you peep

Listen little dreamer hear this song
Angels watching over you so nothing wrong

Sleep little baby you had your play
Angels watching over you it's time to pray

Now it's time to sleep it's all right
Angels watching over you to keep you tight

Soft is your bed now rest your head
Angels watching over you are by your bed

Now close your eyes and go to sleep
Angels watching over you your soul to keep

Sleep little baby you're about to gleam
Angels watching over you to safely dream

The Leaves of Life

The breath of spring gives us new hope
after a long winter is our only way to cope

Fresh leaves are so green and new
bringing forth life in another hue

Flowers, the shade, the birds and bees
all busy with life as we look to the trees

Summer songs from the wind as the trees talk
just waiting for a couple to rest after a long walk

Here and there a yellow leaf shows its locks
the autumn season is just around the block

We loose a few leaves as we watch them fly
but we gain much more with fruit for a pie

When mornings start to get a little colder
the colors in the leaves get much bolder

As Autumn leaves fall and hide our path
winter is around to corner to show it's wrath

Beers and Tears

Men measure life by the number of beers
Women measure life by the flow of tears
It is when the dad farts
His wife moans in her heart
Because her own children laugh and cheer

My Snowman

The snow caresses the air falling down
Big fluffy flakes not making a sound

The days are short and nights are long
This is the beginning of a winter's song

Flakes falling here flakes falling there
There are flakes falling everywhere

Jack frost kissing me on my nose
It's beginning to blush like a rose

I have my mittens, scarf and my hat
Time to make a snowman short and fat

Rolling a big snow ball on the ground
Making this snowman nice and round

I think this snowman is afraid of the sun
His buttons on the front are starting to run

He's now looking upward to the sky
Oh no my snowman is waving goodbye

Poetry In My Life

Life came without instructions,
and when looking for balance,
I found verses of this life
written in the pages of poetry.
Poems are the fingerprints of life
from cultures today
and those of centuries past.
Poetry is a gift to us
from the minds of others
to teach us about ourselves.
Meditating on well written poetry
was transforming for me,
and writing poetry myself
releases restless energies
from deep within my soul.
Poetry organizes my thoughts
and allows me to visualize and feel life
from a different perspective.
Poetry has a calming effect.

What brought you to poetry?

Relationship Breakups

A hole in my heart
There is no death with this pain
Life with no living
The stomach cramps with sorrow
Hope lost with only darkness

No Good Morning Sunshine

I lie awake thinking of the agony of it all.
A hold ripped into my heart.
The pain of loss and what might have been.
How can there be life without life.

My stomach rots with pain.
Love lost because of honor before desire.
Oh God, what is to become of me now.

I fear not death!
I have already died a death worse than death.
In death the pain of life comes to it's end.

Then what is this death with pain.
A death knowing there will be no,
Good Morning Sunshine...
