Realization of One Broken

A rose is guarded from prying hands
By thorns along the stem
Reality makes the truth known
A heart can be kept safe
From those who wish it maimed
By icy spikes of bitterness
And distrust
Thorns are beautiful
As are my own version of such a Godsend
Serrated barbed wire
That hurts both the offender and the prey
It works both ways for us
We had some bond
That the fairy tales paled against
Though what naive child was I to ignore
The untamed look as you swept me off my feet
And killed the innocnce
I longed to preserve
A wound carries infection
When left untreated
A shattered heart
And useless dream
Will not infect
But most surely
Scar
My burning heart
Bleeds for salt
To make it worse
And yet
To make it feel so much better
Now I have played my part
And those thorns that once looked
Deadly yet respectable
Made me see
Time does not always heal all wounds
The memory will stay caught
Onto those pikes of self preservation

And your Betrayal within me.

The Cycle

Sun and Moon a duet

Embrace us with your blessing

Shun us to the night

Awaiting Unknown

Her longing is one that is hard to bear.
She thinks of him dearly –
And the memories they share…

Talking, thinking of one another,
Is it enough to suffice –
Her endless need for compassion?

He gazes at the winding path of time,
Thinking of his fair maiden.
Does she recall
Those precious times?

Walking on the moonlit beach,
Barefoot on the sandy shore,
He longs to see her.
In other than his heart.

A misty chill sweeps through the night,
Will he miss her when she’s is gone?
A thought to make her shudder –
Why think of something so uncomforting?
Can’t he be right here?
Can’t his arms be around her in a loving embrace?

Her dear lover –
Will he return?
His loving companion;
Will she come back?

Will they survive with only memory?
With fragments of time that will eventually be lost?
Or will they cross a sea of hardship –
To the blissful sanctuary created by love and imagination?
We cannot tell.
It is not for us to tell.

Let them decide their own destiny.

Discovery- Memory

I’m surrounded by shadows.
They’re closing in on me.
And before my so weary eyes,
I am lost in mystery

I travel up the stairway,
With shadows close behind,
And because recent events have passed,
I’m beginning to lose my mind

I turn into the alley,
My thoughts are far ahead,
Just as I think it’s been figured out,
The memory is dead

One thinks about the hardships,
That one is come to know,
No memories converted,
No love; just sorrow

We gaze onto the future,
Not present or the past,
This is our minds weakness,
We dwell on selfishness

I come into a corridor,
Of a house upon a hill,
There seem to be memories of past here,
Ones that create the chill

I fall into a hole there,
But now I feel released,
From the knowledge now within:
Discover memories

Deep

The intricate twisting of knots,
Restricting the ability to move and breathe–
Freely.
Surrounding us daily–
Tying us into dependency,
When we don’t need it–
Or do we?
Is that why we can’t move?
Will the ropes release us if we accept the truth?

We are only what we are…
The knots begin to loosen.

Dream

Dark hole,
No escape,
Thrash around in my sleep…

Scream,
Awaken from my slumber.

Must break free,
Veiling memories,
Help me escape from-
Me.

Untitled I

Swirling mist
Chokes us all,
Whether or not you’re
Gasping for breath.

Thickening fog
Blinds us all,
Even if your
Vision is perfect.

Pounding rain
Brings back the pain,
Especially the one
You never knew you had.

Goodbye

Numb,
So cold…

An ocean of stone,
Devouring a single flower.

Memories engraved in granite,
Little or no to say so long at last;

This is our…
Good-bye.

Anesthetic

There is always a chilling cold
That sweeps away those careless thoughts
Of times that have passed
Reality shows that times have faded
Into this place where consciousness never stays
My body’s numb
I’m fading out
The anesthetic’s kicking in
A product of my indecision
My hope to soon forget
Once I’m asleep
I have no fear
Expect for dreams
That plague the memories so dear
But luckily I’ll rise to wake
Unless I’ve taken too much again

But I know that I’ll be freed
Before too long it will be alright
And so I’m lying on my bed
Memories swirling to and fro

My dreams are here again

Christmas I

Fresh sweet peppermint and pine,
Christmas trees and candy canes,
Snowy mountains and skies,
Christmas is finally here!

Fragrant cinnamon and spice,
Pies and cakes for the holidays,
Ponds and lakes layered with ice,
Christmas is finally here!

Everyone is shouting out,
Words that are full of song,
Bringing forth the full effect,
Of Christmas on all!

Pungent holly and mistletoe,
A scented decoration array,
A warm household on display:
Christmas is finally here!
