Chameleon and the Butterfly

The Chameleon ate
the Butterfly, both do change
in different ways

Stargazer's Prayer

Stargazer's Prayer
by oldaubry

Capricorn, Virgo, Sagittarius too
Grace me with your image
as you come into view
I feel my true self
as I look to the sky
I can feel that one spark
as the evening is nigh
your stars are a guide
like a mariner's chart
as I use the sextant
that is bourne of my heart
I pray for safe passage
I don't want to roam
May God speed my journey
and help me get home

Autumn - Ancient Cycles

The season slowly descends
as Autumn begins
greenery gives way
to reds, yellows and gray
ancient cycles repeat
as summer retreats
The squirrels furtively work
gathering their food
and it all just enhances
the forlorn, autumn mood
the warm air gives way
to cool, breezy days
crisp, clear, starry nights
are lovers' delights
angst, passion, desire
they ignite the heart's fire
and the season's transition
stirs spiritual ambition
the trees' colors they show
on the eyes with a glow
in the oblique twilight
ever earlier comes the night
can you hear the cries
of the geese cyclical flight?
it presents quite a sight
 in the late afternoon light
then the moon starts to rise
bright, orange, oversized
what a sight for the eyes
winter is awaiting
just 'round the bend
Ancient cycles repeat
again and again

Memorial Day Prayer

center>They went to war
some gave their all
some are no more
some are on the wall

We owe our freedom
to those that stood
and faced long odds
for the greater good

Their names are whispered
in summer's first breeze
and their glory rustles
in the trees' first new leaves

and so on this day
'lest we ever forget
let us celebrate
their memory yet

The Hawk and the Pole

MY MIND IT IS MOVIN' ON DOWN AND LOW

TRAVELING WEST TOWARD THE SUNSET'S GLOW

AND THERE'S A HAWK THAT'S SITTIN' ON A TELEPHONE POLE

AND I'M WONDERING TO MYSELF, "JUST WHAT IS MY ROLE?"

THEN I REMEMBER BACK IN REVERIE..

TO A DAY WHEN I ALSO ASKED WHAT'S IN STORE FOR ME

IT HAD BEEN RAINING, A DANK, DARK, COOL DAY

THE CLOUDS JUST SEEMED TO NEVER GO AWAY

I WAS DEPRESSED AND SAD AND FELT AT THE END

AND THEN A PRAYER, I DID EXTEND

"I KNOW THAT THERE'S SOMETHING THAT YOU WANT FOR ME

AND I WILL REMAIN HERE, I WILL WAIT AND SEE

I SEE NOTHING IN THE ROAD FOR ME AHEAD"

I PRAYED IN EARNEST, THAT'S WHAT I SAID

"I SEE NO REASON, TO CONTINUE ON"

MY HEART IT WAS ACHING, LOVE LONG, LONG GONE

"IT IS UP TO YOU, THAT I STILL REMAIN

FOR I SEEK YOUR LOVE, AND NOT YOUR DISDAIN

SO PLEASE LEAD THE WAY, AND THERE I WILL FOLLOW

PLEASE GIVE ME A SIGN, FOR MY SOUL IS HOLLOW"

AND AT THAT VERY MOMENT , THE CLOUDS THEY WERE PARTED

THEN THE SUN IT BURST FORTH, AND MY HEART WAS STARTED

AND THEN WHEN I LOOKED AT THE SKY'S EASTERN GLOW

THERE, AGAINST THE CLOUDS, A COMPLETE DOUBLE RAINBOW!

SO NOW TRAVELING WEST, WITH MY MIND DOWN AND LOW

I TAKE IN THE BEAUTY OF THE SUN'S WESTERN GLOW

AND AS FOR WHAT IS IN STORE FOR ME, I STILL DON'T KNOW

BUT I DO KNOW NOW THAT I STILL HAVE A ROLE

JUST LIKE THAT HAWK I SEE ON THAT POWER POLE

SO UNTIL THE END, THEN, I WILL JUST DRIVE

TO WHERE I DON'T KNOW UNTIL I ARRIVE

Sweet Angel

Oh, my sweet angel
an angel on earth
how I mourn your pain
your heart lost it's berth
are there any remains?
that I could bear the burden
which carries your pain
I would do so right now
without any refrain
I can feel your heartbeat
so closely to mine
we were once together
before there was time
it was from the water
that we were both bourne
and on water we travel
from where we were torn
sprung forth from the oneness
asail on the sea
we chart out a new course
to find unity
I have fleeting memories
of home that was lost
we all have one true name
and we all bear the cost
of paradise broken
though all of us different
we all were the same
that is why I can feel you
down deep in my heart
we are always together
though we're far apart
it has been from the beginning
and right from the start
so give me your burdens
let me soothe your pain
for with my own troubles
you have done the same
it is time to home now
for there's no one to blame
