Time Out

Make no haste,
your work is restless.

Aeon give me pause--
no more ticking
gears grinding
ever towards the
lonely end.

Live the now.
Even Death took
a holiday,
veering briefly from an
eternity of reaping
solitude.

Take your time
on earth and
mingle--
overindulge in
reverie.
Rest assured,
oblivion can
wait.

Carbon Monoxide -Co- Week 3: Talkin' 'Bout My 'Noxide

The steady pull
of temptation--
a tease on
my resolution.

When I can sleep,
I take what dreams
afford me.
In these dreams,
my 'noxide comes
to ward me.

Her smoke is an invitation.
my conscience
falls for
the con science
of my imagination.
I give in
and reality spins.

Between the sleeps,
I lie in sanity.
I wonder:
Did I give into
my humanity?
did I'd err?
Is that
smoke in the air?

Carbon Monoxide (Co) Week 1: O.D.A.A.T.

Chain smoke until
I'm in care of the CO.
There's one left, still.
I smoke it really slow.
"It's the end," I anticipate
As the last inch evaporates.

I can't get
Over it;
It's over before
I know it.
Butt, I can't quit.
I'm possessed with this
Obsession; I'm addicted.

My lungs have oxygen,
Yet I'm suffocating inside.
I can't breathe again
Without my 'noxide.

Carbon Monoxide (Co) Week 2: Carbon Cabrona

Smokeless inhales hurt.
I cough tar on my shirt.
As my black lungs breathe,
Shrilling exhales wheeze.

Cabrona
Falls me
Down to
My knees.

The nicotine cracks
My will.
My composure
Spills.

I want
This.
I must
Have this.

I sink
Into
The brink
Of madness.

Haiku - Good Day

A white day ends—
red clouds reflect
the setting sun

Growth

Yesterday's adults
are now children--
all of them.

My Lady's House

I leave the
fiction outside,
it belongs
with the cold.

Our friction
makes a satisfaction
that condenses on
glass

and the windows
weep for us.

I breathe in
the sweet smell
of wine-tinted
moans

and heave heavy
a sigh.

Park Bench Panhandle

Trees dance
to the song
of wind.

Shaded
in a disco
of light and shadow,
king
of good will
welcomes
compassion
with a smile
and cardboard sign.

Upon his wide wooden throne,
he beckons at passers-by:
For a bit
of
good
will.

Character

Light of day
brings
a visitor.

Magnificent,
grey-haired
bastard
from
nowhere
but here.

Banters at me,
"There is a
plan for you."

With hands spread
illustrates,
"From birth
to death..."

Pauses
and waits
for me.

Then in revelation,
"and in between..."

Comes the promise,
"is life."

Stupor

clouded by
careless bravado
i say
too much
this good night

clouds have gone
and I am
in the spotlight
of moon shine

loose lips
break the silence

but no one hears
the confession
of a fool
intoxicated
under
the influence
of you
