The Watch

Assuming the watch
Among the fallen heroes
Symbolic eagle
Touching American hearts
A patriotic sun rise

Short Patriotic poem by Cathy Ncube| Details |

with patriotic glee

with patriotic
glee, for love of their country,
all Americans

emptied their accounts,
piggy banks and all, to help
pay their nation's debt

Blanket

Rifles rattle,
Armies battle
On the plain,
Getting glory,
Grief, or gory
Colored pain.

Conscripts giving
Up their living
For a patriotic bed
That is bag-shaped,
Shrouded, flag-draped:
Blue, white, red.

The Premature Death Of A Patriotic Redneck

“I’m telling you the God’s honest truth;
Mohammed is the Devil’s son.
Can I get a big amen on that good people?
Who in the fricking fracking hell
threw that hot dang grenade in here?”
May you forever rest in peace Bubba Ray.

THE EYES

The windows of the mind,
In the eyes I find,
Written in them,
Is a poem,
Of sanity or insanity,
Of turbulence or tranquility,
Of uncanny mind;
Of patriotic pride,
Of gallant valour,
Of bashful amour,
Of beauty of the Youth,
Of resplendent Truth.

The Patriotic Traitor

Cares he does for all human life
Standing for free will costs a price
Heavy burden felt deep in heart
Decision made man over State

Majority rule, only fool
Born not a sheep amongst the wolves
A shepherd cast in wolf clothing
By the wolves whom have captured ewe

Hand Over Heart

Hand over heart, when our National Athem starts,
taught from a child, and we sang every part.
Word for word as the flag was raised,
remembering the sacrifice our soldiers have made.
Patriotic to the core, our Red, White, and Blue,
Americans be proud, stand , and salute.

Vamp

Hiding a hint of melody
In the free-wheeling ramble
Of the piano’s opening phrases

It’s a pitter pat preview like
Kelly’s singing steps as he
Splashes through a street of rain

It’s a long drawn out unraveling
Of the tune on Ray Charles’ piano
Before he shouts out a bluesy version
Of our patriotic America the Beautiful

To Fight Aloud is Very Brave

Thunderous gray smoke of war
No greater courage I've found
Those who war within their heart
An army fills the ground

When defeat has little honor
Those who died are never known
with dying eyes no one regards
a patriotic tone

We drown in plumed marches
and here the angels we seek
Line after line of walking dead
with uniforms of defeat

Emily Dickinson

Barack Obama

I remain humbled and honored
proud and patriotic
emotional
to live in a time when my president
is recognized
for not only his intentions
but his deeds
as the Nobel Prize committee asks world leaders
to lend Barack Obama
their leadership and wisdom
in moving the world toward peace and negotiation.

 Thank you God Amen

Continued Blessings for this great man, who has only just begun.

Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue

Toby Keith, there is so much we owe you for your song “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue”. Your country band backed up your strong singing voice. The sound you produced became a nation’s choice. Since those twin towers in Manhattan were downed, the might of the USA was motivated by your sound. Every man, woman, and child felt patriotic once they heard your song that was terrific.

Maverick

The world is cut in two
Now you are forced to choose
Nobody can object
Where does your loyalty lie?

Neutrality is descent
Torture and lament
Secret night police
Death to all the spies

Patriotic glories
Liberals and the Tories
We'll stab ourselves with words
Until the Earth is red and hurled

I will make my stand
You cannot force my hand
I will fight alone
Even against the entire world

Folksy Aside

Black cloth sewn for them
Red and white silks for patriotic men
Tear and tear
So rare for a man in cloak and original stare

He shall get my pink handkercheif
He will be stared at in disbelief
He shall stroll in moss creeping boots
He shall breeze in shining purple brooches
He shall potter in magic cloack of roots
He shall stand in the crowd of the roaches

He is not you
He is not me
Still at sea
Waiting at the port of originality

The Price Of War

Their mangled and broken bodies return home in flag draped caskets. Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori while a band plays patriotic hymns for their services rendered and a choir to give them a voice. If I may be so bold to say that I see no sweetness in death nor the acclaimed gloriousness that lyrical poets have penned. what I see is sugarcoated rationale for warmongering dolts. I see no glory in that. Mortem est pretium bellum.

Patriotic Deed

Stars shinning bright,
against the darkened midnight sky,
know that our prayers are with you,
and all hopes are flying high.

You went over there,
to protect our freedom over here,
when thinking of you,
our thoughts are sincere.

We watch things on t.v.,
they say you're no longer in danger,
yet knowing you're still there,
seems to build on the anger.

They say we have him,
right where we need,
just a little closer,
and we'll do our patriotic deed.

Tim McCravey, USMC

I have a great friend and his name is Tim McCravey.
He joined the Marines instead of the Army or Navy.
He bravely fought in the Persian Gulf War.
It's people like him who Americans are thankful for.

During the war, I wrote to him and he sent me twenty bucks.
Anybody who has Tim for a friend, has plenty of luck.
He and I were friends thirty years ago and we're still friends today.
It's very nice to know that he's patriotic to the USA.

(Dedicated to Timothy McCravey.)
