Rings

Ephemeral concentric rings,
on drifting rain waters.
Atlast, one goes to my teacup.

Fireworks

Coiling up
It bursts into the air
Leaving cloud like puffs
To move in the air
Where it disappears to
No one quite sure
Not even I
Or the wisest of all

July

A boy called Dapo
Egocentric fellow
Girls howl in July's kisses
Lies, monthly nursed
Of purple quills rinsing sweet tales
Universally versed with X-rayed
Youthful Zeal

The Job of Paint is that of cream

Yes, Friend

cruising in the manner of an expert...

jaguar thats aquired that of the complex features.

similar to that of a racing team.

freshly painted, with the color of fallin snow.

the inside is creamy.

Island Breeze

I hear and see:
Hot pavement,
Green house,
Boardwalk,
The sound of children's talk
The sun,
watching all the fun
Palm trees
Shifting in the breeze
Blue sky
Green leaves
Bougainvillea trees,
Red and vibrant
That's how you can tell you're on an island

Daydreams of Snow

As I’m pushed away by summer’s breeze
Flakes of white fall upon my brow
I wish for the earth beneath to freeze
To shield me from how days are now

These months have been so long and cruel
I’m ever so blind while the sun reigns
Therefore, I’ll dream of winter’s cool
To take away my summer pains

After The Storm -1-

After the storm ends the sun peeks through the clouds, the rain stops suddenly the thunder clapped clear and loud. Nature is being replenished by a summer storm, it's nice to see the sun again but, I know storm clouds, when they form. Copyright © Cynthia Jones July.14/2006

Independance Day

Our flag we fly
That's red white and blue
Is the symbol of all independence
That God gave to me and to you
He made this country so very beautiful
With flowers, trees, and birds that fly
And created the rainbows so high in the sky
How lucky we all are to be
Living with independence
In our country, the land of the brave and the free

It's Now July

Oh me, oh my! It’s now July!
The months are flying fast.
The summer days, with sun and haze,
Will soon be in the past.

The calendar cannot defer
To what we may desire,
That time would pause a bit because
The days too quick expire.

So we must take each day and make
The effort to embrace it,
Before July is kissed goodbye
And August does replace it.

July Sky

Creamsicle sky melts in July and drips down on our souls renewed. From midsummer’s unstifled sigh, creamsicle sky melts in July. Our tent keeps secrets, we imply. A fire sparks a sultry mood. Creamsicle sky melts in July and drips down on our souls renewed! For Andrea's One Lovely Summer Triolet Contest Visual #7, 5/28/15

Goodbye Gwynne

(Dedicated to Fred Gwynne who died July 2, 1993. He starred as Herman
Munster.)

You had bolts in your neck and a flat head.
Your skin was green and you were undead.
When people saw you, they screamed and ran.
You were very funny and you were also a scary man.
I loved to see you frighten people and make them flee.
But sadly the world lost you in July of 1993.

Those Good Tomatoes

Those Good Tomatoes

		Chicago, South Side

Late July and I am waiting
for those good tomatoes
brought to the city from farms

on trucks with a swinging scale,
brought to the city
and into the alleys

by Greeks and sons
in late July
and early August,

tomatoes so red they reign
on the sills of my mind all winter
too perfect to eat.

Summertime

 Have you heard?
Winter is gone,
And now trees grow strong
Healthy and flourishing
The wind is low
However so warm
Is there a way the heat could way down
For it is like the fire has set
Ablaze upon your very skin
But the water so cold,
Has died down that raging heat
Swimming through
The waters graze the sunburnt skin of yours
Which occurs only in the summer time.
