How were the merits of Jesus Christ applied to our souls

The merits of Jesus Christ are applied to our souls through the Sacraments
Especially Baptism
Penance
Which restore us to the friendship of God

Drowning in You

I want to feel the water
of your youth wash over
me, absolve me. Droplets
of your fresh body of water
fall across my face in a
cleansing baptism. You cry
tears of joy and they wash
me away.

Woman of Bible

L-ovely and hospitable woman of the Bible
Y-ielded purple cloth, was a dealer.
D-isciple of Christ, Paul and others,
I- nvited kindly and warmly to her house.
A-fter baptism, she opened her home to God's people.

JOURNEY'S END

From the day I was born there was no turning back,

From baptismal white to funeral black,

The path was prepared the journey unsure,

To find people and places in times unencountered before

The sands of time fall silently, the years they race to a close,

To learn finally where I did succeed,

Revealed by my creating host.

The World is Flat

yellow leopards leap from azure waters to clutch a fearful throat unless drowned baptismally in error in there fire in the hydrant? do tiptoes smile? will there be an end to this in a little while? dotting sigh and dashing breeze mourning dawn’s antipathies humming bears by buzzing fly dream that wonder-nothing, why?

THE THAW'S BLESSING

THE THAW’S BLESSING

My river broke today into
Massive white daggers - choked up
Like icy teeth in an ogre’s mouth -
Under my bridge: like sins
Waiting to be dissolved
In the warming baptismal water
Of spring.

I was glad to see the lively water
Escape from its icy prison.
Keeping such life and beauty locked up
Is truly a sin.

Chained

A soul so chained it dragged the weight
Through the graveyard to the vast estate
Into a life money bound
Pretensious living their great crown
Money their god and baptism
Soul chained by materialism
No longer life of the party
Caught between life and death..bungee
Chained soul needs an exorcism
To free from consumerism

possibly unfinished

Sacraments of Christian Initiation

The Sacraments of Christian Initiation
Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist
Lay the foundation of every Christian life

Faithful are born anew by Baptism,
Strengthened by Confirmation
Receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life

To receive increasing measures
The divine life
Advance toward the perfection of charity

The Sign

water which is crystal clear
emits a purity we praise so dear
the element that washes clean
the symbol that Baptisms need
to wash away jealousy, envy,
greed and pride
the little bits of sin that gratified
flowing downward deep inside
our inner feelings melt the pride
with God's help it's multiplied
through Him sin is set aside
and washed away by the tide
His healing water purifies

Eden

The rolling sky self-reflecting as it froths above God
Whispering lacey silhouettes as it curdles in my mouth
The baptismal rain sanctifies itself endlessly

My imperial Eden and unannounced abomination
Severe with conviction; let my body weather here as marble death
My deepest river, you swarm my blood as butterflies clotting me with unashamed resolution

I remain as ever, unchanging.

A CHILDS WREATH

A child, I remember the door decorated by a fir circle,

Circle that it was, it always was fresh and new.

New as the season, new to accent this place.

Place now the wreath, the circle of green,

Green to remind us of a coming Spring.

Spring, when the snow is swept away by water,

Water which proclaims our baptism in the Lord.

Lord of All, Bethlehem's wreath of promise...brought to us by A Child.

Contest by Fire

Mark how the forest fires burn
Melaleucas mature to baptism come
Yielding all as to a sacred urn
And still through death flame wisdom
Bringing seeds fire cannot destroy
Mark how the invaders dominant stay
Against the native hope of joy
For we vulnerable pine and decay
Too innocent for the monstrous fight
Too drunk to resist, like moths in flight
The forest fires hell and night
Because we are hypnotized by light.

My worlds of water

I need no shelter from the rain I’ll not run for cover from it. I’ll not be plaintive or complain I love its wetness I admit. Conditioned in a serous sea submerged in its tepid wetness I resided comfortably alone, attached in nakedness. But now that world does not exist yet life’s baptismal still remains: A kinship I cannot resist with water that the gods ordained. Even now I wade in the rain knee-deep in Poseidon’s domain.

All in Pieces

Contest: Pieces

All in Pieces

I turn the cold, sparkling, silver knobs
and the raging hot water splatters up the porcelain.
Milky bubbles effervesce the scent of lavender,
and I plunge into the baptism of fire.
The water scalds and blisters my skin.
Let it burn.
Let it hurt.
Let me feel my flesh ripple and peel to the surface.
Poached parchment—
memories to be shed.
Blood streams from my wounded skin.
Your acidic stain is replaced with
raw, fragrant flesh.
