MY VILLANELLE

I want to learn to live before I die
To glimpse the light that makes my vision clear
To see the truth that lies within the lie.

I freely put the questions ‘how?’ and ‘why?’
And seek the face unknown in darkest fear.
I want to learn to live before I die.

The days and years stream swiftly swiftly by
In shimmering illusions cherished dear
Despite the truth that lies within the lie.

I found my hand in yours, so you and I
Gave each our vows, impassioned, young, sincere.
I want to learn to live before I die.

The teachers teach, the prophets prophesy
But miss the mystic rhythms of the sphere
Nor see the truth that lies within the lie;

Pure-hearted self; I sense a higher cry
To never leave the far yet love the near.
I want to learn to live before I die
To see the truth that lies within the lie.

The Mission Trip To Please

On mission trip overseas
At least one week will do
Hold babies gently squeeze

Whether in cold where freeze
In rain forest where view
On mission trip overseas

My hearts desire will please
Feed hungry babies stew
Hold babies gently squeeze

Give up my life of ease
Place on feet needed shoes
On mission trip overseas

Help babies who cough wheeze
For mothers good tea brew
Hold babies gently squeeze

Perfect week just do these
Open heart my love grew
On mission trip overseas
Hold babies gently squeeze

UNTIL TOMORROW, FEEL SAFE IN MY WARM EMBRACE

Until tomorrow, feel safe in my warm embrace;
don't feel the rage of those frightening storms...
whisper a passionate wish--- a sentimental phrase.

Stars won't appear to delight, excite and appease;
and with gloominess and clouds to marr our days...
until tomorrow, feel safe in my warm embrace.

We are stupefied by the butterflies's frantic dance;
they swirl with joy, then slowly land on our shoulders...
whisper a passionate wish--- a sentimental phrase.

Shunning faith and obedience is to live without grace;
God has blessed us and given us true happiness...
whisper a passionate wish---a sentimental phrase.

And should unfaithfulness ever bring us disgrace,
let that thought quickly vanish into darkness;
until tomorrow, feel safe in my warm embrace...
whisper a passionate wish---a sentimental phrase.

Share the Wealth Bestowed Upon You

Those bestowed upon them wealth, so much there is to do,
For the sick and down are crying out for us to do our part,
Impart your desirable fortunes and grant wishes to come true.

Dying children wishing, trusting you’ll come through,
To depart the angels of suffering from the afflicted heart,
Those bestowed upon them wealth, so much there is to do.

Loving St. Jude of those in need rests his faith upon you,
For giving of what you treasure most is truly a work of art,
Impart your desirable fortunes and grant wishes to come true.

Restoring smiles to those once shamed, grant children start anew,
For bringing joy to those who grieve from others sets you apart,
Those bestowed upon them wealth, so much there is to do.

Abundant are those with plentiful hopes, their needs are but a few,
So give of what’s been given you, afford others make a new start,
Impart your desirable fortunes and grant wishes to come true

Of earthly treasures a miser not be for in death it goes not with you,
Give to the needy your treasured gifts before death they do depart.
Those bestowed upon them wealth, so much there is to do,
Impart your desirable fortunes and grant wishes to come true

My Heart Decided Long Ago

My heart decided long ago
That life is for adventures, and
That bound'ries flow like rivers flow.

Though people told me what to know,
   I'd weather ev'ry reprimand --
My heart decided long ago.

I fought false rhetoric, and so
Set out across an unknown land,
Where bound'ries flow like rivers flow.

I'd learn from flower, deer, and crow --
I'd sail the sea -- walk soft, white sand --
My heart decided long ago.

I felt the winds of wisdom blow --
The breath of Life, and Her command --
That bound'ries flow like rivers flow;

And on Life's river now I row,
   My destiny within my hand;
My heart decided long ago
That bound'ries flow like rivers flow.

Eternal Love

God loves us without end;
His grace continues forever.
Eternally He will be our friend.

Not only to befriend,
To protect us is His endeavor.
God loves us without end.

No matter where me He sends,
My attachment to Him will not sever.
Eternally He will be our friend.

Our greatest evils off he will fend.
Whether we are foolish or clever,
God loves us without end.

Our life is his to lend,
His way offers life without end.
Eternally He will be our friend.

All of us he will mend.
We will be His forever.
God loves us without end.
Eternally He will be our friend.

WHISPER

A small murmur of tone
Holding on to the sound
With slight hesitation
That it may be too loud...

No business of yours
Who I am
Or why I am here
Risking all for a cause
That won't let me alone...

I began as something unnamed
They called me this
And watched to see
Where I would go,
Why should It alter my ego?

Maybe the plan isn't there
Maybe finding something
Means leaving something behind
But I can't be other
Than the whispering...

Unheard of-unfulfilled
Except for those
Who listened carefully
And understood, in part
What was meant to be
May never be,
But there was, at least, a start...

The Potency of Words

Potent words can move the soul to be still Writers’ pens may look frail, or so they seem The hands may never touch, but the hearts will Handle with care, words can be volatile Lambasting love and life, deflating dreams Potent words can move the soul to be still Seeds of thoughts grow into wisdom’s tendrils Reaching deep within, bursting the heart’s seams The hands may never touch, but the hearts will Sometimes the simplest words, without the frills are those that capture hearts, that make them gleam Potent words can move the soul to be still Words easily pass through mountains and hills, Friendships formed, faith restored, and love redeemed The hands may never touch, but the hearts will A wealth of words touch beyond writers’ quills Ink from within have warmed lives like sunbeams Potent words can move the soul to be still The hands may never touch, but the hearts will ** June 17, 2010-- written for Dr. Ram’s Villanelle Me contest :)

Blood Moon

Blood moon embraces the night
Flaming sky crimson glow
Words spoken end in sight

Darkness taking over a dying light
Dreams rest on a cloud of doubt
Blood moon embraces the night

Searching for souls wrong or right
As the silent night surrounds
Words spoken end in sight

Blessed words reviled so bright
That sat souls afire
Blood moon embraces the night

Holding tight souls take to flight
Filling hearts and minds
Words reviled end in sight

Somewhere a peaceful height
Crimson sky did shine
Blood moon embraces the night
Words reviled end in sight

So Brief the Time

The lilacs have come and gone, so brief was their time,
fragile flowers like some, who seldom linger long,
their purple prominence a pantomime of our springtime.

Full heart-shaped clusters pump perfume so sublime
a gift from heaven, mother nature can't prolong,
the lilac has come and gone, so brief was their time.

Harvest home to birthing butterflies in sunny climes
brought low by the battering rain of May’s swan song,
their purple prominence a pantomime of our springtime.

Unmated, virginal, a merry gift, most sacred in its prime
a rust red blight upon the cloth, a crown of thorns once gone,
the lilacs have come and gone so brief was their time.

Let shoots reform and hollowed make a flute to pass time
to cheer our mother merry and sooth the wearied throng,
their purple prominence a pantomime of our springtime

Like they, we spring forth, summer, fall and wintertime
may our seed justly arise in the beauty of heart song,
The lilacs have come and gone so brief was their time,
their purple prominence a pantomime of our springtime

Righteous and Just

Righteous and just shall inherit the earth
The lord does chastise me so I see Him
Placed me in poverty pray I do right

Sinned throughout my life now I must think twice
Each and every hour this debt I owe
Righteous and just shall inherit the earth

Turn their backs they have people that I know
Failing in belief cause my will I give thee
Placed me in poverty pray I do right

A different path to walk to you I go
My destination is known you I fear
Righteous and just shall inherit the earth

Your punishment severe pain I endure
Forgiveness be time in you faith I trust
Placed me in poverty pray I do right

No longer without sight you freed my mind
The sanctuary I seek found in you
Righteous and just shall inherit the earth
Placed me in poverty pray I do right

As The Mist That Rides The Waves

As mist that rides the waves
My love clings to just You
Only your love I crave

You the only who saves
Constant your love as dew
As mist that rides the waves

Telling your love in phrase
Day by day to a few
Only your love I crave

For each day on his stave
My musical notes drew
As the mist rides the waves

My right to hell did waive
The sentence he totally threw
Only your love I crave

For you did call me from grave
Transformation I flew
As the mist rides the waves
Only your love I crave

Valedictorian

May all our dreams forever stay
Sparkling in our minds
We won’t lose sight of what we want today

Our school work is finished, we’ve written our last essay
Perfected, is how we are defined
May all our dreams forever stay

Today, we stand as one, beating all cliché
A clique like us, impossible to confine
We won’t lose sight of what we want today

When bewildered, we are not, afraid to kneel and pray
Even in our youth, sometimes we must unwind
May all our dreams forever stay

Although we know not, what awaits us at bay
Keep parading forward, ‘cause now there’s no rewind
We won’t lose sight of what we want today

We did it guys! Look at us in our array
Success ahead and behind
All our dreams will forever stay,
We won’t lose sight of what we want today!

Remain in the Darkness

Remain in the darkness, though full of fright,
Children of faith do not fear;
I will find you there, it is a sure sight.

When the night comes, don't seek the light
Tho uncertainty is so hard to bear;
Remain in the darkness, though full of fright.

Blurred vision causing men to suffer blight
Be still, for it will be steered clear;
I will find you there, it is a sure sight.

The night, don't turn to a day bright
For brilliance is yet insincere
Remain in the darkness, though full of fright.

Blinding darkness overnight
Is all you have to bear;
I will find you there, it is a sure sight.

Tonight you should not spite
Open your heart and you will hear
Remain in the darkness, though full of fright.
I will find you there, it is a sure sight.

The Helper

Do not leave me alone in this darkness.
We rave and rant in suffering, who won’t?
Dwell in me and come help me to bear this.

Men of the world know better than this, bliss!
Take pleasure from life, and that’s it! But, don’t!
Do not leave me alone in this darkness.

Knowledge and power is world’s raw justice.
Without a reason is simply a taunt.
Dwell in me and come help me to bear this.

Wealth is the key to health and happiness.
Life is a reverie, money can paint.
Do not leave me alone in this darkness.

Self-contentment is utter completeness.
There isn’t any need for You. A feint!
Dwell in me and come help me to bear this.

You are my Helper in this somberness;
Incompleteness becomes liberating.
Do not leave me alone in this darkness;
Dwell in me and come help me to bear this.

Benevolence

Lost and astonished I crave this day
That places to proof all that hardship I feel
There is no time for me to say
I just cry alone searching my will

As I walk through the valley of decay
I find no strength in the life for the wound to heal
I just walk alone, sad and pray
That my destiny will soon fulfill

Lost and astonished I crave this day
Where in the past there were so many appeals
I cant give up, I will stand and not let it stay
to enhance the moment as it truly reveals

I let out a scream and my mind flies away
As the despair in my body seals
The words of peace that I need today

Lost and astonished I crave this day
For positive thoughts to be my ideal
In solutions and upcoming ways
to find hope, when hope conceals

Quakers on Pacifism

It is not “P. C.” to be anti-war,

Or to refuse to stuff one’s face with meat.

Quakers are not pacifists anymore

By definition. It’s not like before.

These things are individual. We can cheat.

It is not “P. C.” to be anti-war.

We cannot break an invisible law.

We rubbed it out, you see. I should repeat:

Quakers are not pacifists anymore.

Some are. Some aren’t. There’s nothing we stand for.

We can have bacon, toast or Shredded Wheat.

It is not “P. C.” to be anti-war –

To be vegetarian, vegan or

In any way, restrict what one may eat.

Quakers are not pacifists anymore.

This, Friends, is the conclusion we must draw –

Won’t vote on this; we might just face defeat:

It is not “P. C.” to be anti-war.

Quakers are not pacifists anymore.

LOST AND FOUND

To lose one’s faith is such a great disaster.
Life falls apart, disintegrates, and dies.
Climb back again. We have an amazing Master.

A man I know lost faith, and his life’s design.
He gave up hope, and took to pity’s resign.
To lose one’s faith is such a great disaster.

He broke a heart, a marriage, and kept the kids
But shredded them too, for lack of vision’s skids.
Climb back again. We have and amazing Master.

His wife forgot her passion for truth’s wild fire,
And wandered, lost, into world’s framed by desire.
To lose one’s faith is such a great disaster.

But God was on her case. He never left her,
And brought her longing heart within His spur.
She climbed back again to her amazing Master.

The tale goes on, for the children need to know
Why father’s fall had made them suffer so,
Why losing faith is such a great disaster.
Climb back again. We’ve such an amazing Master.

Chimney's Exhaust

Went to sleep late last night reading poems by Robert Frost
So tired was I that the book slipped and fell then
Stirring in my dreams was visions of chimney's exhaust

The chimney that sparks did fly even though cut off
As in the poem that he wrote " The Kitchen Chimney"
Went to sleep late last night reading poems by Robert Frost

A tale he told of " Brown's Descent or The Willy-Nilly Slide" which he embossed
With Brown carrying the lantern by his side, so
Stirring in my dreams was visions of chimney's exhaust

As in the poem "Evening In A Sugar Orchard" where sparks up chimney glossed
Over the brilliance of the distance stars as I
Went to sleep late last night reading poems by Robert Frost

As the poem "Love And A Question" of the bride by the fire engrossed
And of the "Old Man's Winter Night" as the log fell in the stove brought to
Stirring in my dreams was visions of chimney's exhaust

From the fire that once burned in the hearth
And now to sleep it seems to have gone
Went to sleep late last night reading poems by Robert Frost
Stirring in my dreams was visions of the chimney's exhaust

(Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets so this is about him.)

Happenstance

Positively, every day we lay to waste one more chance. Though the sun doth rise and meet us in yellow gold. Will your great revival begin today? Only by happenstance? By all great men, in awe, we've be moved to muse and trance. When the musician's fingers flitter, to make our souls seem whole. Positively, every day we lay to waste one more chance. And as the boats stay moored, afloat of our chance, over a wanting light on black screams, a shadow folds. Will your great revival begin today? Only by happenstance? They cry, they all cry! A guff, their queer parlance. A beckoning light so bright as to seem to take hold. Positively, every day we lay to waste one more chance. The athlete, his body strong against the crushing weight, his defiance. Thou vile villain, thou interrupting season of cold. Will your great revival begin today? Only by happenstance? To want for is not to waste, to keep held high the the chin and dance. And yet as I lie, the shadows creep and their time still known. Positively, every day we lay to waste one more chance. Will your great revival begin today? Only by happenstance?

Mastered art (Give or take)

When hardships in lifetimes are unforgiving
The lessons it gives is decisions worth making
I’ll learn this and master the gift of living

Unselfish and always prepared for the grieving
Of ever present humps without shadows forsaking
When hardships in lifetimes are unforgiving

In teaching the secrets that lead to believing
That the goals make the journey worth undertaking
I’ll learn this and master the gift of living

Crystalloid nightmares with frail hope deceiving
Rainbowed hearts varied in degrees of breaking
When hardships in lifetimes are unforgiving

Kaleidoscope dreams of creation retrieving
New found ideas from cold minds flaking
I’ll learn this and master the gift of living

Shattered on transparent glass my mind keeps misgiving
Some rocky pasture filled with thoughts, there for the taking
When hardships in lifetimes are unforgiving
I’ll learn this and master the gift of living

"O"

Eyes shine with the proud tears of a nation reborn
From the ashes of corruption and greed, a unifying spirit will arise
And he reassures and comforts the fears of the forlorn.

We rejoice in his Presidency and the day he is sworn
Into an Office tainted by eight years of endless lies
Eyes shine with the proud tears of a nation reborn

A Socialist, to those who look down on him with malicious scorn
Progressive diplomat, to those of us who are not looking for a reprise
And he reassures and comforts the fears of the forlorn.

Some try to topple his efforts, but on that January morn
Throngs of people will crowd and stare, as if looking at a beautiful sunrise
Eyes shine with the proud tears of a nation reborn

With patience and undying courage he will mend a nation torn
Insurmountable obstacles are present, but he hears our cries
And he reassures and comforts the fears of the forlorn

Diligent leadership will help create progress to problems skyrocketing and airborne
He promises he will stand with us in a time of lows or highs
Eyes shine with the proud tears of a nation reborn
And he reassures and comforts the fears of the forlorn

My Growing Son

Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.
But early in the morning, he does n’t like to go to school,
He complains he has a headache and his body feels heavies,

When I suggested him to go to bed and don’t mix gravies,
I want to watch football don’t disturb me dad, he replies,
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.

Early in the morning, when he is late finds trouser navies,
He blames against my daughter why she asks to get up early,
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

He always fights with girls and cries he deserves babies,
And he beats them and claims why do they disturb him?
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.

He plays games and don’t want to share his hobbies,
Always watches his muscles and prefers to watch wrestling,
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

He also feels nervous when girls arranged lobbies,
Why did you complain against him he clarifies?
Every night, my son prefers to watch late night movies.
He complains he has headache and body feels heavies.

The Coming

I come to learn, and make my coming prompt.
I feel my intellect in what I cannot understand.
I know by going where my heart and intelligence leads me.

We learn by doing. What activity is there to be started?
I hear myself jumping from eye to eye.
I come to learn, and make my coming prompt.

Of those helping me, who are you?
May God bless the Helpers! I shall give back to you,
And know by going where my heart and intelligence lead me.

A Letter is written on a Page; but who in the world may know what’s next?
The author goes on an imaginary dream come true;
I come to learn, and make my coming prompt.

Fate leads us into a whole world of unknown
For all who know, so don’t be afraid,
And, exceptionally, know by going where the heart and intelligence lead.

This dream supports me in a lovely manner. I must believe!
What goes around comes around. And is waiting.
I come to learn, and make my coming prompt.
I know by going where my heart and intelligence lead me.

Road To Home

Wash boardy ruff country roads leading home
Sun dried each day of your long useful life
Over dark green fields no more will I roam

Those dark green fields that are wide leads to wrong
Not warmth, love, understanding, only strife
Wash boardy ruff country roads leading home

Harder to climb, narrower close to home
Nearer, nearer begin to see great sights
Over dark green fields no more will I roam

Drawing, drawing come, long hill top see dome
There are friends, family, offering life
Wash boardy ruff country roads leading home

The fields were greener, there was fun, the songs
Offering entertainment glitter sights
Over dark green fields no more will I roam

Now sights focused on heavenly song
Lights brighter at end of the narrow way
Wash boardy ruff country roads leading home
Over dark green fields no more will I roam

My Villanelle Prayer

Heaven open my eyes so I may see.
My soul grows bitter as taste of black tea.
Please take my wicked ways, away from me.

Heavy my burden, with my heart so gray,
For ever increasing my sins are they.
Heaven open my eyes so I may see.

Fools upon fools I've let litter my day
Blindly leading me into sinful play.
Please take my wicked ways, away from me.

Darkness has ventured, my life is in fray
I pray let me please raise my head to say
Heaven open my eyes so I may see.

As I fear earthward travels Heavens sleigh
Send pity, for I am the Devil's prey.
Please take my wicked ways, away from me.

See me, my Father, how my heart does weigh
Please bless me now Lord with your tears, I pray.
Heaven open my eyes so I may see.
Please take my wicked ways, away from me.

Let the Weeds Grow

Let wildflowers grow lofty on my grave.
Do not hoe them when their young and tender.
May they share my plot, may I be their slave.

Their seeds seek not for a coward or brave
let wild they wonder and blossoms render.
Let wildflowers grow haughty top my grave.

Give them this small ground a refuge to save
from death by scythe and the lack of splendor.
Let them mark my plot as an arrogant slave's.

For it was in life no comfort I gave,
no pity for flower, love or cinder.
Let grand swathes of weeds cover my grave

and be warned all who see and not deprave
such joys of life we gladly surrender.
Let them share this spot with vanity's slave.

Let weeds flows over me, wave after wave,
may I in death be their meek defender?
Let wildflowers bloom lofty on my grave,
may they mark my plot, may I be their slave.
