Birds of Paradise

Birds of paradise bloom and fall like a shooting star, Red ones are juxtaposing lips when wrens are kissing; Brilliantly gliding from huge foliage seen from afar. They marvelously stand and hung on where they are, In kaleidoscope of colors, they’re all glistening; Birds of paradise bloom and fall like a shooting star. Their lasting freshness is a blessing from the altar In orange, yellow, red and purple- they’re all amazing; Brilliantly gliding from huge foliage seen from afar. Their dazzling beauty is the sweetest song that soothes my scar In its various colors, red with yellow is the best hymn I’ll sing Birds of paradise bloom and fall like a shooting star. Ambling along an avenue of those flowers quite so far As if leading into the vista of paradise –the most wonderful feeling Brilliantly gliding from huge foliage seen from afar. Bestowing its enchantment to someone may ward off war Red gears for a blazing love , yellow for unwavering spirit of sharing Birds of paradise bloom and fall like a shooting star Brilliantly gliding from huge foliage seen from afar.

MY GARDEN

My garden is such a colourful sight,
with pretty roses and scented sweet peas.
An abundance of blooms, what pure delight!

Beautiful butterflies gently alight
on flowers dancing on the summer breeze.
My garden is such a colourful sight

Sweet night scented stocks abloom at midnight
their aroma is always sure to please.
An abundance of blooms, what pure delight!

Carnations in purple, scarlet and white
are visited by busy bumble bees.
My garden is such a colourful sight

A haven for birds I watch them in flight
they alight on peach blossom from the trees.
An abundance of blooms, what pure delight!

Pretty pansies smile in clay pots so bright
I love beautiful flowers such as these.
My garden is such a colourful sight
An abundance of blooms, what pure delight!

To Taste Loves Bloom

This enduring smile of loves illusions
Delicate in nature to harm or fate
Sweet of taste, these pervasive delusions.

Thriving in what seems boundless profusion
From youths budding blossoms that will not wait
This enduring smile of loves illusions

My heart lays prey to welcomed intrusions
Petals that fall cannot possible sate
Sweet of taste, these pervasive delusions.

Bearing no fruit in darkened seclusion
Hope's brightness and cheer must never abate
This enduring smile of loves illusions.

Bright its color that bares no confusion
That with Gods greatness could only create
Sweet of taste, these pervasive delusions.

True in hope, pray my only conclusion
Be boundless love that my heart celebrates
This enduring smile of loves illusions
Sweet of taste, these pervasive delusions.

The Ardent Rose

While holding frail roses close to the breast,
I think of a dawn, so perfect and fair,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

I watched from the window, you were recessed,
deep in thorn bushes, gold in your hair,
while holding frail roses close to the breast

You seemed like a child, barefoot, at best,
pulling a weed, as the breeze stirred the air,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

You looked to the sky, your thoughts off somewhere,
as if you knew time was fragile, at best,
while holding frail roses close to the breast

I think you knew then, how moments, compressed
must fade like the rose, when autumn prepares,
ardent with sunlight and warm on the crest

I've learned through the years, how timeless and blessed
are keepsakes we hold, like roses, once pressed,
while holding frail roses close to my breast,
ardent with sunlight, and warm on the crest

Violet Ladyslipper

A violet ladyslipper’s seed did fly On tropic breezes to cold forest’s womb Her hidden beauty, a gift to the eye Past bluebirds, saffron and red butterfly On wings of her soul dream to come abloom A violet ladyslipper’s seed did fly A common pine this seed did dignify This blooming desire, her heart did consume Her hidden beauty, a gift to the eye To survive, pitched struggle in forest dry The delicate orchid’s dreams met their doom A violet ladyslipper’s seed did fly Her blossom was meager, yet seeds nigh Fairest fate was not woven on God’s loom Her hidden beauty, a gift to the eye And ever her seedlings did multiply In plumage full, daughters did bloom A violet ladyslipper’s seed did fly Her hidden beauty, a gift to the eye 6/19/16 For Contest: Villanelle Me a Flower Sponsor: Broken Wings

April Showers

                                         With April showers gentle rain
From clouds of silver tinged with grey,
                                          Reflecting through the windowpane.

                                          Springtime weaves magic once again.
New life on earth grows day by day,
                                           With April showers gentle rain.

Spring sings again her sweet refrain!
                                           A chorus to natures bouquet.
                                           Reflecting through the windowpane,

                                           A sunlit rainbow will ordain,
                                           Springs crowning glory on display,
                                           With April showers gentle rain.

A shady glade a leafy lane,
                                           Adorned with flowers wild array.
                                           Reflecting through the windowpane,

That daily journey on the train,
Those changing scenes that throng the way.
                                            With April showers gentle rain,
                                            Reflecting through the windowpane.

A Rainbow Flower For Valentine

(Valentine Villanelle Challenge)

A RAINBOW FLOWER FOR VALENTINE

I sow with love, and see my petals show.
I wake myself in what I need not fear.
I pause and ponder how love grows and glow.

We see by looking in and out, you know.
I hear your soul sing each time I am near,
I sow with love, and see my petals show.

Some folks we see excited, which are you?
God set the stage! I shall mount softly there,
And pause and ponder how love grows and glow.

Love stalks the heart; but can you tell us how?
The busy bee brings us the best gold nectar;
I sow with love, and see my petals show.

Good neighbors with so many things to show,
To you and me; they love the lively air,
And, fairly, pause by thinking love does grow.

This valentine, I'm ready, I do know.
What provides joy is always, and is near;
I sow with love, and see my petals show.
I pause and ponder how love grows and glow.

Angel Orchids

Sweet angel orchids, tender pearls of white, glistening in the misty morning dew. Perfumed with scents that bring senses delight. Inspiration for a poet to write, as eyes become mesmerised by their view. Sweet angel orchids, tender pearls of white. When held, ivory petals feel so lite, their image like a celestial statue. Perfumed with scents that bring senses delight. In the sun they glow with their halo bright, like a group of angels waiting in queue. Sweet angel orchids, tender pearls of white How elegantly they bask in sunlight, and in monsoons they remain strong like glue. Perfumed with scents that bring senses delight. They glow among the moon and stars at night. How sad in the world there are just a few. Sweet angel orchids, tender pearls of white, perfumed with scents that bring senses delight.

Checked on www.howmanysyllables.com The Angel orchid - Habenaria Grandifloriformis is an exquisite orchid species from the open high-altitude grasslands of southern India. It was first described by Charles McCann and Ethelbert Blatter in 1932, and is noted for its beautiful, white bi-lobed petals which with a little imagination resemble a levitating, cloaked angel. Villanelle A 19-line poem consisting of five tercets and a final quatrain on two rhymes. The first and third lines of the first tercet repeat alternately as a refrain closing the succeeding stanzas and joined as the final couplet of the quatrain.

Sunflowers - Ring Of Fire

Sunflowers - Ring Of Fire

Of all the lovely flowers God has made,
there is one beauty that has touched my heart,
with petals marching round like on parade.

A golden vision with large center, shade
of brown and deep red hues...one work of art
of all the lovely flowers God has made.

Most often lanky, long, a sturdy grade,
with graceful leaves attached that stand apart,
with petals marching round like on parade.

Bright fiery sunflowers oft seen arrayed
in fields and gardens, standing tall and smart,
of all the lovely flowers God has made.

Oh lovely ring of fire, your flames portrayed
like dancers poised at center taking part
with petals marching round like on parade.

Your red-gold beauty beckons to persuade,
that your bold, striking wonder tops my chart
of all the lovely flowers God has made,
with petals marching round like on parade.

It Happened Like This

They conquered land before habitations --
Viridiplantae or, simply, plantae.
It was swell: Oxygen fungitations.

Until arthropods assumed their stations
(Or, perhaps, eight-legged crustaceans).
They conquered land before habitations --

Those rude, plated pests swarmed the green nations:
An ever eating, egg laying mess -- still,
It was swell: Oxygen fungitations.

Old root fauna demanded cessations;
And, therein, they devised a cunning skill:
They conquered land before habitations --

Placate those fleshy abominations
With sexy flowers and sweet nectar treats.
It was swell: Oxygen fungitations.

The bugs went wild with mushroom gyrations --
Until the Vegans collected their eats....
They conquered land before habitations --
It was swell: Oxygen fungitations.

CLUSTERS OF BLOOMS

As clusters of blooms rustle to sashay, Peonies, roses, and lilies delight With hints of peach, of gold in fine array! Their rich fragrance wafts on a summer day Adorning the lane with dewed petals bright; As clusters of blooms rustle to sashay. How these florets dance beneath morning’s ray Like embroidered sheaths that waltz through the night, With tints of peach, of gold in fine array! I cuddle each one gently while bird-songs play Of starlit tunes on a heavenly flight, As clusters of blooms rustle to sashay. O peonies, lilies, roses so gay This heart chooses you in a most blest rite; With tints of peach, of gold in fine array! Such joy you give, now my wedding bouquet Through one lustrous moment, vows I recite As clusters of blooms rustle to sashay; With tints of peach, of gold in fine array! ........................ 6/20/2016 Broken Wings' Villanelle Me a Flower or Flowers Syl count checked at howmanysyllables.com

Flower of Love

a breaking dawn collects the sun’s first rays
my flower daydreams but she seems content
a love match is what set the day ablaze

wonderful winds of change filled her long days
so many fragrant messages, breeze sent
a breaking dawn collects the sun’s first rays

high noon brings a bee that stops, but he stays
he discovered her fragrant and sweet scent
a love match is what set the day ablaze

he won’t share his treasure; persistence pays
carnal pursuits rewarded, time well spent
a breaking dawn collects the sun’s first rays

a mutual reward grew a love haze
the sun drove the night from a love lament
a love match is what set the day ablaze

the full moon wrapped the pair as one always
the flower of love now their true intent
a breaking dawn collects the sun’s first rays
a love match is what set the day ablaze

Sprays of Flowers For My Woven Basket

Bathing in the afterglow of sunset,
nature’s inflorescence meadows charm tread.
Sprays of flowers for my woven basket.

Gleam before the blooms fade and all forget.
Lavender, Daffodil, Take Me Instead!
Bathing in the afterglow of sunset.

Balm Jasmine, Hyacinth, Granny’s Bonnet,
slightest glow of early morning love shed.
Sprays of flowers for my woven basket.

Marigold, Primrose, at bay ... they trumpet,
raising spring voices in radiance bed.
Bathing in the afterglow of sunset.

Freesia, Begonia, nimbus duet,
rainbow chardonnay bouquet, insect fed.
Sprays of flowers for my woven basket.

Splashes of color for the daily fret,
nourishing aglow with warmth, grace breath spread.
Bathing in the afterglow of sunset.
Sprays of flowers for my woven basket.

She Tenderly Grows

Beneath the sunlit willow lies a rose, a pink surprise in the morning dew light, fresh and quietly she tenderly grows. She's as sensitive as a poet's prose, God’s gifted us with a marvelous sight, beneath the sunlit willow lies a rose. Yesterday morn’ in comfort she arose, petals flourishing in God’s sweet delight, fresh and quietly she tenderly grows. She enlivens with day beams when morose, blooms with elegance like pigeons in flight, beneath the sunlit willow lies a rose. During sundown when she decides to close, she sleeps gently throughout the starlit night, fresh and quietly she tenderly grows. Nourishing beauty when she does expose, blossoming with efflorescence so bright, beneath the sunlit willow lies a rose, fresh and quietly she tenderly grows. Old Blooms Will Slowly Fade - for contest

Old Blooms Will Slowly Fade

Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
at the edge of darkness’s waning light
for love will warm them always with its sigh
deny the stinging truth of flowered lie
caress them in memoried folds of night.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
resurrected in hearts that still defy
sad coldness of the moment they felt blight
for love will warm them always with its sigh
exhale the passioned tears lovers can’t cry
breathe into them the thrill of scents first sight.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
hearts echoing prayers without reply
bask in love’s distant dreams of wingless flight
for love will warm them always with its sigh
color again loves cheeks in blushing shy
slow trace once more the face of blooms delight.
Old blooms will slowly fade but never die
for love will warm them always with its sigh.

When flowers basked in sunlight

Clouds had melted and sun was shinning bright harmony in garden sun-rays did bring, Roses were shy, daisies danced in delight. Sunflowers waved at sun, what a great sight their petals were perfectly placed in ring, Clouds had melted and sun was shinning bright. Lilies felt drowsy had not slept last night silently admired sun, didn't say a thing, Roses were shy, daisies danced in delight. Calm breeze swayed the flowers from left to right flowers bloomed, butterflies began to cling, Clouds had melted and sun was shinning bright. Purple pansies peeped as they had small height range of colours held the elegant spring, Roses were shy, daisies danced in delight. Flowers were excited, basked in sunlight while swarming bees stopped by, started to sing, Clouds had melted and sun was shinning bright, Roses were shy, daisies danced in delight. June 20, 2016. Flowers For Constance

(In working within the boundaries of structured form, I sometimes change things up just a bit, making the form my own. In the case to this Villanelle I have changed up the last two lines just a tiny bit.)

These flowers from my heart are sunlight kissed,
pretty flowers that remind me of her -
in silence she finds her love in a mist.

When fog rolls in, she just can't resist
his true heart which beckons her to linger -
these flowers from my heart are sunlight kissed.

So long ago; true love; now sorely missed,
and tragic, the parting fate did incur -
in silence she finds her love in a mist.

Day by day she continues to persist,
wandering the stones as tearful eyes blur -
these flowers from my heart are sunlight kissed.

Alone on her journey, this soloist,
moves forward in time, such beauty demur -
in silence she finds her love in a mist.

When Heaven opens for this poetess,
she'll find him standing in the light, so sure,
the love in his soft heart is sunlight kissed -
Silently she passes love in a mist.

Love Blooms

The blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light,
their silver leaves wave a gentle goodbye,
as delicate petals dream through the night.

Longing tendrils search with all of their might
weaving latticed lace, while in darkened sky,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light.

Shadows darken and the flowers sleep tight,
awaiting the morning with silenced sigh,
as delicate petals dream through the night.

Cold, the wind's breath whispers growing delight,
as the buds thrill in their brushed rainbow dye,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light.

Emotion's warmth grows in this lovely sight
and deep in desire she knows she must try,
as delicate petals dream through the night.

In the glow of her dreams, her heart alight,
she waits a time when we'll watch, she and I,
the blooms drip dew drops in misty moon light
as delicate petals dream through the night.

BEARDS AND STANDARDS OF IRIS LOVERS

BEARDS AND STANDARDS OF IRIS LOVERS Velvet soft petals, red roses for lips - Come dance in her garden, close to the moon. Blue irises shy, with partial eclipse. Daffodil dizzy, with laughter and dips. Heady with honeysuckle, she does swoon. Velvet soft petals, red roses for lips. With her bearded iris – lover’s friendship, Pretty butterfly out of her cocoon - Blue irises shy, with partial eclipse. “Falls” and pulses race. She’s afraid she’ll slip. Fanning themselves - they have fun, they festoon. Velvet soft petals, red roses for lips. He drinks coffee. She sips tea – with rose hips. Passion flowers, soul mates, great love – in bloom. Villanelle Me A Flower Or Flowers

Some true beauties without the blue
I picked from a small, fragrant garden;
yes, Nature gives very freely, I do too.

One pink orchard, one red dahlia to
give to anyone who is sadder than I;
some true beauties without the blue.

Something found by chance can ensue,
giving it away causes a feeling of joy;
yes, Nature gives very freely, I do too.

The flowers I hold are for pretty Sue,
even carelessness can damage them;
some true beauties without the blue.

Lovely flowers can make dream anew
of the lovely girl with the sweet voice;
some true beauties without the blue.

At the gate where the hyacinths grow,
I've met someone with eyes that glow;
some true beauties without the blue...
yes, Nature gives very freely, I do too.

A Bouquet For You From My Garden

Hold my hand and I'll walk you through the blooms
Smiling and carpetting your brick walkway
Their charisma will blow away your glooms

Tiger lilies from hills open their plumes
I'll bouquet a few along the pathway
Hold my hand and I'll walk you through the blooms

The crossandra is one of my heirlooms
Dad's gifts can crackle into life all day
Their charisma will blow away your glooms

How about the sprayed dendodrium blooms?
Green houses cool orchids in hottest may
Hold my hand and I'll walk you through the blooms

Grassy ferns and tuberoses' perfumes
Will add lushness and fragrance rightaway
Their charisma will blow away your glooms

I'll bow them in silver to flaunt your rooms
Have a great day! And if you come this way
Hold my hand and I'll walk you through the blooms
Their charisma will blow away your glooms

Flourishing Frescoes

Colourful fair frescoes of fine powers,
Found in the florid field that's blushing green
With fresh fragrance of flourishing flowers;

Sure to shine in the shimmering showers,
They shake in the shrubbery with sheer sheen,
Colourful fair frescoes of fine powers;

Happy to house these heavenly bowers
Huddled in all hues - a heart-warming scene
With fresh fragrance of flourishing flowers;

Roses reigning with a gleam that glowers,
Lined alongside lovely lilies, are seen -
Colourful fair frescoes of fine powers;

Mystical marigolds' superpowers
Do enliven the enigmatic screen
With fresh fragrance of flourishing flowers;

Tranquil, I traverse through these timeless hours,
Reverently relishing the umpteen
Colourful fair frescoes of fine powers,
With fresh fragrance of flourishing flowers.

Sublime Flowers

Would be so colorless without flowers
A glimpse of the heaven’s mystical street
A reminder of God’s sublime powers

Smiling at the world after spring showers
Tulips, lilacs-nature’s unique free treat
Would be so colorless without flowers

Not one wise chemist working insane hours
Can ever conjure up fragrance so sweet
A reminder of God’s sublime powers

Adorning tombs of beloved dead of ours
Love and sorrow, flowers say at their feet
Would be so colorless without flowers

How to say it, the lad in love cowers
A red rose helps unlock his tongue indeed
A reminder of God’s sublime powers

Trapped in life’s concrete towns, roads and towers
Orchids in a pot make me smile and tweet
Would be so colorless without flowers
A reminder of God’s sublime powers

Sprays of Lilacs

My garden is dressed in lavender lace. Fragrant flowers blooming in sweet array. Sprays of lilacs bring a smile to my face. Delicate charmers, swaying with such grace, lure hummingbirds and bees with their display. My garden is dressed in lavender lace. Butterfly wings enfold them in embrace. A few branches make a lovely bouquet. Sprays of lilacs bring a smile to my face. Planted near my porch is the perfect place, their scent will linger for many a day. My garden is dressed in lavender lace. Arranged with ivy in cut crystal vase, they brighten the room, painted soft dove grey. Sprays of lilacs bring a smile to my face. When fresh blooms are needed I will replace them with new spikes. The dried become sachet. My garden is dressed in lavender lace. Sprays of lilacs bring a smile to my face.

Helios and Clytie

Sunflower, accursed, to stand and stare,
And Clytie was her fair begotten name.
Cursed she was to gaze into the sun's glare.

Leucothea was Helios' lady fair,
A love fallen prey to jealousy's game.
Sunflower, accursed, to stand and stare.

Helios' love was lust she did declare,
Harlot - did Clytie Leucothea defame.
Cursed she was to gaze into the sun's glare.

Leucothea burned at a stake in a flare.
Clytie pined for Helios without shame.
Sunflower accursed to stand and stare.

Angered Helios at this state , unfair,
Turned her to flower - Helianthus fame .
Cursed she was to gaze into the sun's glare.

She stares at the sun with no one to care,
At night she weeps with her remorse laid bare.
Sunflower, accursed, to stand and stare,
Cursed she was to gaze into the sun's glare.
