Out of the Sun

             in the sun
              to long
The skin became the bark of a tree
the soul turning to brittle scars
 for uncaring worlds to see.
             my face
            is a pile of
           old owl bones
sewn into banks of midnight creeks...
even the plump, over ripened ones
no longer look at me...
but if their car was desert flat,
their oil grim reaper black
they'd paint a wormy, water colored smile...
slide it through my barbed wired heart
so long as I could spin the jack...
so I spin it until their potholes turn to satin-
              in the sun
               to long
the mind has smoothed over
like pebbles in Saturn rings..
a forgotten spice in the conversation of life
an hour later the word snuggles up to me

Tomorrow or forever( which ever comes first),
I'll stay wrapped inside
till my skin turns back to ivory
to an easter egg yesterday
to a time of bouncing ball and spinning jack,
when the mind was a great silky nest...
the face a flowered meadow place
where watercolors swirled all day,
the heartworms kept at bay.

I'll stay hidden within the briar,
till the jewels of memories sooth
every scar - every stripe,
the molten knots of cruelty,
till the sweetened fruit reclaims the tree.
until then only my curtains breathe...
       ...stayed in the sun
              to long

Goodbye Sun Hello Moon

As I say bye to the Sun I greet the moon
It's the end of another day
Winter is here so our visit was short
I hate when the Sun goes away

I trust it to Yanny on her side of the World
She patiently waited to start her day
The moon was her companion
Thankfuly she sent it back my way

The moons lesser light
Is not it's light at all
It has been borrowed from the Sun
A mere reflection of perfection
That's meant to be shared with everyone

I smile at the Moon
Yanny greets the Sun
It's time to put my computer away
I say good morning to Yanny
And wish her an extrordinary day

Dedicated to Yanny a Ray of Sunshine from the other side
of the World.

Thoughts of You

Random thoughts of you run
randomly throughout my mind,
as I hold, looking through a simple picture of you and I,
smiles and holding each other,
embracing warmth brings me to sanity,
watching your hand on my forearm,
as you gaze into my eyes.
Oh the tears flood such emotion,
only you and I now in such madness we call love,
such madness we all call life,
such madness we all call reality.

Thoughts of me without you,
I cannot bear to see such a sight in mind,
to hear such words that tear my heart out
and sadness stabs me rapidly in the back,
and I can't bear to see such a sight as this.
Thoughts of you
running randomly throughout my mind,
my hair turns silver and white with stress
of not being with you,
and my liver covered with cancer,
and lungs black with smoke,
and stomach embraced with ulcers.

All I ask for you,
is not to be a thought anymore,
and come back to me in flesh and bone
in a portrait painting of you in reality
come to me with your beauty and glory
and kind heart and hold me again,
and let me kiss you again and love you again,
and call you mine again.
Don't say it is impossible,
when you know and I know,
that it is in fact possible
to love each other once again.

September Weather

Ah, the september weather is here,
the trees turn firery red and orange,
and the leaves gently fall to the surface.

Fall is here,
and the grass turns from green to yellow,
the souls of many change their ways.

From going on beaches in sun
to walking on wet streets,
with jackets on.

September weather is here,
too most it is depressing to see,
such change in the world.

But I love it.
The girlfriends and boyfriends go away,
and that makes me happy.
Then I go apple picking.

I pick red apples,
from low, hanging apple trees.
and I eat one, while walking down the trail.

Fall is here,
the time of death,
the last of sunshine.

I don't argue,
I love fall,
it is so cosy and it gives me hope.

Hope that a day will come again,
when the sun pops its head out
and the warmth returns.

September weather is the best,
when summer is gone, but not quite,
and the cool breeze sweaps through your open windowpane.

I love fall,
it gives me hope,
that with death comes life.

Scarlet Moons and Indian Suns

Written August 29, 2013

She could have had my son
As we'd spell our names as one
On scattered ocean shores
Beneath that Indian sun

I loved my ma
And I loved her well
I loved my pa
And that musty smell

I hope to see them some day soon
I hope to see them smiling too
This Earth they left a bit too soon
Much thanks unto the scarlet moon

Some day well all be joined as one
Under scarlet moons and Indian suns

I love my family
How I miss this feeling
Of constant embrace
Awaiting at my feet

So come and pray for rain
To wash away our pain
Before the winter stains
What autumn left to drain

I hope to see them some day soon
I hope to see them smiling too
This Earth they left a bit too soon
Much thanks unto the scarlet moon

Some day well all be joined as one
Under scarlet moons and Indian suns

Goodbye my Summer Love

Though the midnight summer rains
as we sit together under the geraniums,
hanging low and at full bloom,
we hold hands and talk of old times;
times that were kind to us and our youth.
As summer storms light up the night skies
We kiss the storm away, as it rolls through the grey skies
and the lighting cracks the clouds in half,
riping a hole in the universe, as we kiss the night away.

We sit throughtout nightlong summer dreams
and talk, and we hear the storms roll into the golden hills
of summer meadows filled with roses and a field full of daisies.
Love rests in time to see us grow old together,
and love strengthens its walls and pulls us closer together.
We shall go now, as day turns to night,
into our chamber of love and sleep the night away, together.
Hold us close to each other, as I rest my head on you sweet bossom,
and you nurture me to life of talks of love and beauty.

Nature whispers and sings us songs,
as we kiss and go for walks through the countryside
looking at the golden hills soaked in the rolling storms
that summer offers every year, upon a silver platter.
Sooth me, my love as I tell you of the sorrow I have witnessed.
Embrace me with your curiousity and tell me of the beauty in
the secrets of life and its hidden messangers
that hold secret letters from Devils that send temptations
to destroy something that we share, that is so beautiful and true.
Tell me that life will be okay, and my love is still true and with you.
Tell me my sweet and beautiful love, tell me if everything will be alright.

Love has seen us come and go, through the narrowed and sprinkled streets,
as we move through life fused at hands and eyes blind, not noticing the possiblities of death at any moment stalking us with knives jabbing at our backsides.
We are blind, for we see each other and only each other.
As we live life eyes a blazed looking at the sun, we do not notice the obvious between us.
Caring from me, at my time of need I never noticed the betrayal of our love.
My heart sees, but I deny the obvious and see what I hear.

As I see the knife drive deep in my heart,
you with a suitcase in hand,
I stand on my front steps and I watch the summer storms
come back over the golden hills to say, "hello"
Love is the same everytime, like a summer storm;
beautiful to watch, but when it leaves, it is depressing to say, "goodbye"
Now I sit, as the geraniums dry up and die
and the wrinkles at my eyes make me blind,
I see love walk past my house and mock me with lone kisses.

Sunlight Farewell

Against the setting sun, I see black silhouettes The sparrows circle, then swoop down, to gather leaves, and violets They weave and build small bassinets Then, sun slips down to take a rest So gently with a golden crown, sun fades away behind the hills And ills are left behind, as darkness slips around

Where Do The Butterflies Go

Teardrops of dews glistening
Breaks the days of dawn
Caterpillars shedding shells of cocoon
Awakening with yawns

The little fairies quaintly appear
Dancing their favorite dances, all the day long
But, where do the butterflies dance to
When the sun hides her head...
And the days are shamelessly gone?

They fill up my gardens
Frolic from tip of tulip to end of the rose
Next to sunflower, daffodil the flutter flies flown
Never attempting to speak even one little peep
Keeping their precious secrets
From sun up until the sundown

A parade of floats
Viceroy to the Monarch whom he tries to pretend
Royal and regal, ginger and black
Passes the hours while waltzing with flowers
But where does each of them go as processions end?

Dainty, the Painted lady curtseys
Among the swallowtails that swan through the weed
And the Admirals through the blade
But soon to hide away
Flying rainbows of season’s beginning to fade

And my magical gardens now they are bare
The little fairies all have disappeared
Following the whisper of wisps, of a new winter’s air

It’s the beginning of autumn
And soon will come the billows of snow
Did they take journey to a summer, in a far away land
Where oh, where did the butterflies go

Climbing Eternity

Long shadows grow, as sunlight fades, with a bridge from the earth to sky
The purple mountains stretch their peaks, and tip-toe to the sun
If mountains fill eternity, we will strive to climb them all

There is no urge more keen or sure than to watch the sun ease down
No other birth defies description, as to see the stars appear
Earth's oldest rituals, again renewed, have taken all my words

Why is it that our deepest love
is not enough to hold you?
What demons still torment you
even as loved arms enfold you?
Though the skies are dark and grey
the sun will shine another day.
Why is it you don't know this?
God takes us through the winter's sting
with his sweet promises of spring
and pleasant days of bliss.

The sun is shining bright today.
You wouldn't wait. You went away.

Midnight is almost here

Long after the sun has set,
and the moon has been out for sometime,
and it is full,
and a couple stars twinkle
with no remorse,
the sky is dark purple and blue.
The headlights from hotrods shine through my living room window,
as I sit there listening to the classical station
on the radio
and I sit hunched over my typewriter,
a cigarette hanging from my mouth,
a half bottle of red wine at my possession.
I look at the clock upon the wall,

11:45 P.M.

Ah, midnight is almost here.
Midnight, the turn of a new day,
as I sit there
I breath in,
feel my heart skip a beat,
I turn to the radio and click it off.
the classical nocturne of Chopin disappears into thin air.
I put out my cigarette,
cork the bottle of wine.
I type one last poem,
before the end of the night,
before the night goes away
into the past.
Then I think to myself,
Goodbye old day,
oh, what memories I created along with the shining of the sun?
Then I write about the midnight slowly approaching,
slowly climbing to the zero hour,
the hour of:
a new day,
a new hour,
a new life,
a new start,
a new woman,
a new adventure,
a new everything,
a new anything,
a new politician,
a new choice of lunch,
a new walk around the block,
a new time,
a new day,
a new sun,
and a new moon,
and after a new day,
a new night,
and another midnight,
and a new cigarette with be lit,
a new bottle of wine will be open,
and drunk with responsibility,
and all will be good
and everything with come into place,
with a new day,
and a new life,
a new midnight.
The start of a night soon will come.

It is now 11:52 P.M.

I've been writing
for seven minutes,
eight more minutes till a new day,
till a new beginning!
I'm tired,
I'm going to bed.
Have a goodnight.

Lake Michigan

on the banks of lake michigan i found my true loves soul
tired and twisted in a wreckage of folded metal resembeling avatgard sculptures

nameless, senseless, and cold i drug her from the wreckage while the sky was painted red and black
now with the moon in my eyes i breathe life into her mouth but each breathe given means each breathe taken

as as the sun begins to rise i see visions of a former life- forgotten life when we once loved eachother-
when we were children dancing in the spring rain
warm and wet we embrace under endless rainbows saturated with everything under the sun

we become spring rain, we become one

now with the coming of the day i say farewell to past love, i say farewell to past life
where im goin no man can follow
im going to the sun so i can stay warm.

The Admirals Sun

                                             The Admiral’s Sun 5th draft – 6-11-2014
A pedestal for your glory and the ego’s your command,
your shadow darkens the people you demand.

Your rusting medals are demanding a respect,
beyond the value of those you do neglect.

The world is learning to shun this bloody valor,
well past due for society’s defining hour.

Beyond your limitations you dared not tread,
your father’s path repeated with dread.

Higher thinking would have polished your crown,
surpassing the gleam that soon finds the ground

Senility and death are your only companions now,
emptiness your spouse and still she does frown.

Sunrise Lost

The crescent beats a retreat,
To his burnish’d chamber of onyx and slate,
Slivers of orange grab a cobalt sky,
Like fingers in a palette of paint.
Silent whispers cross the skies,
A golden light shall bathe
The ebony trunks of eternity
And the green of forever more.
Flamboyant and decadent, the fiery seraph rises,
And tugs at the dreary cover of blank slumber.
There’s a noiseless yawn, the sentinel shall convey,
The truth of a live new day.
But the bodies that stretch and eyes that gaze
Care not for such lovelorn wonders.
They prowl behind glass dungeons and cadaverous devices,
Disbelieving, not achieving, blind and unaware.
The ochre king rules again,
His realm as far as one can see.
Love’s abound as I hold thy hand,
It’s a sunrise lost to the world but me.

Lord I'm so tired of being so damn tired. Sure wish I knew how not to get wired. The sun goes up,the sun goes down, this old world keeps spinning round. One of these days I'm gonna hit the ground and just lay there with this big frown.I'm thinking I need to step off this ride and just lay my troubles all to the side. But it's ok this won't last long,Because I'm gonna get my ass up and just go home,And when noone ever get's to see me again, they can all just say that they knew me when.So you take care and don't you cry, because you will get to see me again on the other side............. "GOODBYE". 2013

Farewell Sunset

There was something in the way
That the sun left the sky that day;

And when the Sun began to sink
The way the orange and red and pink

Dissolved and blended through
The green and brown and blue

On my beloved, sweet bayou
Somehow, I think I knew...

This storm was coming with my name
And we would never be the same

You and me, our chosen city
Would soon be named a nation’s pity;

This farewell sunset calls to me,
Beckons us to come live free

And forever let the fires burn
Until one day we can return

Sun Rose Merely To Reflect Her Glow

Sun Rose Merely To Reflect Her Glow

As her hair flew about, so did my heart,
unknown to me but a vision then loved.
So very strange, way our time got its start,
how she later became my beloved.

Glittering sparkles in her bright blue eyes,
as sun rose merely to reflect her glow
She that merely touched to fill my skies
always smiling as if time she could slow.

Her memory, shall I ever forget,
grace in her walking, sweetness in her voice
I first spoke to her on a friendly bet
now she would be my only loving choice.

Such glowing warmth in her big, bright blue eyes
Her being gone, left me asking the whys?

Caressed By The Sun

The sun is exceedingly caressing my spirit,
With the anticipation of a new dawn,
I treasure the moment,
As a new day has begun.

Cognizant of the wonder,
Of which I am about to partake,
A feeling of self doubt,
I hope to leave in its wake.

The warmth on my temper,
Gives me a contented smile,
Ever knowing it would,
Last only a short while.

As the moon kisses adieu,
To the sun’s vanishing light,
I welcome the darkness,
With its intrigue so bright.
