The Storm

And the storm calls to me in ways you'll never understand
A gentle call that urges my soul forth
The lighting guiding a path for my feet to walk
Between the stones and ash of all that once was
I stand in the echoing silence of the rain
It drops down upon my skin like the blessing waters of heaven
Soothing me, lifting the weight from my body
I feel at once as if I am home
Standing amid two dimensions
Caught between two skies - here and there
The night wraping around me in warmth
The gentle wind lifting me off my feet
Drops from the clouded moon washing away my body
and I am left just a soul, an essence
The storm calls me forth from beneath my roof
Beckoning me into its depth
I stand among the reeds in the basin
They dance and sway as if welcoming me
And I sway with them back
Caught up in the power that charges the air
That threatens to sweep me away
If the ground will just loosen its hold
The thunder rumbles a low welcoming growl
And I get pleasently lost within it
I am so small compared to its vastness
I close my eyes and succumb to the skies wishes
Rising higher until my feet no longer touch the ground
My fingertips touch the liquid color of the stars
A sigh drifts from my lips
There is no need of thought to stay afloat
There is no demand to breathe in air
No crushing weight upon my chest
As my lungs struggle to survive
There are no struggles here
I make my bed on blackened clouds
And give in to the call
The storm has claimed me as its own
It was such a struggle to stay upon the ground
When the storm would call me home

When the Earth was in danger 6

When the Earth was in danger 6

Prelude
This story is based partly on the Indian mythology and partly
on my imagination. The story theme is anger, which can destroy
even the entire Earth, but if controlled it can also
be converted into creative energy. The incident is from the
mythology of Hindus, which speaks, how Shiva the
supreme God of Hindus started one day his Tandava Nritya * or the
Dance of destruction and how it was controlled … ..
What was the cause of this anger would
be explained in the concluding part of this epic.

Part 6

Spring Goddess was stunned and speechless for a while,
When the Earth noticed something new in Urvashi*
Even the enchanting magic of spring too,
was wondering with eyes wide open,

The fall of Urvashi* may lead to an end,
of everyone’s hopes and dreams,
The only thought hovering on their mind was that
the end of Earth was inevitable.

Because the last of their hopes to save the Earth
had fainted with the fall of Urvashi,*

Everyone had started in their mind,
the beginning of the reverse counting.

They feared because of the fall of Urvashi,*
which had stopped the Tandava* dance of Lord Shiva,

The cosmic destruction of the Earth and the Universe would start,
Any moment from the third* eye of Lord Shiva. 23

By then, Urvashi* and the goddess of spring
had created an unprecedented intoxication in the air,

The entire earth was under the effect of that wonderful wine of Nature,

The enchantment had started mildly effecting Shiva,* and
it had even started cooling down,
the fire of anger burning with in Lord Shiva.

The dance effects created by the magically dancing Urvashi * and
the season of spring were in their full bloom,
while unknowingly touching the mind and steps of Lord Shiva,

The dancing steps of Urvashi* and the floating aroma of the
Goddess of spring had started creating by then,
a chain on the steps of Lord Shiva.

The lava of anger in Shiva’s third eye Trinetra,*
had started cooling down by then slowly. 24

When the Earth was in danger 07

By then the new foliage of spring had began to smile,
on the branches of every tree,

All the buds of the flower plants had started blooming,
in that new swing of season,

Fragrance coming from the sandalwood forests,
was flowing in the air all around,
intoxicating everyone and everything,

All the insects, animals and birds,
which were not conscious about this sudden change of season,

Began to dance in sweet pleasure,
after tasting the intoxication flowing in the air. 25

Even the Koyal* started its sweet spring singing,
in her most melodious voice during that time,
which she had never sang before.

The peacock also started its most colorful and
fascinating dance.

The Rivers too began to flow with the most pleasing sound,
as if they were singing a song.

The sky had opened in those moments,
its fabulous treasures of alluring colors,
to charm the entire universe.

The Sun rays coming from behind the hovering colorful clouds
were spreading on the earth,
a magical scene which no one had ever witnessed on Earth.

Such was the grandeur and wind of attractions,
everywhere on the earth,
that even Gods too got completely lost,
what to say of human beings. 26

Embodiment of Shiva* the Neelkantha*
which use to fly often high and low in the air,
were today dancing like a Peacock,
while spreading their blue wings in the air.

What had happened to the Earth,
why everyone was lost in the realm of a different world.

All the inhabitants of Earth and even of the heaven,
were keeping a silence only with folded hands.

As they were either praying to Shiva or
were silently praying to their favorite Gods
to save the earth.

ITTY BITTY BUTTERFLY

A monarch drifts in gauze costume Wildly cruising, to ride on spring’s trapeze; An effervescent flight which shines, which glows Enchanting buds through regale of mist Unto wind-tossed sways in hues of orange... Then she pirouettes, for an encore's dance. Contest: Itty bitty Contest #2: Doing it Again! For Andrea Dietrich New Poem

A Seasons Dance

Warm days herald in the spring
as she dances among young flowers
the mating call strong adds its ring
soon nestlings, calves and beavers
grow strong as she swirls past dancing

Hot flush of summer vibrant flowers
greet summer as she flashes past
in haste in case her time she flitters
falling in love a dance spell is cast

Autumn slowly following does
a dance most stately performs
she prances and flaunts on tiptoes
her stage is the forest platform

Winter grim and bleak in marches
her dance sometime very sullen
with her icy fingers she clutches
when she lets go you are heartbroken

On very rare occasions they come together
and dance around in joy of sisters united
oh what a time they have as they caper
forgetting the many times they have feuded

WINTER

WINTER

will it never end?
(this question from projection)
a stark scene indeed –
world in this awful white shroud,
memory of spring erased

but courage my friends
bountiful spring will return
in its old glory
for now a shoot breaks the snow
nether gods have awakened!

It's Spring Again

Spring has come again.
It’s time to visit good friends.
Get off of your butt.
Lay laziness aside man.
Dance and prance and make romance.

The Turning Ground

* It Leaps upon the turning ground winter is past the sun does bring the warmth of dancer’s spring love rises buds begun * The scent of coming flowers sweeps away death’s sway new life It Leaps upon the turning ground death lies untrue, no wife * It Leaps upon the turning ground the flowers, birds do care as life does fly towards the sky the song of love we share * As newness flames the hearts of kin She sleeps only no breath It Leaps upon the turning ground but life steps forth, she weds
