The Butterflies Dance - Whitney

~The Butterflies Dance~ (A Double Whitney) The sun is so warm and nice there is cheer everywhere cause spring has sprung one more time and winter so cold is now gone. The robins have returned and the hibiscus and the roses bloom again to my delight Now I see butterflies dance. Dorian Petersen Potter aka ladydp2000 copyright@2012 January.27.2015

Save A Dance

Spring hastens with praise to gift me blessings
of sunlit stories and passion in beams.
Cold winter winds rise on raven’s bruised wings
circling high above lush valleys of dreams.

The morning skies birth sights of indigo;
then afternoon shines bright in cobalt blue
till late sun dips low tied in sapphire bows.
Lost childhood mirth stills with ebony hues.

Spring days please save me golden strands of light
to reminisce when I am older still.
One more hour of precious rays 'fore night
to drive away the clinging winter chill.

I’ll wish for sky's daystar to save a dance,
then hold me close in warmth of springtime’s trance.

The Storm

And the storm calls to me in ways you'll never understand
A gentle call that urges my soul forth
The lighting guiding a path for my feet to walk
Between the stones and ash of all that once was
I stand in the echoing silence of the rain
It drops down upon my skin like the blessing waters of heaven
Soothing me, lifting the weight from my body
I feel at once as if I am home
Standing amid two dimensions
Caught between two skies - here and there
The night wraping around me in warmth
The gentle wind lifting me off my feet
Drops from the clouded moon washing away my body
and I am left just a soul, an essence
The storm calls me forth from beneath my roof
Beckoning me into its depth
I stand among the reeds in the basin
They dance and sway as if welcoming me
And I sway with them back
Caught up in the power that charges the air
That threatens to sweep me away
If the ground will just loosen its hold
The thunder rumbles a low welcoming growl
And I get pleasently lost within it
I am so small compared to its vastness
I close my eyes and succumb to the skies wishes
Rising higher until my feet no longer touch the ground
My fingertips touch the liquid color of the stars
A sigh drifts from my lips
There is no need of thought to stay afloat
There is no demand to breathe in air
No crushing weight upon my chest
As my lungs struggle to survive
There are no struggles here
I make my bed on blackened clouds
And give in to the call
The storm has claimed me as its own
It was such a struggle to stay upon the ground
When the storm would call me home

Dance Into May

On the first of May we celebrated,
Our rural town consisted of Europeans;
From Britain, France, Sweden, Finland,
And Canada, it was a community day.
    Dancing, singing,
    Fiddlers, bagpipes;
    Balloons and food,
        Neighbours young and old came.

Girls danced around the maypole singing,
And one girl was crowned Queen of May Day;
It was a carnival festival of springtime,
Houses decorated with paper streamers.
    Flower baskets,
    Sweets to delight;
    Parades and sports,
Lily of the valley flower given.

The sky above was always azure blue,
A sweet breeze drifted the lovely spring scents;
Pets and people in bright attire strolled,
We celebrated all day and into the night.
    Bonfire songs,
    Old stories told;
    Handshakes shared,
This is my first of May memory.

Spring's Dance

After the rigors of winter,
Buried by mountains of snow,
Counting the days until springtime,
Delighted to see winter go.
Emerging flowers entrance me,
Fields of daffodils brighten my day,
Gladly, I listen to bird song,
Happy to feel the sun's ray.

I welcome each sign of the springtime,
Just reacting with joy to its spell.
Kittens and puppies appearing,
Lambs, foals and new calves as well.
More birds are coming and staying.
Nests cover the branches of trees.
Odors, mysterious, surround me,
Perfuming the mild springtime breeze.

Quivers of arrows from Cupid
Reach all the young lovers in spring.
Spurring the heart of the young swain
To happily buying a ring.
Utmost beauty surrounds me,
Views through my window entrance.
Winter is now just a memory,
Xray vision unveils the spring dance.

Yearnings unnamed are the thing.
Zealously, I embrace the new spring.

When the Earth was in danger 7

Prelude

This story is based partly on the Indian mythology and partly
on my imagination. The story theme is anger, which can destroy
even the entire Earth, but if controlled it can also be converted
into creative energy. The incident is from the mythology of Hindus,
which speaks, how Shiva the supreme God of Hindus started
one day his Tandava Nritya * or the Dance of destruction and
how it was controlled …..What was the cause of this anger would
be explained in the concluding part of this epic.

When the Earth was in danger 07

By then the new foliage of spring had began to smile,
on the branches of every tree,

All the buds of the flower plants had started blooming,
in that new swing of season,

Fragrance coming from the sandalwood forests,
was flowing in the air all around,
intoxicating everyone and everything,

All the insects, animals and birds,
which were not conscious about this sudden change of season,

Began to dance in sweet pleasure,
after tasting the intoxication flowing in the air. 25

Even the Koyal* started its sweet spring singing,
in her most melodious voice during that time,
which she had never sang before.

The peacock also started its most colorful and
fascinating dance.

The Rivers too began to flow with the most pleasing sound,
as if they were singing a song.

The sky had opened in those moments,
its fabulous treasures of alluring colors,
to charm the entire universe.

The Sun rays coming from behind the hovering colorful clouds
were spreading on the earth,
a magical scene which no one had ever witnessed on Earth.

Such was the grandeur and wind of attractions,
everywhere on the earth,
that even Gods too got completely lost,
what to say of human beings. 26

Embodiment of Shiva* the Neelkantha*
which use to fly often high and low in the air,
were today dancing like a Peacock,
while spreading their blue wings in the air.

What had happened to the Earth,
why everyone was lost in the realm of a different world.

All the inhabitants of Earth and even of the heaven,
were keeping a silence only with folded hands.

As they were either praying to Shiva or
were silently praying to their favorite Gods
to save the earth.

When the Earth was in danger 6

When the Earth was in danger 6

Prelude
This story is based partly on the Indian mythology and partly
on my imagination. The story theme is anger, which can destroy
even the entire Earth, but if controlled it can also
be converted into creative energy. The incident is from the
mythology of Hindus, which speaks, how Shiva the
supreme God of Hindus started one day his Tandava Nritya * or the
Dance of destruction and how it was controlled … ..
What was the cause of this anger would
be explained in the concluding part of this epic.

Part 6

Spring Goddess was stunned and speechless for a while,
When the Earth noticed something new in Urvashi*
Even the enchanting magic of spring too,
was wondering with eyes wide open,

The fall of Urvashi* may lead to an end,
of everyone’s hopes and dreams,
The only thought hovering on their mind was that
the end of Earth was inevitable.

Because the last of their hopes to save the Earth
had fainted with the fall of Urvashi,*

Everyone had started in their mind,
the beginning of the reverse counting.

They feared because of the fall of Urvashi,*
which had stopped the Tandava* dance of Lord Shiva,

The cosmic destruction of the Earth and the Universe would start,
Any moment from the third* eye of Lord Shiva. 23

By then, Urvashi* and the goddess of spring
had created an unprecedented intoxication in the air,

The entire earth was under the effect of that wonderful wine of Nature,

The enchantment had started mildly effecting Shiva,* and
it had even started cooling down,
the fire of anger burning with in Lord Shiva.

The dance effects created by the magically dancing Urvashi * and
the season of spring were in their full bloom,
while unknowingly touching the mind and steps of Lord Shiva,

The dancing steps of Urvashi* and the floating aroma of the
Goddess of spring had started creating by then,
a chain on the steps of Lord Shiva.

The lava of anger in Shiva’s third eye Trinetra,*
had started cooling down by then slowly. 24

A Seasons Dance

Warm days herald in the spring
as she dances among young flowers
the mating call strong adds its ring
soon nestlings, calves and beavers
grow strong as she swirls past dancing

Hot flush of summer vibrant flowers
greet summer as she flashes past
in haste in case her time she flitters
falling in love a dance spell is cast

Autumn slowly following does
a dance most stately performs
she prances and flaunts on tiptoes
her stage is the forest platform

Winter grim and bleak in marches
her dance sometime very sullen
with her icy fingers she clutches
when she lets go you are heartbroken

On very rare occasions they come together
and dance around in joy of sisters united
oh what a time they have as they caper
forgetting the many times they have feuded

memory of spring erased

but courage my friends

for now a shoot breaks the snow
nether gods have awakened!

Oh, when will be Spring in Alexandria

Oh, when will be Spring in Alexandria,
The Chrysanths crave for company
The sea breeze brings a melody,
The day that will be spring in Alexandria.

The flowers are going to bloom,
Proud like the star-dressed Daffodil
Dancing on the windy top of the hill,
The day the flowers will bloom.

Their scent will be carried away,
with the Cherry-pie giggling jingle
covering all paths with a lilac glow,
the day the scent will be carried away.

The bumblebee will stop her dance,
On the Everlasting tiny yellow petal
Dreaming memoirs of the coming Fall,
The day the bumblebee will not dance.

There is a secret Garden in Alexandria,
Not in the deep sea, or in the library
And no other town can be as flowery
As the secret garden of Alexandria.

A Seasons Dance

Autumn, a kittens purr before wakening jolt.
Sincere colors that differ each day,
Each fall day creeps up before winters bolt.
After barrenness thrives of nature’s way,
Sensual frosty covers, arrive as new born colt.
Only bold sunlight brilliantly begins to play.
Nature’s swing of new birth begins the molt.
Spreading beautiful dancers, this shall stay.
Delivering stanzas until another natural revolt,
All the seasons parade into cascading array.
Now the bold days of summer, defend the gray.
Creating blooming artifacts upon our display,
Each year delivers, only, what we all weigh.

Petals in the wind

Entering the gates of spring A new panorama unfolding Almond blossoms all around Oodles of beauty all around Splendid white flowering trees Petals on the ground layered To welcome the onlooker to the heavenly sights Under each tree Petal showering down And playing with the wind A smile on each face Such view brings A dance of smiles and petals A dance of wind and fragrance Spring air and blossoms Dancing to the tunes of nature Wings gifted to all the viewers Each lifted to a dreamland Dreamland of heavenly bliss Each kiss of petals falling from the trees Makes you feel lighter and lighter And in no time, everyone starts dancing With those petals in the wind…

Feather Beauty Bright

I spy, a feather beauty bright
With speckled blush on breast
Basking within the thicket light
Dancing round about her tiny branch

Your fluttering sight beholding
Within the snowy briar
Bathing among the warmth
Of the morning's golden glory

Its brilliance your own crown of halo
Like a sunburst that swallows
Up the end of February's sigh
As other feathers flusters zoom right by

The ginger little fellows all dappled, scramble
A merry-go-round within a flight
Threading joyous song throughout your bramble
As further flocks of scurry, hurry fly

On parade teasing wings of faerie sprites
A musical path of crisscross kites
But, you little one are the daring, bursting forth
With higher operatic songs, to startle and scold those spry

Feather beauty bravely
Upon your perch chest thrust out boldly
Nonsense rhymes and a new found might
Chase away the imps of finch and thrush
And keep yourself the sunbeams for its light

And bask yourself once more this time
Among the drops of melting dripping snow
And gather up all tis full
Feasting here, where the wild wild berries grow

But, in the end you are their kin
And soon, my fairy feathered friend you too must go
Out, onto twittering leafy stemmy stem and off...
Into the yonder of the coming spring to rove

A Season's Dance

Bare,
Yet fair,
None can compare.
To the nude silver branches and barren expanses,
That the cool of winter doth bring.
Unless you equate the way the birds sing,
In the start of the fresh, blooming spring.
Or perhaps the warm air,
Filled with crickets’ prayer,
That’s found only in the summer’s afternoon glare.
But then there is the time of the harvest,
With leaves like the paint on the palette of an artist.
Such tender, splendor indeed, in each season is found,
For in Nature, beauty truly doth rise and abound.

Dance with me and sing the song of Spring

*** In the style of the oldies :)

Dance with me among the stars tonight
And hold me tight.
When we touch and when I kiss your lips
It feels so right.
Every word you say to me is like a song of spring,
And with you I will forever sing.

Even when the winter’s cold embrace
Touches your face,
I will make you warm inside and
I’ll be by your side
No one in this crazy world is more in love than I,
You’re the star I’ve searched for in the sky.

So, dance with me under the stars tonight,
Dance with me lets make this moment right,
Sing to me your lovely song of spring
And with you I will forever sing,
And with you I will forever sing.

Thought I can’t foretell of things to be
But you’re with me.
And this moment’s where I want to be
And tenderly
I hold every kiss and every touch and sound,
Thank you love - for it is love I found.

So, dance with me under the stars tonight,
Dance with me and make this moment right,
Sing to me your lovely song of spring
And with you I will forever sing,
And for you I will forever sing.

To Live And Die As A Winter's Spring

She was a Sumptuous Blossom...
That was born out of a Winter's Spring
Her face was framed by Glorious Red
Her eyes were the Bluest Diamonds
That the World had ever seen.

She was born with an innate Attitude
That life was created just for Her
That the Stars and the Moon and the Sun above
Existed to please Her and only Her.

She raced through life without a care
The winds of change were contained within
She relished every moment
Every breath that she'd take in.
She always knew that it could be her last
It could be the day she'd meet her end.

She came into this life with nothing
She knew that she'd leave it with nothing too
All that would be left of her would be Dust and Earth
Only the eternal Winds of Change
Would sing her Life's forgotten tune.

Nothing in life was ever to fast for her
Nothing ever skipped her mind
All she lived for were her Memories
of all Faces of the Loves she'd left behind.

She had never wanted to be the one
To have to stay in one safe place
She wanted to live on a precipice
She wanted to free fall into space.

She wanted to dance to the Inner Music
Of her own sacred heart's tune
She wanted to match her heartbeats
To the Seasonal drums
Of the eternal Sun and Moon.

She had a thirst for knowledge
And for art and beauty too
She loved the wisdom of the ancient Greeks
She lived according to their truths.

She could always see the meanings
Behind the Wheres and Whys and Whens
She possessed an intuition
A particular type of Zen.

She never ever let people see
What was behind the Diamonds of her eyes
She always felt it better that way
Rather to keep truths hidden away
Than to have to explain with a bunch of lies.

She always knew she'd die alone
She always knew that was a given
She wasn't that religious
She didn't really believe in heaven.

She believed that she would just move on
That she'd move on from place to place
That there was nothing ever Sacred
Nothing holding her in Time or Space.

She'd climb upon a White Horse
And Chase the Shooting Stars
She'd fly among the Meteor Showers
She'd dance upon the Moon
She'd travel here, She'd travel there
Eternity would never come to soon.

She'd be the One to challenge the Night
To shine as the Brighest Star
She'd be the One that you always look to see
The One that looked close but was always far.

Absolutely Smooth Mustard

There is absolutely nothing to do. Some people
fall in love. I go have a cheese sandwich
with mustard. Watch skyscraper lights from
the bed. Look at the books and decide to read
none of the dry words. The cheese sandwich is
good, and orange juice. It's cold in the kitchen
so I go back to bed even though it's Spring.

Some people go dancing in fish net stockings.
They find a good time - but exactly what this means -
it's not more important than a star. Quite
what is this waiting. Tonight I could disappear
and the world might not miss me until next year.
I remember passionate nights with some of the women
I've known. Two sides of a smooth stone.

Spring's Dance

Winter feels the coming spring
As it gasps for it's last breath
For spring has won the battle
And handed winter it's death

The flowers dance in unison
As the sparrow begins to sing
The willow tree waves it's branches
In honor of the coming spring

The brooks are bubbling over
With heightened anticipations
The clouds all cast their shadows
With familar illustrations

Winter is now a memory
As spring begins to dance
A time for new beginnings
And nature's own romance

Dance Again

There'll be flowers in our garden
to bloom for us in Spring
I plant them here for you my Love
for scents of life they bring

We'll watch them rise together
the first Spring they shall grow
as coloured carpet garden blooms
both you and I shall know...

That as we wait and watch them
by a drizzled window pane
we'll see unyielding buds that close
and fight the driving rain

See velvet dew drop petals
that seek the cherished light
and bask in breathless sunshines last
then curl and fade by night

Captured us a moment
and tho my love you ask
to quell and hold the seasons change
so life shan't come to pass

...But pass it must....
to leave you
with a seasons floral song
and know I am still with you
each Spring that comes along

Scents that send you air to breathe
pervading pure and sweet
and bring you hope to dance again
with flowers at your feet

Same old song an' dance

there's a certain kind of rhythymic beat
that can thunder in one's ears
As sunlight slips so silky warm
through freshly opened leaves
It's tragical and magical
as it causes tapping feet

One wonders how on nature's stage
The leaves fall where they may
But this is Spring and everything
is dancing here in May
Blossoms fall and through it all
Dame Weather skips and plays
and green eyed Spring
will have her fling
till lazy Summer days

posturing and postulating early morning Rain
attempts to dampen spirits lost
in chorus and refrain
But early birds had fat old worms
to help their souls retain
and gain a hint of satisfaction
and from the snails with slime wet tails
There is simply no reaction
In the seeding feeding crowd
Sun shines on Rain and in disdain
she huffs off in a cloud
helped with ease by gentle Breeze
who early morning rises
with the Sun who's just begun
with really no surprises

Natures green and sterner
when the Elements concur
but this is Season of rebirthing
animated birds and bees
one a teacher one a learnin'
Maybe Spring is envy green
I'd rather She were always seen
as envious of Erin
