Reflections: Midlife Crisis

P aranoia permeates, etching itself into your fractured face,
A cacophony of constant pressure; life remains a stressful race,
N othing to hope for, no positives like promotion in the workplace,
I nability to love, relationships lift anchor and set sail without chase,
C hildren crushing dreams under mortgages; age grows with disgrace

The Doctor Is A Dead Man Walking

Bob had a special talent
That only worked in his men’s store.
He had ‘clothing ESP’.
He knew what his customers wanted…and more.

When customer would come into his store
Bob would invariably say,
“Hello. I'm Bob. Don’t say a word.
I already know what you need today.”

And he was always right,
Never missed a color, fabric, style or size.
He even knew the necessary alterations.
Customers couldn’t believe their ears and eyes.

Meanwhile, in another part of town,
Joe had a pounding, relentless migraine
For every minute for more than five years,
It had driven him near insane.

He’d lost his job to the pain.
Then, he lost his wife.
He had lost a lot of weight and rarely slept.
Yes, his was a miserable life.

And, of course, sex was out of the question…
Even a little self-abuse.
There was nothing left for Joe but pain.
He felt his life was of no use.

So, Joe went to his doctor.
“Doc, please help me end this pain.
Give me something to make me sleep
And never wake up again.”

“You know I can’t assist your suicide.”,
Then he looked sad, perhaps ashamed.
“I never dreamed it would last five years,
But I know how to end the pain.”

“You can make it go away?!
Tell me, Doc! What’s the word?”
“I’ll have to remove your testicles.”
Was the last thing that Joe heard.

But…when he came to, it struck him.
Sex was out of the question anyway;
But he might enjoy his meals again,
And he could sleep for days.

“Please check me in, Doc.
This opportunity I cannot shirk.”
So, the doctor removed his testicles.
He did his very best work.

A few days later, Joe waddled along,
Headache free and feeling pretty nice;
But every attractive woman he saw
Reminded him of his sacrifice.

He decided it was appropriate
To do something nice for himself for a change.
So, he went into a travel agency;
And a six month cruise he arranged.

As he left the travel agency,
He was excited, feeling ready to go;
But for such a glorious adventure,
He would need new clothes.

As he walked along, he saw Bob’s Men's Store.
He walked in, only to hear Bob say,
“Hello. I’m Bob. Don’t say a word.
I already know what you need today.”

“How could you know?” asked Joe.
“It’s a gift. I don’t know how, but I do.
You’ve suffered five years with an ailment,
Found relief, so now you’re taking a cruise.”

Joe could not believe his ears.
How could this stranger possibly know?
"You're right! That's amazing!
And I'm going to need new clothes."

Bob then laid out a fabulous wardrobe
All the right colors, fabrics, styles…and each size.
Joe was incredibly impressed.
He could hardly believe his ears and eyes.

“How do you like the wardrobe?”
“It’s wonderful!” Bob could see that Joe was pleased.
“Now,” said Bob, “What about undergarments;
You know…shorts and tees?

Let’s see…medium crew neck tees, all cotton.
I believe that you prefer white….
And jockey shorts, all cotton…. 34s.
Yes, I'm sure that’s right.”

Joe beamed, “You’re an amazing talent
And I just this second realized,
You've laid out this entire wardrobe
And only missed one size.”

Bob, surprised by his mistake, asked, “Really?
What did I miss? I did my best for you.”
“Well…you’re right.” said Joe, “I do wear Jockeys,
But…well…I wear 32s.

“Oh, no!” said Bob with an ugly grimace.
“That would be a serious mistake.
Thirty-twos will cramp your balls,
You’ll get migraine headaches.”

Just What Is A Broken Dream, Anyway

A strange sight upon a lonely road.
A dream ripped in half.
Looking closer, I wonder what was the travail.
An old price tag attached, making me wonder at what price it was sold.
Along the edges, tattered and torn, it gave forth an evil laugh.
As if some sly devil concocted a way to turn someone pale.

Onward I traveled, with pack upon my back.
To the left and right of the road were littered with more broken dreams.
So many that one could not keep track.
Some having been blown into the parallel stream.

So, I checked the pack upon my back.
And, yep all my dreams were there in a stack.

Cold winds howl, trying to rip my back pack to shreds.
Freezing were the winds, but forward I march.
Never losing sight of my dreams in spite of many dreads.
They all hold up strong even though many times I'm in a lurch.

Suddenly I see people returning to the road.
Going back and picking up their dreams.
Dusting them off and restoring them to their pack.
Each and every one said to me, you are quite bold.
To go forth and not let the cold winds of fate not destroy your knack.
To face life as it comes and not give up even if offered gold.

Good, bad fortune, are likewise of no importance.
Put a failed dream back in your pack and maybe a new day will appear.
Where you can unpack that dream and give it another go.
But, for today, march forward, today's failure might tomorrow's dance.
You gave it your best, and win or lose, that game has ended with a spear.
Win or lose, that game is done so pack it's knowledge away in your pack and grow.

Suddenly down the road a new vista appears and a brand new game.
Left high and dry or victorious are the two possible ends of any venture.
But in truth, knowledge is all you will have, win or lose.
For tomorrows game is just around the bend, all the same.
Win or lose, the game of life only ends for the moment within sight of the new adventure.
So, to quit and call it the end, only makes you look like a goose.

Observer

A serpent underneath blue sky,
in shade of man, in twinkle of an eye,
above brick wall, in the structure, at the floor,
venom of white dove; contaminated food, undrinkable water,
misguided youth, pregnant daughter, unfaithful father and hateful son,
mothers do pray while we walk through Babylon;
on teli and in the press, on top shells,
price none the less, in bedroom and at your door..
dawn of a new day seemed to be dark,
after all.

45th- BLANK

there are 2 blank cards
in the angel card deck so
today I'm "depressed"

for this to be the
best country in the whole world
today it looks sad

just happy that I
was a member of the age
of Aquarius

our best hour was
revolution of 60's
created big change

now elephants rule
just capitalistic pigs
love hear themselves squeal

Scapegoat

A time tested honor
to be branded a goner,
just stand in the middle
of their circle of blame.
In this sex-crazed society
still obsessed with propriety,
it is you they'll belittle
to protect their good name.

fracking oil

should I believe you man in the suit?
oh your hair looks mighty fine
combed back, your polished slacks
a slight tan
you are irresistible in your presence
demanding attention.
you have a face that looks right
nothing you say would be out of sight
nothing you do would steer me wrong
oh man in the suit,
you are my god.
you have the power to make us thrive
dig a hole
to the other side
not to china, but to the fuel
oh man in the suit
I cannot trust you
you dug too deep
into a pocket of the earth
looking for more resource
to fill your own pockets
but I don't want pockets
man in the suit
all I want
is for you to tell the truth
your polished smile did us wrong
lies lay upon your clever tongue
and you continue to rule the earth
digging your holes
you find more girth
to your hungry pockets
which you try so hard to fill
when will you learn
that filling pockets kills...

aural decadence
lay cradled midst
hyphenated courtesy;

They said her time had come- Death by insurance

They said her time had come
No place to run
No place to hide
No time for fun
Just an empty vessel inside
Going through the motions
Numb.
Overwhelming emotions
They said her time had come

They said her time had come
Evil coats
She wants to run
She desires to have fun
Not understanding why she can not play
It is now the month of May
Another denial letter
Another denial to get better
They said her time had come

They said her time had come
Why such looks of sorrow?
She doesn’t understand
For there is always tomorrow
Evil coats
She takes a breath
Smelling all of the flowers
No place to hide
Now literally an empty vessel inside
They said her time had come

Her time had come
Her bald head
Just four years old
She looks to comfort from her mom and dad
Why do they look so sad?
Evil coats drag them away
She never got that chance to go out and play
Beep. Beep. Beeep.. Bleeeeep…..
The room floods with long white coats
Now to heaven this little girl floats
Her time had come

They said her time had come
She was just a name
No money, undeserving of fame
Easy for her to be denied
If only the suits had looked her in the eyes
Who is to blame?
Sent to the free clinic
Now dead at four
No insurance
Ooops! What a shame…
She could have been saved
Now two parents at her grave
Once a happy family, now destroyed
Because THEY said her time had come

Christmas 2009

Recession made Christmas harder than ever before
Family’s splitting – money the core
Dad’s leaving to live on the street
So that young hungry mouths are able to eat
That some extra cash might be in the house
and children might learn what Christmas is about?
But without Dad gone, roof would be lost
for the bills are much higher – we can’t meet the cost
No longer can the average family budget
2009, jobs lost, even working struggle to afford it
Commercialism needs to stop building hopes and dreams
Childern don’t understand you are busting at the seams
Disappointment reigns as kids outside taunt and tease
No longer we fit in we’re all on our knees
Sinking. Even love has fallen apart
We don’t want this Christmas just haven’t the heart!
Expectation lower, depressions set in
Politicians not helping the hole we’re all in
Instead raising taxes they’ll crucify more
and this miserable life could be at your door
Will someone tell them that family should be together
sharing love, life, hopes dreams whatever they weather

Loss of innocence

Houses lost, friends go away…
Then others I’ve never known…
Some areas worse, some less…
But all have seen the scar…

Empty homes with vacant eyes…
The bank will own the loan…
Won’t let lose their precious prize…
Until they’ve made a score…

A few will pass thru many hands…
Most will wait with time…
In the end we all lose…
With tears in our eyes…

The only winner any where…
Is the bank that still holds on…
There was really no doubt on this…
As the monster gobbles more…

As still so much is lost by all...

TRESPASSERS SHOULD BE SHOT

TRESPASSERS SHOULD BE SHOT
Your own computer, where they should not go,
'tis your own place, your Heaven or your Hell
All sacred are the words they should not know,
Nor spy upon, some things you'd never tell.

The scum of life know secrets to the lock,
They play among your bits, yes ev'ry byte.
And troubled nights, not sleeping like a rock
You'll laugh it off, as just imagined plight.

But know you well, conspiracies they thrive,
from cyberspace, they bring you false alarm,
Intimidation keeps their cause alive
Their snooping's meant to bring you naught but harm.

If you've uneasy feeling someone's there
Then know you well, they're with us ev'rywhere.

Dead City

Calculations of grief take stock in the supermarket pavement
midnight streets first impression to the concrete placement
black recycled oil stains painting with wires tired and lazy
contained by the curves a labyrinth never ceasing to amaze me
lights like traffic dividing and conquering political geometry
Swamping gutters that clutter to find thicker narrow cholesterol flow
her chambers revolving inconsistent choking the pollution control
grinding and teething on the construction houses like shallow holes
where the ghost engage in masquerades of timeless music searching for a soul
I once was a member of the census proudly standing above the cellars below
now I cringe hidden in the chimneys industrial disaster of the acid bath
Our hearts no longer echo off the gravity now rusted by the aftermath
tomorrow I know how sad ill look back at the present auctioned to the past
I could of done better had I convinced my heart sooner than last
But like lovers who waited too long in the snow I over endulged arrogantly masked
Defeated and broken by the machines of the cold driven under by the murderous frost
In a dead city buried alive haunting progress unforgiven like always and completely lost

The Trader

The quick thumps made
          me realize he is breaking
down, little by
          little –

As opposed to those
          footsteps of his bolding
audience – on a
          rattan chair.

He must have thought
of fortune as plenty as Dinorado* .

However, he is a Chinese;
          he had no ornate of
cats, of Buddha, of dragons
          – he is allergic to them.

But he is a Chinese;
          and Chinese believe in
luck, charms, and
          curses.

*Dinorado is a rice variety.

Budweiser

Last week marked the 3rd anniversary of the sale of the number one selling beer in
America to a foreign corporation. I thought it was a sad situation when it happened
and put my comments down in a poem at the time.

America’s lost a great Icon
We sold Busch, our own “king of Beers”
An American tradition been ended
That lasted for one fifty years
St. Louis is feeling love lost
The senior Busch spins in his grave
But the 52 billion they offered
Caused the Busch family owners to cave
Not sure how this will impact the beer taste
Not sure that we’ll notice the change
But Bud’s now a foreign domestic
A non-sequitur title quite strange

Invisible's Invincibility

I am an invisible man.
Try and see me if you can.

Shy and quiet I remain alone.
Silent is my voice’s tone

No one can feel my pain and sorrow
As I hide inside of my burrow.

Shadows consume my body and soul
As I embrace the misty cold.

The reason for my unseen being
Lies in the fact I hate being seen.

This life and existence’s of my own choice
And I choose not to have a voice.

I am silent. Invisible. Inexistent.
Yet I am invincible, an immortal being

Hard Times Are Here

In this Global ressession it causes many to fall into a deep
pit of depression and fills them with dispair as they wonder
is there anyone to show they care?

They loose faith and hope, for they simply cannot cope with the
worlds financial scope.
Although we live in critical times and are hard to deal with the effects
of the stress caused by these situations are sad and real for these ones
we truly feel.

Will things ever get resolved in this financial crisis well the verdict is pretty much
going to stay like this as the world is in need of a major fix but who is there to
undo and repair all the damage that's taken place all before our very face.

If people looked to a higher source they could take a positive course as there
is a force stronger than humankind and to many people they are just blind to it
which is sad to say, but for those who do we keep on and pray for one day they
might say Yes it is true there is a God in existance and believe he will bring about
the peace and happiness to give us a full release from the wickedness in the
 world that will soon cease.

Someone, Someday

It’s so hard to start
It’s so hard to finish
It feels as if all that you've accomplished will someday be diminished
And it won’t matter if you become somebody some day
Because someone will easily take your place
Steal your ideas
And make a living off you, THEIR way

It’s sad but true
Every mutha f**ka
Will take a piece of your mind
and will somehow ultimately f**k you

not physically but mentally
making you think
you’re not one of a kind
their getting all the fame
while everyone leaves you behind

leaving you to feel like a failure
people telling you to talk to God,
he’ll have the answer

I pray, looking up at the ceiling
Hoping he’ll will give me a reason….
To keep going on with my life and my ideas
But all I’m left with are clones of my feelings
Washed up on canvases with some else’s fake veneers

The Falling

“Please sir wont you help me?”
Said the beggar to the thief.
As he inches along the tightrope,
With no safety net beneath.

Deep breath shakily held,
As he dives the murky deeps.
No soul for the Devil,
No peace of which to speak

Shirt is off his back,
Naked and venerable.
Burying head into the sand,
Always trying not to fall.

A splint to keep him upright,
Some form of support.
Spiralling out of control,
No sign of rational thought.

Helplessness kicks in,
As he steps in misery’s trap.
Over the edge he teeters,
There is no going back.

There seems to be no reason,
As forward he inches on.
Panic starts to surface,
Until logic has gone.

“Please sir wont you help me?”
Says the beggar to the thief.
As his dignity is devoured,
Left with stolen hopes and dreams

Waiting on the corner
Should we warn her
Of the approaching danger
Like a silent still ranger
She has been caught as a snitch
Out comes the evil, mean witch
We may to her have to slice
Into little pieces we love to dice
With a rock to her neck she will sink
After a while she will begin to stink
And no one will ever know
For through time she will never show
This is a terrible place
Which has fallen from all of God’s grace
We hope we may
Live through the day
And hope to always stay
To live another day

Have and the have nots

grabbing at straws the luck of the draw
some live big some live raw
a few like gods on hills of gold
every things fine just do what were told

A man on the corner needs something to eat
money walks by thinks dirty deadbeat
separated so the poor don't offend
at least when your down no need to pretend

late at night at the castle on the hill
a drunken success pops another pill
doesn't talk to his kids doesn't have real friends
his wife loves spending and the hottest new trends

a mother and her children prepare for the meal
what little there is seems so surreal
Everyday she struggles to provide
all she has is love and great strength inside

the driver takes him to the company he owns
he makes money by working others to there bones
always watching for a worker whose down
to remind them hes got the best jobs in town

eight sharp she takes the bus into work
she works for sol ittle just to please some rich jerk
the boss points out maybe its time for some new clothes
hes pays so little cares nothing for what she owes

the girls need braces but theres no way to pay
she smiles real big and says well get em someday
but shes knows she probably wont ever afford
she can barely make rent on her own accord

when he enters his mansion he feels quite alone
a beautiful house but know sign of a home
he decides it be better if workers lost there medical coverage
the company will save and even the overage

two people so very different one thinks hes what most people want to aspire to
the other wonders how long she can hold two sick days she'd be out on the street
the first one is selfish drinks every night avoids his family and lies a lot to
the second is down but will never give up and her children love her she is so sweet

these two people we see everyday I'm willing to bet you may look away
she just doesn't know how to save irresponsible i hear people say
when you see the man in his top notch suit and perfect smile
i hear people say what an outstanding man i like to talk for a while

When i see the man in his thespian role i feel a ting of pity in the heart in the soul
all the money doesn't help him see the person he his the one he could be
when i see the women struggle all day i wonder why we aren't all this way
her strength and courage virtues indeed a path of love is always richer then one of greed

Testicular pain

internet doctor
these are my symptoms
This is everything wrong with me
a list of complaints i have noticed
hoping there is something i can do
to bring back my health
and hopefully pull through

Lists of complaints
everything i can think of wrong with me
from my backpain and insomnia
to the shortness of breath
the throbbing in my right testicle

Stress isn't the proper word
but it does go along with my depression
constantly itchy
loss of interest in everything
nauseas from time to time

Nervous breakdown maybe
five months ago
now spiritually impoverished
feeling like i can't take anymore
however the voice in my head tells me i'm gonna be fine

hyperventalating out of boredome
the constant obsession of trying to make sense
out of the confusion

Internet doctor
i'm sure there must be one
a list of physical ailments
just don't take this on unless your ready to realise
i have everything wrong

Herpes New year
Mental health Industry
dirty blood on the wall of a crime scene
medicated to slow down my OCD thinking
Testicular pain
the depression coming back
guilt feelings and regret for a life of being wrong
hard on myself for everything
driven to drink
and wanting to self medicate
dual diagnosis would be a blessing to me
and i would't be able to function on all the different prescriptions
you try to prescribe me

pills for stress
pills for my blood
pills for my heart
pills for my thoughts
pills for the rash
pills for my moods
and now i have testicular pain living in a town with dirty water
they say its not the water doctor
but before you cut my junk off
can i ask you a question
do you think it was the pills?

I dont see the point anymore
suffering is soo much better
im sure eventually you will sell me suicide
to make yourselves feel better

Worse When Betrayed by Family

It hurt very bad.
When land was taken away.
Betrayal complete.
Land is not worth it.
Land surveyor wonders why,
Reasons were selfish.
Just give least amount.
For granting right of way road
Cannot build house now.
Don't want to live there.
Too close to my family.
The ones who betrayed.
