Happy Mother's Day

This is for all the mothers,
Who grace this poetry site.
They bring beauty to the world,
With love, peace, and delight.

They have served many meals,
With their compassionate hands.
And regardless of the situation,
Clearly and lovingly, understand.

Their warmth is greatly needed,
With unconditional love.
They’re the lullaby of life;
A gift from God above.

With soothing hands of healing,
Comforting life-complications.
Without a loving mother,
There’d be no generations.

They not only birth children,
But beautiful versus and such.
They’re ordinary precious women,
With a caring nurse’s touch.

They’ve kissed many wounds and
Placed band-aids on knees at play.
I lovingly exclaim to you all,
Rejoice, for this is your day.

After Christmas 2014 - In the Moment

The time is after midnight, and I’m in the moment, thinking how another Christmas has come and gone. My spouse and I are tucked in bed, warm and cozy. Outside, white beauty coldly blankets our front lawn. Snickers, our new dog, sleeps peacefully between us. The cat creeps up beside me now. How I love her! How trusting are these creatures God gives us - how pure! Our cat lies down by Snickers. I hear her soothing purr. The visit with our daughter and her family was nice. With gifts, glad hearts and tummies full, we traveled home. More memories to cherish; the old year passes. In the moment - grateful - I finish with this poem. Above The Clouds

Above the clouds, I long to be
Among the other things I see
Where I can stand and shout out loud
Here I stand, above a cloud!

Where whispy trails of jets in flight
In blue skies, patchwork quilts of white
While here below I am, a grain of sand
As people travel from a far off land

Above the clouds on a pitch black night
The moon peeps out to share his light
The stars still seem to find a way
To dance around the cloud's display

I'm amazed at the ability of man
To send satellites soaring, like they can
Above the clouds and far beyond
Like they posses a magic wand

But, most majestic of them all
Is that snowy mountain top so tall
Where I can stand and shout out loud
Here I stand, above a cloud!

Peaches and Cream

She was looking my way, I had nothing to say,
Though I'd dreamed that this day would transpire;
With her beaux all around, why would she look at me
With such interest and playful desire?

She was heading my way, what on earth would I say
To the prettiest girl in the town?
And how could I bear all her sunshiny hair
Or her eyes, speckled golden and brown?

I thought, "This is the one! Mercy, here comes the sun!
If I stare, I shall surely be blind:
Though I be somewhat plain, if she choose to remain
I'd be last in the county to mind."

Then my eyes turned away as she sweetly did say
Pretty phrases I cannot recall;
And I mumbled replies, though they might have been lies,
Since I cannot remember at all.

Of that bright day in May but one thing I can say,
She was dressed in a soft yellow gown;
'Twas a lemony hue that was buttery too,
And with eight shiny pearls buttoned down.

Then I asked if she'd dance at the Cunningham's manse,
At the ball on the fourteenth of June;
She replied, "Oh, how good! Yes, I certainly would;
And I hope I shall talk to you soon."

What a wonderful day! Still with nothing to say
I just whistled an old happy tune;
Having primrosy dreams of sweet peaches and cream
As I counted the hours of June.

The Face of an Angel

So many poemless years,
   Not describing your true beauty.
You’re more than an Angel,
   Here on angelic duty.

Your face echoes truth,
   Of divine radiance on earth.
Your presence warms my soul,
And gives my life its worth.

You’re the one I think about,
With an honest heart so true.
I just want to speak from my within,
And wish a happy birthday to you.

As I bring you a little closer,
   Your angelic dust disappears.
I have always wanted to whisper,
   Happy birthday in your ear.

Today is the day of reckoning,
As my lips whisper this greeting.
And praise a wonderful day,
   While in our secret meeting.

Not a meeting of lustful acts,
But a meeting of a warm embrace.
I have always been mesmerized,
When I look upon your face.

Random Thoughts 61 Mirrored Refrain

Mirrored Refrain
x represents the only lines that do not rhyme in this poem. A & B represent the refrain!

Angelic force,
draping over me, her canopy.
Unmasking the wonder of this youngster,
her spirits alive within me

You helped erect my "secret window"
Ambitiously chasing what I hunger!
Her spirits alive within me,
unmasking the wonder of this youngster!

Our poetry sessions, I sit and reminisce.
Stress free, under this willow tree
Unmasking the wonder of this youngster,
her spirits alive within me!

When depressed and blue you come through,
relax me when feeling vulgar.
Her spirits alive within me,
unmasking the wonder of this youngster!

Every verse meant to impress this poetess,
an essence of the empress I aim to please!
Unmasking the wonder of this youngster,
her spirits alive within me!

Harshest critic yet my biggest fan,
imperfections cast asunder
Her spirits alive within me,
Unmasking the wonder of this youngster

Death cannot take the gift I was given,
Unmasking the wonder of this youngster,
her spirits alive within me.

~Confusion~ The sun kisses my fresh washed cheeks It’s warming on my face The breeze rustles my just brushed hair The mist disappears, its fingers leaving a wet trace. The birds start to sing They are late it’s already past dawn The insects start to buzz On this fresh brand new morn… We are happy to awake A new day to explore New challenges we take As we exit through our door. A chance to do good or bad The choice is up to you To be happy or be sad Or spread a smile or too. The pink fingers of cloud in the east Mean red sky in the morning Will the old saying come true? Is this a shepherds warning? As the sun set in the west Only sunset just last night The red sky was at its best That should mean shepherds delight… Is it shepherds warning or is it shepherds delight? Now I am so confused, is it morning still or night? Is it going to be fine, or are storms on the way? I wish the bloody shepherds would make their minds up today.

Happy Birthday

With all my heart and fairly,
Did I offer sweet surprise-
A birthday present early,
An art drawn near sunrise

All night working perfection,
I had gotten the shading right
With the shadow and reflection-
A suave leopard napping tight

He vowed I’d forget him some day
Though little did he know,
A month before my dear’s birthday,
His gift was ready to go

As time went by and quickly,
Fine colors met dark shades
His affections died so swiftly
And he erased the luster away

For the suave leopard in me slept
As long as his heart did rage
My gift through tears had crept
On the perfection of the page

Happy Birthday to you dear,
My present waits to be sent
I will cease these useless tears
For my love is time well spent

A Nook And A Storybook

A Nook And A Storybook

A busy day, now time to play.
What I would give to find a nook,
that's bright and cozy, quiet too;
just me and a great storybook.

A cozy corner left alone
in comfy chair with window view
of rolling hills and swaying trees;
a book in hand to start anew.

Romantic story with a plot
     to take me to the land of youth;
entwined in web of their young lives,
absorbed with fiction or with truth.

Perhaps a covert thriller type
     too difficult to figure out,
will hold suspense until the end
and me as hostage, without doubt.

Or maybe one's biography
to teach, inspire me, and learn
how someone famous lived a life
for all to read about, discern.

What I would give to find a nook
     relaxing with great thoughts to read;
just me and a great storybook...
a special gift of life indeed.

Lovely Lady Jan

Sweet lady, combination of silliness and laughter, all wrapped up in one sweet sheaf. Amusing limericks, she is definitely a master, so talented, watching in disbelief. Dulcet stories about her special mum, I hold gratitude for her beneficial feedback. So much love held for her darling son, convinced positive energy she'll always attract. ~Written By: Laura Loo~ ~Date Written: February 24, 2016~ Written for a lovely lady...Jan...

Compassionate lovely siren
You didn't keep your silence
Words you utter - timeless
To you my greatest reliance

Your love as huge as a giant
As your heart immensely pliant
Needless more to secure a license
Evermore you're my loyal alliance

More than a systematic science
Greater than a credible titan
Guarding me not to be frightened
Always my ways you enlightened

More than these
More than a diamond,
That's how you are 'MA
My dearest Mama

Happy Husband Hears No Alarm

Waking with a smile, eyes bouncing green, dear husband
makes me hold back my scream, desire to pull over sheets.
Later, I find you sitting like Buddha, gazing at the land,
shifting as each birds lifts and soars and tweet tweets.

I watch you in silence, pick up slippers, my piles of papers
find my own breakfast to leave you undisturbed in dream,
you thank me so many ways, your face relaxed, finger tapers
held on belly, sometimes I wonder if you see past the gleam

Of heavenly contentment, lap of pool, sun blazing warm
the face so bruised by clenched jaw now so smooth
I never dare to battle you, drive you against walls or alarm.
Retirement is a silence of weighty falling before well oiled groove.

Magic Beans

These wonderful magic beans are first roasted and ground
Then brewed and served to many a coffee lovers delight
Lattes, Turkish, Macchiatos and so many, many more
But for me, regular, room for cream, always tastes just right

When the day is gray and its difficult to get out of bed
A good coffee is what you need to start you moven'
I believe its caffeine that really does the wake-up trick
And the warmth and flavor get your body grooven'

This aromatic drink has been around for many centuries
For almost all of us, enriching and enlivening our day
Just ask Starbucks, for they have found the rainbow's end
For these magic beans we are more than willing to pay

Happy Anniversary Sweetie

Twenty one years and counting
I'm blessed to be with you dear
No better place in the world
Than being with you right here

From the first day I met you
My soul was finally set free
I couldn't believe an angel
Was meant as a gift for me

Plans had been set in motion
Orchestrated by God's hand
The shifting of time and space
We heeded our Lord's command

Love would not be possible
Without complicated plan
Our worlds had been far apart
Until I became your man

Moments they became hours
Until they turned into years
I've been gifted with true joy
You have wiped away my tears

Being with you is easy
I look forward to each day
Interesting conversations
I love the way that we play

You are my fountain of youth
An elixir for my soul
I'm thankful to be with you
With you sweetie I am whole

Happy Anniversary my love.
Thanks for the best years of my life.

Not The Same Without You

It's not the same without you;
The days are rainy and the nights are blue.
My heart is crying and God is too,
But we are smiling, waiting here for you.

Choices To Face

I have some choices to face,
But these are not my decisions to make.
God told me what He wants me to do;
He said, "Listen, Son, I have a plan for you."

Five Sisters

To buy a star, I wouldn’t buy just one,
For one all by itself cannot be fun.
I’d buy a group, and five to be precise
because two, three or four would not suffice.

It’s five I want, and five that I would buy,
and if you ask me, I will tell you why.
A special daughter each would represent,
Our mother’s shining dears, all heaven-sent.

Each one so lovely, mother says, So GOOD.
We came to earth to share a childhood!
With eyes so light, and dimples when we smile;
alike and yet distinctive in our style.

Such happy memories and so few bad.
What secrets shared, what revelry we had.
Divided now, we each live far away
from one another; what a happy day. . .

If once again together I might be
with Thea, Jenny, Dori, Melanie. . .
And give them something named for what we are:
“Five Sisters,” for we each deserve a star!

The Heart Of The Ocean

You pick me up and fly me away;
Oh my baby, what a beautiful day!
Like a rock, you are strong to withstand the motion,
And your love runs deep, the heart of the ocean.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day
to each and all.
For the one who picks you up
when you fall.

To the one who's unafraid
to say "Go back and try again!",
for she knows you can do better
and will support you to the end.

To the one who adds her own shade
when life makes you feel blue.
She'll be there to encourage
with statements like, "Just be true to you!"

To the one who brought you into the world
by means of intense pain.
There will always be those who make you feel like less
but she will be your gain.

I thank you Mom for all you do,
and though it is Mother's Day I need no special occasion.
No date upon the calendar will dictate
when I can or cannot show my deepest appreciation.

I hope these words brought a smile
upon your beautiful face.
Here's to you and mothers everywhere -
The woman in your life who cannot be replaced.

The Happy House

(Swap Quatrain)

The happy house perched on the edge
and underneath the young birds fledge.
On a sailing boat with my spouse,
Perched on the edge, the happy house.

The river flows murky and brown,
off the ridge three young men dove down.
The hidden secrets the house knows,
murky and brown the river flows.

A mother wets her naked child,
towards the boat she waved and smiled
The happy house knows all the threats,
her naked child a mother wets.

We sail along, further down-stream,
a woman checks the plates for gleam.
The house keeps watch, on the Mekong,
further down- stream we sail along.

The floating market we now reach,
the size of seafood make you screech.
Vegies, fruits, fresh in the basket,
we now reach the floating market.

The house I watch in silent grief,
enter upset, achieve relief,
the tour guide said over a scotch,
in silent grief the house I watch

The guided tour comes to an end,
though happy houses stuff still send,
to build the Delta, rich manure,
comes to an end the guided tour.

Note: When asked why a room of the house jutted out onto the river, the tour guide informed us, this was the Happy House and then explained you enter upset and uncomfortable and come out happy and relieved.

If you are disgusted like I was, please donate to a Charity Organisation and maybe one day these people will have the decent things we take for granted.

My secrets to happiness

Should you want to know my secret
That which I keep as my own darling pet
That which keeps me happy
I shall tell you about it merrily

Yes, I do care to pamper myself
Mainly though the kitchen where I do enjoy being the chef
Eating healthy
Does keep me light, as light as a leaf

I also care to make sure my cosmetics' supply is full
Else, I would not feel that I do look beautiful
Yes, a perfume is always handy
As would be a lipstick or my shades, so shady!

I do indulge myself in matters pertaining to freedom
See you I do live according to my ideas
I care not to live a life so grim
A life lived according to the rules of ancient grandmas

Yes, I also do love keeping fit
An hour at the gym is worth a good treat
Looking good in my skin
Makes me believe that every little trick of life I shall win

More, my secret is in penning down my lines
Yes, a way to ease my overloaded mind
Brimming it is with imagination
All ready to become works of my own creation

Lastly, my secret to happiness is having been given a view of the open skies
Yes, a mere blessing it is to have been given such a glance
Never shall they be described, not even in any works of astrology
Indeed, I do know that someday, after death, I shall wake up to another ambiance!

Yes, I do bask in indulgence
My indulgence is mine own elegance
Else, see you I would not be so happy
Else, I would not always be so preppy!

Happy Father's Day Mom,
Without you this day would be,
Completely non-existant;
This day just would not be.

Dad is great, don't get me wrong,
I think that he is grand.
He's always there to play some game,
Spend time or lend a hand.

He taught me how to cast a line,
When we go out fishing.
He taught me how to speak my mind,
That there's no gain in wishing.

I don't think I'll e'er repay,
All that he's done for me.
I know for sure in all the world,
There's no one just like he.

I'd like to give him something,
To show there's none like he;
But you already did that,
On the day you gave him me.

Wheels Rollin'

1 o'clock in the morning the alarm is loudly screamin'
I go wake up my brother who probably is still dreamin'
We jump in the car and the wheels start rollin'
Can't wait to pick up the papers and start strollin'

A smile planted on our face! The day is finally starting
The headlights shine bright! The animals are darting
Ah! Windows down breathing all the fresh air
My brother gathering papers with all of his care

Wheels steadily rollin down the road
Nothing is in sight, not even a toad!
Newspapers start soaring through the air!
Do I want this to end? No! I wouldn't dare

Starting to run out of papers as the sun is rising
Listening to the birds chirping is quite energizing!
I look over towards my brother to see if he is still awake
Bless his heart! He has fallen to sleep, he really needed a break!

I throw the last paper and I began to yawn
The paper lands perfectly on that last lawn
Wheels rollin' as we head back to the beginning
Should this much fun be considered sinning?
