Fallen Heroes

From the day I was conceived God had for me a plan - He wanted me to get involved to help
my fellow man - I know some were against it but God knows what is best - Since the day He
took me home I've had perfect rest - Heaven is so beautiful - I'm walking streets of gold and
now I'm serving others including saints of old - I know some still have anger about the way I
died but God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried - He is a God of comfort - His
love will never cease - Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace - As painful as I
know it is please don't hold a grudge - Remember this my loved ones - God alone will judge
Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise - The Lord will reunite us together in
the skies - So don't give up dear friends - my memory is alive - Put your trust in the Lord
and I know you will survive.

In Memory Of All Fallen Soldiers, Police and Firefighters

If I had to paint a picture of me loving God what would I see

If I had to paint a picture of me loving God what would I see?
would I see a portrait of a person who walks in truth and honesty?

In order to paint a picture of me loving God
I would have to access all the experiences that to me life did impart
did I have a good relationship with my mom and my dad?
was it loving and supportive or distant and sad?
did I get along with my siblings? did we look out for each other?
did we play and love each other like true sisters and brothers?
were my needs being meet? did I ever learn to trust and believe?
am I balanced enough to cope according to the lessons in life I've received?

Multi-generational, familial or systemic social receptions
all of this has played a part in my life perceptions
we all have distortions in every aspect of our living
we now must deal with the reality at this time we've been given

was my life exactly as I remember? or are there things that I've repressed?
are there issues that are buried inside me that now make me depressed?
deep-seated anxiety, personal pain and high expectations
feelings of inadequacy, destructive criticism and bouts of frustration
we all have issues that we now need to bring out and discuss
in order to have authentic relationships we need to have real trust
we all have some brokenness that needs to be healed
so that our full love for the Lord God can one day be revealed

God is not distant like a CEO in the corporate tower
God is not pressuring us with His omnipotent power
God does not keep score He just watches over our souls
God is fair and just and doesn't set for us high goals
God is all embracing He nurtures, instructs and forgives
He's kind, patient and loving in this life to us He did give

So if I had to paint a picture of what it looks like for me to love God
it would be a colorful canvas of emotions, perceptions and reflections from my heart

To Believe or Not To Believe: The Power of Unbelief

your belief system is the major indication
of what you can accomplish with positive validation
if you can see it, you can achieve
if you can perceive it, you can believe it

underachievers are always underestimating themselves
non-achievers are always looking for a handout and the most help
average achievers do only what is usually just required
but overachievers strive to realize their heart's desire

in The Bible Mark 6:5-6 are two of the saddest scriptures to me
it tells of the time when Jesus went to His birth place
to spread His Father's ministry
it is somewhat troubling to me when He could find there no relief
because the Nazarenes were in a mind set of utter unbelief
even though He had worked many miracles
in most every town he had ventured to
the citizens of Nazareth were unwilling to give Him His proper due
a showdown in Nazareth, Jesus trying to evangelize God's word
but they saw Him only as the carpenter's son attempting to do the absurd

the power of God can only manifest in an arena of positivity
it can not gown nor gravitate in an atmosphere of negativity
Jesus was rendered powerless, the passion in Him had subsided
because the unbelieving Nazarenes remained unyielding
and completely one-sided

there is a significant amount of unbelief
in many church congregations
where some are just sayers of the Word
and don't believe in the power of the consecration
it takes one drop of negativity
to yield a whole crop of unbelieveability
understand that the Living God can't work in anyone's life
if they are in a state of mind clouded by negativity and strife
there is nothing that can't be accomplished if you know this in your heart
that God can work miracles just believe in His powers from the start
for God can move mountains, He can make a river divide
His powers are omnipotent, just keep a positive attitude in mind

don't undermine God's purpose for you life, allow Him some control
don't underestimate what He can do for you, if you surrender to Him your soul
always look for the victory, don't settle for defeat or loss
use the power of your belief, the power of the blood, the crown and the cross

if you believe God can open doors
what more could you ask for
just believe with God that you can do it
just trust in Him and let Him prove it
just believe in the power that is Jesus Christ
and imagine what you can accomplish
if you just let Him work in your life

THE MATRIARCH

the matriarch is the oldest female head of a family
and I'm so elated that God has preserved this position for me
I've lived a life that has been almost four scores
and I've seen what my people have had to endure
as I stand here today I'm a living testimony
of the goodness the Lord Our God has given to me
now surrounded by several generations of my loving descents
as the matriarch for me this moment is heaven-sent
to my sons, my daughters, my grands, my cousins and all of my kin
I'm so joyful that I'm able to have this reunion with you once again
may the Lord continue to grant us grace and bless each and everyone
and I pray that I'll see you all next year for my living is not done

How Majestic

His words! Life and substance, they vomit both, He knits into one big unit. His perfect craft leaving no deficit and the work of his hands, obvious and explicit. Is it the numerous biological processes in just one digit? Or handling the entire earth in one orbit? What about the accurate blending of different physical forces to fit? And the awesome function of the eye in its obit? How majestic is He! That His foot stool the Earth inhabits and His glory not limited to the pulpit. Showering His blessings and not considering merit. Showing His power which has no limit. Glorious and wondrous is this spirit when His favour hits with no end the favoured debits and enjoying full benefits beyond all forms of profit. Oh! How majestic is this being.

The face of love

Trying prayer, realising

 it doesn't stop right there.

You say a prayer and hope

 that its enough, that your

 words of love have reached

 Heaven above. Just stop and

think how we have asked? Was

it behind a mask of sorrow and

 shame.Thinking we are not good

enough to receive a blessed gain.

We have it all wrong as its what

Jesus has already done. None are

worthy its Gods free gift of grace.

So raise your head, truly open your

eyes. Look up and realise love does

have a face, thank you Jesus

The Journey of a New Dawn

God never fails
He’s the best ever
Every day is a new day
Miracles surround me
I have crossed many hurdles
And my paths are laid straight
I walk, I stride, and I jump
in all, all is born
I thank Him for the oil on my head
For the legacy He’s leaving by my tail
Every day I thank HIM
I will always praise HIM
In Him I dwell and have my Being.

Ode to David

an English Ode

A shepherd-boy composer sang of hope -
pastoral psalms were first heard by his lambs,
his soothing music helped King Saul to cope,
distressing psalms related rival's scams.
Young David, you respected God as Lord
and recognized that giving thanks is praise.
Recalling God's own mighty triumphs past,
you wrote of vict'ry, friendships with accord;
you shaped forgiveness, faith, your Father's ways.
As king, you wrote of blessings deep and vast.

Oft-quoted, sung and prayed by millions wide
Psalm 23, perhaps the best-known psalm.
And "Bless the Lord, my soul," we've gladly cried,
Psalm 1-0-3 are verses penned to calm.
We lift up praise, "majestic is Thy name,"
to God from both Psalm 8 and 21.
"Create in me a clean heart, Thou my God,"
writes David when confronted with true shame;
Psalm 51 recounts how cleansing's done.
King David's psalms, sweet music to applaud.

Taking other's estimation of you, David, as enough justification to write of the biblical King David in your honor. I know you will miss your friendships here. May God bless your future plans as only He can.

BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD AND BE TALL

BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD AND BE TALL, IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE THOSE PRISON WALLS.

IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO TEACH OUR YOUNG MEN HOW TO BE A FATHER AND A MAN,
BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD AND BE TALL, GOD GAVE YOU THE WISDOM AND THE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THAT'S WHY YOU ARE BEING REPRIMANDED,

BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER IT'S TIME TO LEAVE THOSE PRISON WALLS
BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD AND BE TALL.

THE TIME HAS COME FOR YOU TO GET IT TOGETHER, BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL BE LOST FOREVER,

BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD, BE TALL,
IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE THOSE PRISON WALLS.

GIVE GOD THE GLORY, FOR THESE ARE THE LAST DAYS, DON'T BE ASHAMED TO GIVE HIM PRAISE, HE'S GIVING YOU A CHANCE TO REACH OUT TO HIM, DON'T BE AFRAID OR YOU'LL EITHER SINK OR SWIM.

SO MY BROTHERS, IT'S TIME TO LEAVE THOSE PRISON WALLS
BLACK MAN BLACK BROTHER STAND PROUD AND BE TALL

THIS IS DEDICATED TO ALL THE BROTHERS IN PRISONS AND TIME TO COME HOME

Awake, Morpheus

Arise son! The night is nearly here!
Others may work in the light of the sun but you in that of the moon
Get up boy! Listen to your mother!
Your father will return soon;
He has placed the earth in a deep slumber
It is now ready for you
Why do you still stand there?
Hast thou looketh into the eyes of Medusa?
Those messages won’t deliver themselves...
Get up, Morpheus! GET UP!!
Zeus has entrusted you with this great duty;
Don't brush him off like one shoos off a fly!
Your task is perhaps the most important of the gods!
How can the humans believe in our message if they don’t know the message?
You will send messages in the form of dreams
Men will worship you! Oh how they’ll worship you!
Morpheus, "The god of dreams!"
That is what they will call you!
My son: Morpheus THE GOD OF DREAMS!
What a proud mother I'll be!

Love from afar

A glorious yellow sun

 hot enough to burn, to

 Scotch all life out of

 existence. Yet if this

 tremendous ball of gas

 is of further distance into

 the vast. Our beautiful blue

planet would be like a giant

marble, a ball of frozen glass.

 This magnificent feat of exactness

is not by chance, look up take a

 glance. Its perfection, perfect love

 from above.

HAIL TO COURAGEOUS PATRICK

" Hail to courageous Patrick! "
The Christian Irish loudly sang,
taking their chant to all Ireland...
and that made Milchu very sick!

In his veins ran pure blood of Roman nobility;
at that brutal era, Druidism was Ireland's religion,
and he, the follower of Christ, felt much contention...
but armed with determination Patrick fought it fiercely!

" Hail to courageous Patrick!"
As a saint he never accepted defeat;
he was bread and water for the weak...
endless fear for the High Priest!

" Pagans, you shall not worship neither the Sun
nor idols, Christ is your true Lord! "
He preached in all villages ignoring any frown
from that warrior waving his sword!

Would he had never been captured
and sold into slavery, all Ireland wouldn't have known liberty;
his task was to tend sheep as David,
but choose to give his entire soul to God to wipe out idolatry!

" Hail to courageous Patrick! "
Every man, woman and child shouted without being afraid;
they knew that God had sent this holy and kind man to them
to teach prayers of fervent faith!

A Portrait of A Pastor

a portrait is a picture or a likeness of an object, person or place
a rendering, a representation of something in all of its grace
but a portrait of a Pastor is more than just a facade
it's not an image of what man thinks but a reflection of God

people come with their own agendas about what a Pastor should portray
but it's not his clothes nor his cars it's the message from God he conveys
a Pastor should be pictured as a faithful speaker who reveals the truth in his speech
an under shephard of our Lord Christ and it's the Gospel that he'll preach
a Pastor should be drawn as a mentor to his members and circumspect in his behavior
a prayer partner in conjunction with the Holy Spirit and Jesus our Savior
a Pastor should be an image of one who comforts all in their times of need
a teacher of the Gospel who in his flock tries to plant God's righteous seeds
a delineation of an obedient servant leader who stands firmly on God's Holy word
and he should not be the subject of gossip nor the pettiness of this world

a portrait of a Pastor should be a comment on his spiritual calling
an anointed man whom God will use to catch us when we've fallen
a portrait of a Pastor should be an exhibit of compassion, wisdom and respect
a display of leadership, kindness, humility and intellect
it should be a picture of a potter who tries to mold us into godly shape
a silhouette of a counselor who doesn't judge but advises when we make mistakes
a portrait of a Pastor should be a reflection of the image of our Lord Christ
a man who will always allow the Holy Spirit of God guide and rule his life

Earth Missile

O'Lordy, a nuclear missile, yes nuclear.
Bent on control and devastation, control of a nuclear bomb destroying the Earth.
On land when feeling the destruction, fearful, powers of the lord, while seeking
the Lord.
Fearful, frightened, shivering, the day of judgement is only to'so.
How to construe power, fear and destruction.
The power is immense, shivering, a crack in the core.
Fearful, how will I survive?

Belief

Making new friends, turning new

bends. Upon a steep mountain slope

focused on breaking old trends. We are

children of God all saved by the same grace.

We should all do the good Lords work, yet

that's not what gets us through heavens gates.

That my friend is believing in Jesus. Perfect man

and perfect God, our sinless saviour nailed our

 sins to the cross

WHAT WE OWE GOD: An Eternal Debt of Praise

a couple had a good son whom they sent off to grad school
his goal to become a doctor as he was smart and nobody's fool
now on his own he decided to no longer attend Sunday service
he felt that God had no need for his personal worship

some people tend to feel that God doesn't require their praise
the question of a debt of gratitude in their minds has never been raised
but what people fail to realize or even comprehend
is that it was God who gave life to them
Creator of the universe and every living being
Creator of everything we're touching, hearing and seeing
Dr. Albert Einstein once made a very telling remark
that seeing how the human eye works is proof there's a God

when viewing this wonderful world and all the magnificence it beholds
one can clearly see the hand of God that has uniquely unfold
a sunrise, a sunset or a rainbow after a spring shower
a solar eclipse, a child being born are all proof of God's great power
He created man and it was He who gave us the breath of life
He gave us His love and grace and His son as a sacrifice

things have happened in our lives of which we're not even aware
times when God has shielded us from the evil that's out there
He's sent His mighty angels to watch over our backs
He's sent His heavenly warriors to stop any and all attacks
an eternal debt of gratitude and praise to God we owe
but we're not the only beings who are in the know
the angels in heaven praise His holy name
the devil in hell also bows down to Him in shame

created in His image His likeness we now bear
we're His beloved children for whom He tenderly cares
He makes Himself known to us every morning, noon and night
He is our source, our all in all, our strength and our light
an eternal debt of praise from us towards God is due
and as you read this poem I hope you get a clue

God doesn't need anything from us He's complete on His own
It's us who needs God as we can't do it alone
God is great, God is sovereign, He is the King of kings
He's all powerful, He's all mighty and controls everything
there is nothing in this universe that is not under His command
and no matter what we think He holds the whole world in His hands
and today that young man who thought that God didn't need his praise
is now a doctor and disciple of Christ whose hands are forever raised
an eternal debt of praise from us the Lord God is due
because if it wasn't for the Lord God there would be no me nor a you

In this world

Beautiful day, sun full beam upon

my face. A fresh brilliance as I Inhale,

this world is truly indescribable. I

 certainly cannot comprehend the

depths of the deepest oceans to the

highest mountain peaks. I could ponder

till the grave the vastness of the landscapes,

every creature God has made. A world

teeming with life every corner far and wide.

I have let the barrier down. In this world

God's love is beyond our understanding. Its

 unconditional and forever lasting

PROPS FOR OUR PASTOR

props for our Pastor to honor him for his anointing
to give him encouragement in his Godly appointing
to be a bride to the church is a Pastor's primary role
an Undershepard to his flock in the kingdom of saving souls
he's the angel of the church chosen by the Lord God
ordained and equipped to give the Gospel from the depths of his heart

props for our Pastor for whom we should always pray
to gird him up for the battle that he faces everyday
we're in the midst of spiritual warfare where every moment is a fight
so please pray for our Pastor morning, noon and night
pray that God protects him from powers and principalities in high places
pray that God covers him when he encounters those enemies with two faces
and when you pray for our Pastor also pray for yourself
that you will increase and be full of spiritual wealth

praise for our Pastor in his leadership capacity
praise for his sacrificial personality
he gives to his flock his all in all
and for his congregation he will respond to every call
props for our Pastor as he preaches the Holy Word
in a prophetic manner never before heard
speaking words of power and revealing truths to authorities
as he proclaims the Gospel and how it came to be

props for our Pastor as he labors in word and doctrine
in a delivery of the Gospel of which he does not modify nor spin
he gives the full Gospel and testifies from the heart
he cuts down the enemy and deflects its fiery darts
props for our Pastor for his preaching and teaching
convincing and convicting us that the hand of God is all reaching
be one who inspires him for his spiritual calling
be a support to him on this mission into which he has fallen
and watch out for the goats in the midst of the flock
who are always butting in whether you want them to or not
be aware of the instigators, the agitators and the dictators sitting in the pews
lurking around like evil is wont to do

props for our Pastor as we protect and safeguard his back
for by the enemy he's constantly under attack
be one of the faithful few that keep gossip away from him
and use your spiritual gifts to shield, empower and defend
partner with out Pastor and help ease his load
be a compliment to him and his family as we travel this road
and also pay our Pastor so that for his flock he can give his best
tithe to the church and then let God handle the rest
with prayer, praise, partnership, protection and pay
props for our Pastor as we honor him this day

sept 11 and heaven

as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of a day we'll always remember
over three thousand lives taken on the eleventh day of September
but for the grace of God it might have been me
to have been one of those lives taken away in the midst of that tragedy

life is a series of sequences and events that take place
and I know that as a child of Christ I'm living under His grace
at the time I had a job that was located in tower seven
but on that day I was in Brooklyn or I might have died and gone to heaven
safe in the borough of Kings working at the primary election polls
far away from the events that on New York took such a toll
the nation and the world were shook to their foundations
that anyone would dare to strike at the very heart of our nation
two airliners purposely driven into the World Trade Center Twin Towers
an attack on American soil in the early morning hours

and as I sit in church today on our annual Homecoming day
I reflect on the fact that many will never come home again
mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, co-workers, family and friends
and while I sit in this anointed pew
the awesomeness of the glory of God in me has been renewed
a day to remember as we share the communion of our Lord Christ
a day to also remember a day that forever changed our lives

As We Celebrate Our 160th Years

as we come to celebrate our 160th year
we give thanks to our Lord God whom we love and hold so near

the Berean Baptist Church was established by a very special group of men
they were Freed Blacks and Abolitionists who were more than just mere friends

the Spiritual foundation of Berean was to give hope and serve the community
of Carrsville and Weeksville during the time of American slavery

and through the grace of God the Berean Baptist Chruch has continued to sustain
as we celebrate our 160th year by power of Jesus' blood stain

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! to the Berean Baptist Church that "Little Church on the Hill"
and may the Lord God continue to bless you all as you work, worship and witness by His will

FAITH IS STRONGER THAN RELIGION

What religion has created through the ages
is a false gospel with much incredibility;
a helpless Christ on that cross...
instead of a resurrected One
ascending to His glory;
He's still mocked and alone!

Faith is stronger than religion,
it trascends all souls
in search of truth and hope;
and it can't be taught by words alone!
Faith was the stronghold
of prophets and saints!
Let it become our fortress
in the days of weakness,
and fervently pray with confidence
that no harm will come from others!

The sacrificial altar needs no lamb,
the ultimate sacrifice was made...
the reconciliation between Man and God,
and a Mediator to atone every sin committed;
many still believe in a harsh punishment...
by demons who dwell in Hell!

Let's be like David who exalted Jehova God always,
and proclaimed His greatness for all ages!
Let's fear no man, but trust in the God of Moses...
who parts our waters in troubled times,
and lets us walk safely to our shore;
let's be as faithful as they were!

DA GROWING UP PRAYER

MY GOD IN HEAVEN,

SURELY, YOU ARE IN CONTROL. YOU WILL PUT ME WHERE YOU WANT ME TO BE.
YOU WILL GIVE ME WHAT YOU WANT ME TO HAVE, AND YOU WILL GET ME THERE
IN THE WAY THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PLANNED FOR ME TO ARRIVE.

ATHOUGH THIS SEASON OF MY LIFE HURTS, AND I ADMIT MY FRUSTRATION WITH
THIS PROCESS; YOU HAVE MERCY UPON ME. I KNOW THAT YOU WILL
NEVER ALLOW ME TO ENDURE PAIN WITHOUT A PAYOFF; CAUSE WITHOUT
A PLAN, AND THE COST IS NEVER WORTH MORE THAN THE FINISHED PRODUCT.
THIS IS WHAT I’M HOLDING ON TO, LORD. I NEED YOU TO GIVE ME A PRAISE
REPORT. I NEED TO SEE YOU MOVE IN THIS VALLEY I AM IN. PLEASE, FOR YOUR
GLORY. BLESS ME IN A WAY THAT OTHERS WILL SAY, ‘SURELY, GOD IS IN THAT.”
YOU HAVE PROMISED TO MAKE MY ENEMIES MY FOOTSTOOL. YOU SAID THAT
THEY WILL BLESS ME FOR YOUR GLORY!

FROM VISION TO VICTORY. FROM VICTORY TO GLORIOUS TESTIMONY. I WILL
FOLLOW YOU. FOR YOU MY GOD, ARE IN CONTROL. YES, MY GOD IS IN CONTROL.
AND KNOWING THIS BRINGS PEACE TO MY SOUL.

FOR MY GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL.

Into the Sea of Love

as I lay here beside you looking at your sweet and gentle face
I now know that our chance meeting was destiny in its place
and that our love was sanctioned by God's unfailing grace

I wanted you to know that my love for you is overflowing
and my feelings of contentment are forever growing
as my heart beats for you at a rate that shows no sign of slowing

my thoughts of us together are so profound and so deep
and into that Sea of Love I'm so glad that I did leap
for my heart is now in your hands where forever I hope you'll keep

I clearly remember the day we met and the circumstance
and the first time we saw each other we shared a heated glance
my whole world had stopped and I felt like I was in a trance

across a crowded room yet it seemed like we were all alone
our souls made a connection and we were in our own zone
it was later that I even realized I had let out a lustful moan

into the Sea of Love I'm so glad that I did dive
for the love and care you've given me has helped me to survive
for whenever I'm with you I feel more alive

into the Sea of Love swimming side by side
into the Sea of Love on a romantic journey we ride
into the Sea of Love where our shared faith in God abides

as I lay here beside you of my face you caress
I thank God daily for I know that I've been blessed
for the way that you love me even has me impressed

into the Sea of Love as we happily float along
our relationship is like a rock, solid and so strong
into the Sea of Love where in your arms I'll forever belong

To my Mom's real Mom

I never knew you, but I have your blood.
Sometimes I wonder, how I'm like you, if it's more ways than one.
And I think to myself, what life would've been like, if you'd kept my mom.
From what I've heard, you were very young, only a couple years older than I am now.
And you made a mistake, but yet, God used it somehow.
So I owe you so much, and still, nothing at all.
And if you hadn't given away my mom, I may not have been here.
So thank you, for choosing life over death.
But God made sure she didn't get left.

Larry Rice

Larry Rice did something nice
When he made his life a sacrifice
Larry Rice did something right
By turning someone's darkness into light
As I wonder about right and right
I wonder what God did to Larry Rice
And I see visions of the bitterly poor
Those cursing God for being so poor
I see visions of Gods children
being without
without a home, without a coat
without food, without pity
Then I see a vision of God
raising up a man
A man who would turn pity
into repentance
And then turn repentance
into a gift
to and from God
And not just stop at pity
God did something very nice
When God made Larry Rice

Audrey Wright : An Earthly Angel

Seventy years ago in Princeton, West Virginia on a cold December third night
an earthly angel was born unto us and her name was Audrey Wright
a blessed child of God, a devoted disciple of Christ
and we've gathered here this evening to celebrate her life

With her husband Joe she has had over forty years of wedded joy
David, Dominick and Bobby Jr. are their 3 handsome boys
a member of the Historic Berean Baptist Church for a score of years
a deacon, a playwright, a woman of substance whom we all love and hold so dear
a truly talented individual who has a funny and dramatic flair with the pen
she writes the type of plays that makes you renew your faith in God all over again

I consider myself doubly blessed to have her as a sister and friend in Christ
and to everyone she has ever met in someway she has touched their life
she had the nerve to inform me that she was seventy years young
but as I look upon her lovely face, she doesn't look a day over forty-one
excellence, eloquence and elegance are the traits she humbly conveys
and I'm extremely honored to write this tribute for her seventieth birthday

I love you and congratulations to you, my dear friend Audrey Wright
and may the Lord Our God continue to bless you and keep you always in His sight

Pieta's Ode

O that grief in stone alone would tell
That passage from life's cross to hell
For having been born we begin the process
Of our unbecoming, a very subtle knell
Tolled on beads of faith in counter spell
All of death's exacting claim and duress.

But this Christ cast down by the evil it
The thing he did make subduing spirit
To take its flight from flesh, and leave the leather
Gnarled and twisted, so death inhabit
There God in convulsions truths admit
Is more than just change, or state of weather

Walk me through the crowd again, fled
From the picture, hear the hollow dread,
The dismal cry before existential emptiness
The brittle bonds of broken Godhead
The loneliness for sin that stood my stead
It tells upon even stone in lifeless grimace

How clever in work each chisel caught there
Languid form, and pity in the stare-less stare
The naked moment of our point of death foretold
The diligence against the strain of all fear
The sombre moment lurid on the dismal air
God is one with man, so man may grace the fold.

But in this deposition with self imposed I see
More than just a comment on self history
I see the co-opted glory of an alien race
The transposition of a marginal identity
The subjugation of faith to human mastery
Birthed and centered in death's callous place.

Go on you worshipers of idols in griefs of stone
Martyr yourselves for adulation of the throne
Art is memory that only tells in part our intent
The cross' silent purpose by sage sins condone
The longing to remove God and take his zone
Of time and space for preferred devilment.

I before no pieta bow, let the mad man die alone
Man came from the earth and O the worth unknown
To hold his God not as dead thing, but life summed
Through faith and gift of grace, a worthiness of throne
After the marble is cut, look out for the single stone
Toppling kingdoms in its roll as bright Jesus come.

the buzzards are probably circling but with you God's not done

it's another year and you've gotten a little older
and your faith in the Lord God has gotten a little bolder
you might have a little bit more of a middle age spread
you might even have a few more gray hairs on your head
but don't sweat the small stuff Pastor it's going to be okay
for you have made it through to another birthday
the buzzards are probably circling but with you God's not done
just stay in the game of life until the victory has been won

you've preached from many a pulpit for over 30 years
you've always say that God is real and in your heart you hold Him dear
you've given us the word and have moved us in a good way
and that's why we're gathered here in love to celebrate your birthday
yet the buzzards are probably circling but with you God's not done
so here's to you Pastor Griffin on your fifty-first one

you raised two good daughters, one's in college and the other is about to wed
you might feel like you're losing a child but you're gaining a son-in-law instead
you've been married to a beautiful woman of God for more than half your life
and for that accomplishment alone you should give all the glory to the Lord Christ
yet those buzzards are probably circling Pastor but with you God's not done
and may you continue to preach the gospel of God for another fifty-one

A MOTHER'S LOVE

Mary was a woman that the Lord hath made
she was a chosen vessel to give life to His babe
the Babe who was destined to reign over the Christian Nation
the Prince of Peace, the Messiah who would die for our salvation

There is only one thing in this world like a mother's love
it's the agape love that comes from God above
for the love of a mother is a special and precious gift
like receiving the Holy Ghost, your spirit it will lift

A mother's love should be given freely by choice
like the word of God in it you will rejoice
a mother's love should not ever be taken for granted
for there are many in this world who have never had it

a mother's love should be cherished and held so dear
for you will surely miss it when it is no longer here
a mother's love is like a heavenly sanctuary
will shield you from evil and anything that is scary

a mother's love is like a fortress of comfort and protection
unconditional, unbreakable with no objection
a mother's love is like a beacon that burns so bright
will guide you out of the darkness and into God's light

a mother's love the most precious gift from God
a mother's love a gift that comes from the heart

An Ode to the Intact Male

In honor of mothers who keep their sons pure,
And of uncut men, I thee reassure
You are perfect and wholesome just as you are.
Born in God’s image, you’re already a star.
Your foreskin’s a blessing, so think and be wise,
And give thanks to all parents who don’t circumcise.
God made you complete in the womb, yes God did.
God loves you like that and therefore doth bid
That you stay as you are, in your natural state,
So that when, at last, you meet your soul mate,
You’ll unite, both of you, a half and a half,
To make passionate love, a love that will last,
Without a thing lacking, you will be truly whole,
With eternal fulfillment in your heart and soul.
Your God-given potential for heavenly pleasure
To share with your true love is something to treasure.
So take not for granted that flap of loose skin,
So seemingly useless, toilsome, and thin,
Your manhood deserves the wrapping its in,
For to butcher a creation of God is a sin,
And a gift to all humans who preside on this earth,
It is time now to cherish what you’ve had since your birth.

2002-2008

St Judes sent a picture of Bryce
under it two big numbers
counted out a small life
I said to myself
"He lost his fight."
one of the plights
of human life

every month St. Judes
send's a picture
one of the little ones
fighting cancer

every month
i say a prayer
"excuse me God.
are you there?

here's this little one
trying very hard.
cure this childs cancer,
if You can find it in your heart."

now i'm wondering
what i'll say today
looking at the picture
it's usually time to pray

now is time to ask Him
does praying really matter
when i say those words
does someone get better

if God is God
how can anyone get sick?
if He really loves us
He'd take care of it

long ago, God made St Judes
it was one of his answers
He made up for you

so if your still wondering
if God still answers prayers
take a look at St. Judes
and you'll find answers there

HOW WONDERFUL ...

Ever since humans sought the supernatural,
confusion seemed bizarre and hysterical;
within hills and mountains they erected their temples,
sang their praises to appease
their gods, who were thought to be angry at times...
what they were trying to accomplish
was to feel the presence of a spirit which granted their wishes!

How wonderful is the faith of true believers,
and they don't build cathedrals
as far as the unreachable sky;
the God they're searching for..is as close
as the depth of their faithful heart!
How loud are their voices,at sunrise, that ascend
like seagulls...to transform themselves
into a celestial chorus with a crescendo...
that draws them closer to a sky of indigo!

In the streets of this Babylonian craze,
religion is without atonement,
but there's plenty of defiled grace
to be consumed as the exquisitive
food of a privileged banquet...
where a doubter is rediculed by laughs and condemned;
human, human race where does God live?...
And does He approve of your false zest?

How wonderful is the faith of true believers,
clinging to that sublime hope, rising from light,
to reach Heaven without having to go through Hell;
how humble is the aspiration of the true faithful...
not relying on astrology, avoiding all kinds of deceit!
Be watchful and shun pretentiousness...
worship Him truthfully and assert your claim;
nobody but you can decide what's right!

Herman Ruff

having not known
when he meet death
i find myself the last mourner
none the less
i have grief to shoulder
hidden tears
that have become bolder
as history becomes older
a time in my past
and often remembered moments
that made me what i am
my teacher, my master
words he would not understand
but Herman Ruff
was more than just a man
i was just a teenager
when God put me in his hand
with gospel music
he molded my past
i never let go of what he gave me
it still last
i take that talent and use it
where ever i am
that part of him still lives because
I Am
he put something inside of me
that said "I can"
i can make music
more beautiful than before
i can use my voice
to open hidden doors
i can make people
stand to the floor
with tenors harmony
that makes them beg for more
all this came from a man
i now adore
with words of tribute
that say i could have done more
some where up in Heaven
on the grandest of grand pianos
he sings
giving God the Glory
the way he taught me

Vindicate Me Oh Lord

vindicate me oh Lord, plead my case with Thy righteous hands
deliver me Oh God from any unjust and deceitful man
for You are the God from whence I get all of my strength
cast me off not and never let me mourn for any length
shine upon me Thy light so that I may bask in Your truth
lead me, guide me towards Your Tabernacle Booth
as I kneel beforeThy altar, let my joy be exceedingly
for I will play songs of praise on my harp for all the world to see
be not sadden over my soul nor disquiet the spirit within me
for You are my hope and salvation and I give my all to Thee
