Sleepless Night

***
Pillowed feathers,
Caressing a precious moment around my tender skin.
***

Teardrops, bagged eyes, a way of sin
The mirror reveals a lost eternal soul
A conniving move against tonight's phantom glow
Voices circle the insomniac moon
Like magic and beauty, "I AM" gone with the wind

The idea of love,
broken like yesterdays wishbone.
She is leaving
her arms, my shelter
her wings
her teardrops gone forever.
Never will she suffer-
Never will she return-
All I have is one last memory
tracing what is left
one last breath
tequila vice
washing away the pain.....

At Last Now I See!
Under the drunken stars
I had an epiphany
Striking like a match
A sunken treasure
At Last I Knew
you don't belong
you were there for the taking
Weak and sick, no longer sane
Memories lost, no longer -her
My Mother!
What has become of her?

You're a demon, who played us all
made us cry, while you slowly took her away
the way you ravaged her body
nip napped both her legs
fed her through others
the way she rapidly forgot
our names:
our faces:
I hate you Alzheimer
I hate the way you took her the first time!
I hate you Death
I hate the way you took her that final moment!

Sleepless nights and pillowed feathers,
Caressing a precious moment around my tender skin
Pretending my mother tucked them in
Anything to help me get past my sleepless nights.

Hugs

Teenage Girls clad in the latest fashions,
Do it whenever they meet,
Grown men aren't afraid to show some passion,
When their team's comeback is complete,
They can say hello, they can say goodbye,
And anything inbetween,
If you open your arms and crack a smile,
There is nothing that a hug cannot mean.

We Are There With You

You do not stand alone in your Battle
Your battle is our Battle
We may not be there in body
But we are there with you in Spirit

We are there in every beat of your Heart
In every whisper of the wind
In every thought and every touch
Every breath and every sound
We are there with you

You are wrapped in an Endless chain of Love
In every link we each send you a part of us
We send you some of our Strength
Some of our will to Fight
Some of our Courage
The most important of them all
We send you all of our Love

If you feel you need more
Just give that Endless chain a little tug
And we'll be there
Tug til you need us no more
Then we'll know you've gone Home

BABY

written 28th oct 2012

You were never seen by us, that privilege sadly was not for us
an extravagance we were overwhelmed by, the thought of your embrace
The entire twelve weeks you were a joy to have known, even 'without' being seen
hearing about you're arrival, was a blessing at the time you were conceived
For life hadn't been easy and we had all asked God, we even plea'd

We wait upon the day, you will finally meet us
having the honour to love and learn with you, saddly not for us
It brakes my heart as you part, you had already embeded love into my heart
Just knowing we will now...forever be kept apart

God has other plans for your love that's so strong, blessing us from the start
we continually pray, maybe he'll deside to let you stay around
But the intense pain of tears and loss, are constantly falling all around
just let it be known, we all desperately wanted you to become part of us

We all will love you for eternity, you are now forever one of us,
although it was only for a very slight second, it was better than never
You are from this day on, embedded into our hearts forever...
the impact you have left 'unborn young one'' my beloved grandchild....
                                  "Angel" 2012

Final Adieu

Final Adieu

Let another sun set,
Let another flower wilt,
Let another autumn cast its gloom,
Let another tear role,
As ye part, and bid
The final adieu.

Living my dream

Living my dream

I had one dream when I was young
To go to another land
In life I wasn’t satisfied
I wanted something grand
Lions, tigers. Kangaroos
And all those wild, wild beasts
Africa, South America
Or Australia at least.

Possessive Mother was my curse
How could I get away?
Every time I mentioned it
She had so much to say
And made me feel so guilty
Really cramped my style
And then one day there came along
Something to make me smile

I’d just turned my nineteenth year
When this great girl came along
She hailed from West Australia
And filled my heart with song
So we got married, had some kids
And here we are in Oz
Been here for half a century
And I came here all because

It was my fate to find this girl
She was my destiny
There’s be a whisper in the skies
That knows how things will be
It takes one’s soul, and leads it on
So growth, it might occur
And I know that west Australia
My heart, it sure does stir.

The Women

The Women

(for the countless women, names unknown, who bore the brunt of Apartheid, and who fought the racist system at great cost to themselves and their families, and for my mother, Zubeida Moolla)

Pregnant, your husband on the run,
your daughter, a child, a few years old,

they hauled you in, these brutish men,
into the bowels of Apartheid's racist hell.

They wanted information, you gave them nothing,
these savage men, who skin happened to be lighter,

and white was right in South Africa back then,

but, you did not cower, you stood resolute,

you, my mother, faced them down, their power,
their 'racial superiority', their taunts, their threats.

You, my mother, would not, could not break,

You stood firm, you stood tall.

You, like the countless mothers did not break, did not fall.

You told me many things, of the pains, the struggles,

the scraping for scraps, the desolation of separation
from your beloved Tasneem and your beloved Azad,

my elder sister and brother, whom I could not grow
up with, your beloved children separated by time, by place,

by monstrous Apartheid, by brutish men,
whose skin just happened to be lighter.

You told me many things, as I grew older,
of the years in exile, of the winters that grew ever colder.

You were a fighter, for a just cause,
like countless other South African women,

you sacrificed much, you suffered the pangs,
of memories that cut into your bone, your marrow,

you resisted a system, an ideology, brutal and callous and narrow.

Yes, you lived to see freedom arrive, yet you suffered still,
a family torn apart, and struggling to rebuild a life,

all the while, nursing a void, that nothing could ever fill.

I salute you, mother, as I salute the nameless mothers,

the countless sisters, daughters, women of this land,
who fought, sacrificing it all for taking a moral stand.

I salute you, my mother, and though you have passed,
your body interred in your beloved South African soil,

you shall remain, within me, an ever-present reminder,

of the cost of freedom, the struggles, the hunger, the toil.

I salute you!

(for the brave women of South Africa, of all colours,
who fought against racial discrimination and Apartheid)

EMMA

Up in that old attic are an antic Raggedy Ann Doll and a rocking chair well used by my grandmother.
Grand she was and as great as she to be; she instilled value and principality.

Up in that attic is an old Raggedy Ann Doll and an antic rocking chair my great grandmother rock from.
Short in statue but tall in her stance, my great grandmother guidance departed wisdom.

In that attic is all kind of memories of how my great grandmother and I loved each other as family.
Friends bonded and she as a life-long mentor, in that old attic resides expressive art.

In a far corner that was east to the sun stood a portrait of my great grandmother.
Knowledgeable was the face with eyes of hazel brown painted at the age of seventy-five (75).
The reminiscence of youth is a mural seen as I sat down in the rocking chair thinking… (“Mama, let’s read The Bible together.”)

In this old attic is love unknown because of the time I had with my great grandmother before she was beacon home.

mama

mama how do i tell you its bad again
how the voices are telling me its okay to hurt
they want me to fall
to fall from the top of buildings
and not get up
but don't worry mama
i plan to shut them up

mama how do i explain how the pain has returned
all you wanted was me to be better
i tried and tried and tried and tried
but in the end, the crazy won
they drive me crazy to no end
i want to make it stop
but don't worry mama
i have a plan

mama i cant tell you how it feels
to be sunken to the depths of earth
angels are soaring above me
but their happy gazes hurt
i need this incessant chatter to go
to hurt me, to hate me
it all feels so real
but don't worry mama
it wont soon

mama i can see the look in your eyes
it hurts me too that this is goodbye
cant you see this is the only way
for the voices to vanish but my body stay
goodbye and farewell
ill miss you so much
but don't cry mama
ill be better now

Observer

A serpent underneath blue sky,
in shade of man, in twinkle of an eye,
above brick wall, in the structure, at the floor,
venom of white dove; contaminated food, undrinkable water,
misguided youth, pregnant daughter, unfaithful father and hateful son,
mothers do pray while we walk through Babylon;
on teli and in the press, on top shells,
price none the less, in bedroom and at your door..
dawn of a new day seemed to be dark,
after all.

Vesper

Her eyes, though once bright, are cloudy,
Shrunken and fragile the form
That long was brimful of vigor
And a will to outlast life's storms.
She stares past a blank horizon
Through a door that I do not know;
The colors she sees are mem'ries,
Scents and sounds of the long ago.

A kaleidoscope of faces
Turns merry-go-round in her mind;
While trees out her window whisper
Soft lullabies long left behind.
The sound of my cheery greeting
Draws her back to this metal room,
Away from a creaking rocker
And her mama's sweet, gentle croon.

If is not my name she whispers
As I bend down to kiss her cheek,
But a name more dear than ever
Mine was is the name that she speaks.
"Papa," the feeble voice quavers.
I'm no more a part of her world;
The grandma that soothed my sorrows
Is once again Papa's wee girl.

Mom

My heart is saddened, you left to soon…
Please come back to us, he started talking to the moon…
His heart can’t take the pain, he is suffering, he needs you…
He loves you so much & I love you to…

Mom, why did this happen to you…
Why did you have to pass away, everyone else who took you for granted are fools…
We cherished & loved you so much & we still do…
He is an empty soul & all happiness is gone, because you are too…

Too early for your time & age…
Our hearts are trapped in a small cage…
Ready to burst & blow up with grief…
All hope faith & joy gone with our belief…

This world is nothing without your love…
Scattered pieces of your memory remains, all to aside it was shoved…
People are cruel & mean to have taken every single thing that reminded us of you…
If it was us that could decide we would have been able to keep all till even the last shoe…

We are torn; broken & only time can heal they say…
Biggest load of bull*****they said on that day…
Forever your memory & soul will be within our hearts & mind…
Even in the dark, you were the one who always shined…

Mom, we love you…
We hope that you are safe wherever you are…
Even though we still sit with scars…
Just never forget us, not like all the others have forgotten you & moved on…

It’s only been two weeks but your soul will remain…
In our hearts you will always stay…

*Inspired by my mother in law who passed away two weeks ago*

Sweet Children, Sleep

To the Newtown Children

A poet cries with broken heart

Look thine hearts be washen clean with death,
God knows how hastily can be
By an unfitting goodly young man
Become just another evil’s killer.
Take thou no mean of life
That so tenderly and small
Arranged now along that cold room
Where a hundred of parents
Like you and I look on poor children that thou think:
One day they shall be a doctor or a thinker like us.
To understand really why the hungry death
Has to do for their final journey in front of this sickness?

O, children! American children! My children!
I warn thee in all my heart and soul
That could not happen so earlier on life
And where thou cast the peace and saint in the kindness of grace
Take care of them from danger, thou take for a leaf
And makes my heart bleeding every one like us become angry
How in this heavenly nation this massive fate could occur?

Hold me fast in thine embrace God,
Where my despair cannot be silenced,
Let you and me and everyone else to knee and cross
Our fingers against our chest and pray for them,
Give them, Lord, thy blessing give,
Pray for them and mother as well,
And I shall finish this poem with trembled
Fingers and tears cascading over this bloody
Sheet as an awaken wind has just blown it from me.

Beautiful light, beautiful moment
Your grandmother and all it has been
Now or then before a sunrise moment.

One Last Toast

I think that I shall have a drink
and toast to you and all you think
'bout love & hate & art & war &
what this life is really for.

Giving, taking, making, breaking
lonely hearts club band;
reaching, preaching, teaching, leaching
blood sucking beggars with outstretched hands.

I think that I shall have a stink
and tell the world before I blink
that all is well as well can be
So kiss my glass and bow to me.

Just below my drunken stem
Connected to my brain, my friend
You know the one that makes you bumble
and people laugh each time you stumble.

Down upon your royal spot
Licking your wounds with all you've got
Until you get right back up again
With a head that aches & pounds & spins.

And I think that I shall pour another
in honor of my departed mother
and dad as well who passed away
Here's to where they are today.

Be they high up in the sky
Or somewhere quite unfathomed
Beyond our wildest hopes and dreams
And the completely unimagined.

Where now I reek & no longer speak
from too much of this brew
where the ice is melting rapidly
on folks like me and you.

So one last toast before we're ghosts
and life was a sweet chardonnay...
Here's to those who brought us here
And all their love along the way.

I Knew Someone Who Wanted to End It All

I Knew Someone Who Was Ready to “End It All!” I knew of someone who just wanted “to end it.” Giving up on life, and did not want to “defend it.” It was a heart wrenching and difficult situation. He said what he wanted to, with no explanation! I could see his face and the sad look in his eyes! What he was going to do next, was anyone’s surprise. He turned to drugs and encountered addictions. With this brought much disease and afflictions! He gave up on the wonderful family that was given. And turned to a pretty wild and crazy way of livin’! I told him about a God who loves him very deeply. As he listened, he began to grow restless and weary. I reached for his hand and began to pray for God’s power! It was a miracle! The blood of Jesus changed him that hour! The spirit of God brought healing and hope to his body! He was so excited! He rushed out to tell everybody! The “end” that he wanted, seemed to just fade away! For the son of the living God, changed him this day! The glory of God, and the power of Jesus’ resurrection… Changed him! And got him going in a NEW direction! He’s so thankful for the blood of Christ’ atonement! And is a different person now, because of that moment! This same Jesus loves and can do the same for YOU! Through the problems of life… He will see you through! By Jim Pemberton

Oku Sunkun Oku

In the spirit of the loss of a comrade (friend outside PS),
who kicked the bucket on 20th of this month,
coupled with the news about the death of Linda's (Pd) mother,
revealed by SKAT via her blog of 29th of the same month,
I sincerely surrender my pen to mourn the dead.
_______________________________________

WE MOURN OURSELVES

With no knowledge of that day
That God would call your name
Your sojourn with us we cherished
On your departure we did the same

Our heart tore when we lost you
You didn’t go home all alone
For part of us went with you
From the moment God called you home

You left us blissful memories
Your kindness and love remains our guide
There you’re, we can’t see you
But you’re always on our mind

This world you came alone
And this and us you left behind
For the next world we know
Would leave none of us behind

Your chain of friendship was broken
From the day God called you home
The gist, the grins, the cheers… are no more
Left with you are your deeds in that new home

Your rope of kinship was severed
And things seized to seem the same
But when God takes us one by one
Our rope would tie and we’d all have a name

I mourned with we the living and the dead
I believe we live to die
On the ground that death is inevitable.

REST IN PEACE MUM ANN BROWN 18 AUG 2011

MUM ...

WHERE DO I START? I DON'T THINK THERE IS WORDS , TO EXPLAIN HOW I AM

FEELING ABOUT THE LOSS OF YOU... BUT I WILL USE ALL THE STRENGTH YOU HAVE

GIVEN TO ME , SO I CAN GET THESE FINAL WORDS OUT THE GUILT , SADNESS AND

REGRET FROM NOT SEEING YOU LIKE I WANTED TO SO ****ING MUCH ,

THEN THE PAIN OF NOT HAVING A CHANCE TO SAY "GOODBYE" TO THE MOST

BEAUTIFUL MOTHER COULD WANT, AND YES MUM I'M TALKING ABOUT YOUTO HOLD

YOUR HAND, TO SEE YOU SMILE , TO HEAR YOUR VOICE, WOULD MAKE MY LIFE MORE

WORTHWHILE. YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO LIVE, BUT YOU NEVER TAUGHT ME HOW TO

LIVE WITHOUT YOU I MISS YOU SO SO MUCH MUM, BUT THE LOVE IN MY HEART FOR YOU , WILL MAKE SURE

YOUR LIFE , LOVE , WARMTH AND TOUCH , WILL LIVE ON FOREVER ,

IN ME I KNOW THAT YOU CHANGED ME , JUST FROM YOUR

PRESENCE...THATS'S HOW STRONG YOU WERE MUM I KNOW YOU HAVEN'T LEFT ME ,

FOR THE LOVE IN MY HEART REMAINS , YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO SUFFER AND YOUR

BODY WILL FEEL NO PAIN...... GOD TOOK YOUR HAND , AND MADE US PART , HE CLOSED

YOUR EYES , AND BROKE MY HEART ....FOR ALL THE TIMES WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER,

I WILL NEVER FORGET YOUR FACE.

THERE IS NO MOTHER ANYWHERE LIKE YOU,

NO ONE COULD TAKE YOUR PLACE.

IF ONLY I HAD KNOWN YOU WERE LEAVING,

I GUESS I EXPECTED YOU TO FOREVER LAST,

ALL OF THE DREAMS OF US IN THE FUTURE,

ARE NOW BUT MEMORIES OF THE PAST.

GOD TAPPED YOU ON THE SHOULDER,

HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW,

THAT YOU WERE GOING WITH HIM,

TO THE SKY SO BEAUTIFUL BLUE.

ALTHOUGH I MAY NEVER SEE YOU MUM,

ARJAY WILL BE BY YOUR SIDE,

HE'S GONNA HOLD YOUR HAND,

AND LEAD THE WAY,

FOR HE WILL BE YOUR GUIDE.....

I LOVE YOU MY MOTHER.....
DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU UNDERSTAND,
DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU KNOW,
DON'T TELL ME THAT I WILL SURVIVE,
HOW I WILL SURELY GROW.
DON'T TELL ME THIS IS JUST A TEST,
THAT I AM TRULY BLESSED,
THAT I AM CHOSEN FOR THIS TASK,
APART FROM ALL THE REST.
DON'T COME AT ME WITH ANSWERS THAT CAN ONLY COME FROM ME,
DON'T TELL ME HOW MY GRIEF WILL PASS,
THAT I WILL SOON BE FREE.
DON'T STAND IN PIOUS JUDGMENT OF THE BONDS I MUST UNTIE,
DON'T TELL ME HOW TO SUFFER,
DON'T TELL ME HOW TO CRY.
MY LIFE IS FILLED WITH SELFISHNESS,
MY PAIN IS ALL I SEE,
BUT I NEED YOU,
I NEED YOU YOUR LOVE UNCONDITONALLY.
ACCEPCT ME IN MY UPS AND DOWNS,
I NEED SOMEONE TO SHARE,
JUST TO HOLD MY HAND AND LET ME CRY,
AND SAY, MY FRIEND I REALLY DO CARE
Mom you mean the world to me
It’s hard to live without you ,You were always by my side
Through thick and thin you helped me

Elvis

Elvis.

Oh Elvis you were handsome, big and grand
At times folk found you hard to understand.
And life for you so quickly it did move
My friend it seems you had so much to prove.
You gave the world the power of your song
And your bonding with your mother was so strong.

Religion it was strong within your Psyche
To sing those spirituals you really liked.
Your mind at times was battered and so bruised
And times you seemed all mixed up and confused.
An enigma, you so different in your ways
You really brought some colour to our days.

You sang your songs, you made it to the top
In spite of this your troubles did not stop
As that greedy man he pushed you all the way
And kept you down and always had last say
Yes you were such an asset to this man
As you sang and made him rich it worked to plan.

When fame and fortune took you by the hand
It seemed you had the world at your command.
And then you lost the women in your life
Your mother and your daughter and your wife
Oh Lord it left you cold and oh so sad
And though you had so much your life turned bad.

And so you killed yourself with your bad ways
Cause joy was never there to fill your days.
I hope you’ve found some peace now where you are
Even though you be no more a star.
Elvis how your name just lingers on
As still the world gets lost within your songs

For Anene Booysen 1996 - 2013

Hamba Kahle Anene Booysen! (1996 – 2013)

Dead at 17, brutally raped and left to die,
in the dirt,

at a construction site in Bredasdorp.

‘horrific’, ‘repulsed’,
‘brutally raped’, ‘shocked’,

do these words mean anything,
to anyone,

anymore.

Not to Anene Booysen,

murdered at 17, brutally raped and left to die,

in the dirt,

at a construction site in Bredasdorp.

Anene was raped,
savagely mutilated,

Her 17 year old body tossed aside,

by the hands of men.

Men, always men,

cowardly, beastly, perverted, twisted men.

‘Beastly’, ‘perverted’, ‘twisted’,

do these words mean anything,
to anyone,

anymore.

Not to Anene Booysen,

who now lies cold and dead.

How many Anene Booysens will it take,

for us,
society,
families,
people,

human-beings,

and,

men, especially men,

to excise the ghastly menace,

of the heinous capacity that resides,

within men,

always men,

to brutalise, rape, mutilate, and murder.

‘Brutalise’, ‘murder’, ‘rape’,

do these words mean anything,
to anyone,

anymore.

Not to Anene Booysen,

murdered at 17, brutally raped and left,

to die,

in the dirt,

at a construction site,

in Bredasdorp.

Leaving Mum behind

Leaving Mum behind

The hardest thing I’ve ever done
Was to leave my mother dear
To come to this land of endless sun
Oh, she did shed some tears
That I had hurt the lady was so clear

I had to come to Australia
I’d married a girl from here
And though for mum much hurt did stir
As she broke down in tears
That I must leave this lady, it was clear.

They Left so Abruptly

They Left so Abruptly

(for the countless South Africans, of all colours, who dedicated their lives for freedom and democracy)

the valiant ones
countless
many known
many more nameless

the truest sons and singers
husbands and poets
lovers and wives
daughters and farmers
workers and sisters
brothers and friends

they left so abruptly
with quiet pride
steely courage
gentle dignity

they left so abruptly
leaving us our tomorrows
brighter
hopeful
filled with promise

they left so abruptly
so that we may breathe
the breath of liberty
the air of freedom
the warmth of justice

they left so abruptly
leaving with us their parting gift

freedom
inkululeko
swatantrata
liberte
azadi
vhudilangi
libertad

they left so abruptly
yet we remember them all
today
in the days that slipped away
and in the many more that we await

they left so abruptly
yet they remain
hewed into our memories
etched in our consciences
engraved in our hearts
they left so abruptly
and yet they endure
with us
within us
now and forever more

Noise, A Shadow Poem

Slowly... Slowly Mother...
Come peacefully to me... Cries...
Please stop mother... Don't make me Mother...
I don't want to hurt you... My eyes, racing...
No more racing mother... Don't do this to me...
Ill die... No more... No more... Please...
I'm hurting... Shes not here... No one is...
I'm alone... Please... No more pain...
Don't be so hollow... Shes gone... No more mother...
This is the nullification of existence... Crying again...
Please stop! Your killing me... Smothered... Sweat...
Its dark... No room... Yes... Four walls... God...
Sounds... From where? No where... Slashes...
Screams... My god why?! Someone is coming...
It yells at me... STOP... 1... 2... no 3... Cutt...
See my blood? Still dark... Slowly creaking...
Pain... Love... Torture... Mummification...
Terrible... Tear me... Rip me... Kill me...
Feel me... Touch me... Leave me... Here...
Alone... One more? I'm going to snap...
Thunder rains... No one here mother...
No one left for me... Not even fear...
Sorry mother... No father here to help...
Just us... Four walls... And me... One more...
Rape... No escape... Leave me here... No...
Leave me not...
Sorry mother...
I've failed...

But A Whisper Pt 1

But a Whisper From the Childs perspective
                                                              Part 1 of 2

In my minds’ eye this life that I see is my very own upon your knee.
While I was in heaven in the heart of God waiting to be born,
I was full of excitement anticipating I wanted a Mother to adore.

I wanted a Mother to hold me tight, safe within her arms.
Raise me good give me love and keep me safe from harm.

I wanted a mother, who’ll bounce me on her knee,
And give me sweet candy and kisses.
And when I’m away, on her mind I’ll stay, for it’s me she always misses.

A Mother to shape and mold me to be all I can be.
So when I’m older and out in the world I can make her proud of me.

A Mother to teach me of kool-aid and Jesus, baseball and football too.
A Mother that I can look at and say, I wanna be just like you.

I’ve had lots of time to think about what I want to be.
But I have the strangest feeling the worlds not ready for me.

So I must go back to the heart of God and stay for a little while,
But that’s ok for I have seen my dear sweet Mommas smile.

In my minds I you kissed me but a moment, A lifetime in a flash.
Although I knew you but a whisper, forever your memory will last.

Are We Being Driven to God's Elimination

Are We Being Driven to God’s Elimination? In the names of diversity and anti-discrimination. It’s like we’re being driven to God’s elimination! God is being “forced” from many institutions! All in the name of this country’s constitution! We’re told that God and this country must be “separated.” Anything less is what many would call; “discriminated.” Any forms of Godly virtues or values are “torn down.” Any symbol of a cross, is often “removed from the town.” It’s no wonder that this country’s in such a big mess! And yet this country wants to be strong and blessed? “What shall the righteous do if the foundations are destroyed?” Meanwhile, the tide of ungodliness, is often “enjoyed.” Those who are trying to remove God! You must beware! His judgment is soon coming! And will catch you unaware! There’s will come a day! When God’s wrath you will endure! The wages of sin is death! This is very true and sure! People may think that removing God is the “thing to do.” Anyone who attempts to do will wind up as “a fool.” Only God can fill the void in life and true love within! Only he has the power to free your soul from sin! The words; “in God we trust,” in our lives must be applied! Everything we’ll ever need… God has supplied! God is this country’s hope! It’s only true foundation! We need HIM right now! To come and heal our nation! By Jim Pemberton

Robinsong

I see you in the flash of red on a robin,
In the orange of a blackbird’s beak,
A brilliant brightness in the dark
Guiding me to what I seek. What that is, I am not quite sure,
But I feel I ought to see this through
First by daring myself to at last let go,
Then by putting all of my trust in you.

Mom's Reward

A year and a half ago, Mom went to be with the Lord.
She entered the Pearly Gates. Heaven is her reward.
She was born in 1948 and died sixty-four and a half years later.
She went to the Great Beyond and she's experiencing a life that's far greater.
In my case, it's not true that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Mom suffered tremendously before she died but she's suffering no longer.
It hurt me deeply when she died and was laid to rest.
Now she has a life of eternal peace and happiness.

[Dedicated to Agnes Johnson (1948-2013) who passed away on March 6, 2013.]

Persephone; Empress of The Fall

Persephone; Empress of The Fall

They are living balustrades reaching out to incognito riddles
Hidden in the maze by branches arching with caresses
Where promiscuous light is falling gentle fingers to their pools
Tiny cloisters of remembering summers thriving as it passes

Pathways lead on arching in vaulted corridors
With the fluttering of their bright children
Commend their sleepy coloured carpet to the forest floors
Blessings for the Empress attending farewell songs for her season

Her crown a catch of sun fall flows about embrocated head
Rusty red She glides bathed feet dancing on a fluid mist
With a lullaby of soothing drowsy to send tired roots to their quiet bed
The blue bell flash of eyes shine promises somnolent buds their cousins will not be missed

Through the colonnades and halls pervades a sentient peace
As age-ed as the stone ring set within the frosted glitter grass
As creatures tuck their tails in the curls of winters invocation of sleep
This years tale of folklore is written by snowflakes as they pass

Persephone is wandering and in all her aspect changing
The enchanted incantations of palingenesis whispering kindly to the soil
Her memories of the verdant centuries in viridian awakening
And from her downy mossy pillow emerges with the blue bell

The farewell song is over it has gathered all to her protection
And the promise she lays at the ancient foundation of the forest feet
Her offering to their sunlight children who fed life’s diligent exultation
A salute to all the majesty of a single fallen leaf

( The falling leaf Persephone
Her heaven in the canopy returns to the underworld
Save in the Fall she is for a moment; free
When all her beauty in multitudinous glory is beheld )
