Sin Hypoxia

To escape sin, I built a glass box around me.
Though sin like water started leaking through the cracks upon me.
Soon the water would consume me.
Forced hand prints scattered inside the glass by me.
Trying to break free of what I built around me.
No one is near to see or help me.
No one to call, to assist or guide me.
Tears accreting to the water wasn't helping me.
The water is slowly getting deeper around me.
The strength is fading away within me.
Please, someone save me!
Oh God, please forgive me!
Thinking I had all the answers to build this glass box around me.
Sin, yet and still captured me.
I need you now Lord please strengthen me.
Eyes closed beneath the water crying out for him to save me.
His voice appears, "Come as you are to me.
You made a decision to consult with yourself without me.
For I am the only way the truth and the light; not you but me.
All the tools you need are provided by me.
I will bring down this glass box only for your life to be with me.
For I make no mistakes because I am me.
I will send you back to be a living witness for me and only me."

Goodbye, My Child

Where cradled canyons sing
Of ebony wood in the forest
There lies a gurgling spring
Where cockcrows sing their chorus
To the melody of singsong birds
There I’ve concealed my sensuous words
Filled with befitted signs
The saccharine whiff of my designs

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Where the fogs of night are fountains
Spills of glistened moon ignite
By distant silhouette mountains
We dance with passion of fight
Entwining ancient stance
Mingling hand in hand we dance
Till the mountains smile on high
Near and far we spring
To pursue the realest of dreams
While the world cries at its seams
Anxious in trouble to cling

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

To where the ridges merry make
From the beaks of wooden bright
In sparkly pools the ghouls awake
That scarce to stir our night
We watch for seekers down under
Muttering secrets in their soul
We bid them lucks of shivers
Dipping gently in
From reeds that hide a tear of a foal
Under the gentle rivers

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Far away she shall ever churn
The taciturn eyed
She’ll listen no more to turn
To the working mills beside
Or the scrubbing of the barn
May peace weave in her song
She shall wave in the yarn
To a haven known as Belong

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

For she comes, the mortal youth
To the wild realm of her truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only her tears be found

Lake, Water and Sun

Lake, Water and Sun

Blue lake stirs the youthful mind,
water shines then invites us on in.
Sunshine covers this rare new find
as delight gives each a big grin-
the youthful mind, invites us on in.

Work done, we have no more chores
sweet time for living life instead.
Sun beams hot upon these shores-
cool waters splashes upon each head-
upon these shores, living life instead

Is this a Nirvana with a bad twist,
rhapsody set to fine angelic tunes;
love leaping through a watery mist?
Will love burn out into the dunes-
with a bad twist...out into the dunes.

Today Is a Gift To Us All

The thing about today is that:
It will be different than any other day
Many different factors will share in the reasons
That today will be completely original
The people we encounter can play a huge role
In the way that our day plays out
We have no control over how these people may act
No control over what they may say or do
We can however control the way we allow it to affect us
I have met and been friends with
About every type of person that there is
From healers to killers I have met them all
Shared meals and how we feel;the pressure of it all
I used to allow outside influences
                                                 Like these people
To play a role in how my day would go
Then one day I realized that if you remove the water from the falls
All that you have left is a cliff
And of course a hole at the bottom
All the breathtaking beauty of the waterfall is gone
All because some fool decided to build a dam to divert the water
The River had no choice in how its day would go
It had no choice in allowing an outside force
                                                        To change its course
Of where it would end today
We have a choice, no matter what anyone does
We can stay on course and maintain the original beauty of our day
As long as we always remember
That this day belongs to us
The only thing that can change that is God, for it is his gift to us all

Rushing Waters Stir The Soul

Rushing Waters Stir The Soul

The water rushed by with a glow
its journey's end few may know
Just a long creek flowing west
deep into wetlands I knew best

Sunny morns I visit to renew
stir heart, wipe away the blue
Sounds so pleasing to my ears
comforting sights easing fears

Fish flopping all about in play
soul stirring sight this day
Kingfisher diving for a feast
Sun rising swifting in the East

Trees wrapping its gentle banks
my heart and soul giving thanks
Another dream I hold in my mind
of Nature and this scenic find!

The Footpath

The Footpath

The footpath to eternity

Crosses our sea of time

Beyond

Horizon of mortality,

Where in Heaven sublime,

Souls bond.

Memento of Waters

From the depths I cry with passion,
Springs of water gush forth
Unleashed;
I run over stones sans caution
Trails subtly across earth
A feast!

An Act Of Birth, Is An Act OF Dying

Blackness moving slowly into light!

becoming one existance

The stars gather like flocks of birds.

See the colors mix and mingle

Creating the perfect shades of colors, the

most beautiful blue and yellow.

Funny how words could form such a savage thing.

                                                            2

These islands come apart

Gods fingers pulling them into various directions

By his very words they are released.

Morning and nights wed, but they are never

essembled as one.

                                                             3

Out of some experiment called love?

To see us form into flesh and blood

And obeying of water slowly, a piece of dirt

appeared.

Spreading as far as the eyes can see

Its water circled the new dirt, and calm and

sometimes sea's prevail!

Birth of nations!

                                                                4

The beautiful green, red, yellow, orange and

other shades of our humanity, vibrant fields I seek

and found before the eyes of the almighty.

New species arise, what perfection...

                                                                   5

The heavens speak of many moods, and speaks

to us to know the time, are signs and marks of seasons.

Our days and years combined to reason. Two emotions.

One to sleep and the other to wake, His return on earth cometh

as lightening

And will cease the same by partened clouds and running

horseman, out of the clouds into earth.

And then the ocean filled with the wild and tamed

A whisper into their hearts and souls to multiply

and above the sea which holds the sky, movements of

graceful wings sour the clouds freely, and glide beneath

a wise space

Below a newly born star.....

                                             6

Atlas! the earth has formed to paint these?

and soon our hands which once held silence

and our hearts held peace! this is good

The earth is spinning, the oceans flowing, our blood passing

the woman exist, our beast wondering, the friut so bright!

This is good! Out of the garden. The murder of innosence

Into our ever lasting taste for flesh, obsession and power

Our need for greed and death! The birth of sin!

                                                        7

Atlas! the setting and rising, our beating hearts

and pulse which slows its rythem by the generations

Generations fade.. nearly rythemless life beats as the dying rose

Entering winter.

Rest.

A Poet Never Faultiers

I drank my words from the cup of evil lately not holy water
Like many I sit in my dungeon of doom on earth trying not to my addictions faultier
I'm sitting knee deep in the shitted down reservation sewer street water
Im looking for wisdom daily with sinners with calls that I shouldn't be trying to call her
I know I be looking for a life filled with silver and gold when I know Im living in copper
I know I got a crazy coming my way so I best get on trying to stop her
I remember the first time I was in love with lust when I first saw her
I know without the water in my life I would scream silent as I would quietly holler
I know I been like a bunny moving around in life that sometimes people call me a hopper
I know I been kicking it in the field so much that people tell me I should start playing soccer
I should be more of an actor of actions and less more of a talkitive talker
I know I got what I got so I will be a poet that will never ever faulteir

Modern Life

Modern Life
We are open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week
Except Monday mornings and Sunday nights.
What are they on about, at this place that I seek
That is supposed open 24/7 days a week.

The pub is open we have an unlimited license,
Let’s have a drink before we go to bed!
I’m sorry we are closed the doors shut at eleven
That’s what the snooty landlord then said.

The helpline is here no matter when
Give us a call and we can help you then.
Ring, ring, ring, ring, the phone rings on
A tape recording says, “Sorry everyone has gone.”

My car has broken down the man came to fix it
“It doesn’t work” he said sratching his head.
“There a computer on board and I will need to record
All the things that are broken down” he said.

But I need my car; I looked at him hard,
And he gave me a wizened up frown.
He plugged himself in, then said with a grin.
The computer says it’s fine, the engine is strong.

But the car doesn’t work you toothless little jerk,
The computer plugged in must be wrong.
“How can it be wrong it says the engine is strong?” he gave me a shifty look
“To be honest missus if it ain’t on the pute, perhaps the answers in a book."

He could find nothing wrong, the onboard computer gave a bong,
But it still said all was okay.
The tow-truck they called out with its ramp and its chains
Now they have taken my poor car away.

Modern life is so frustrating; we have everything at our fingertips
There is 24/7 that does not mean that, and fury does exit my lips.
If its 24/7 and help lines constantly, a car that is run by computer.
Why doesn’t anything work, I feel like the jerk, can somebody lend me a shooter.

I want to blast and to break all technology of late
It’s driving me to drink and distraction
The open all hours pubs are now closed,
And my car is still out of action.

The bank is closed, the computers just died,
The telephones gone on the blink
The TV HD, it is fuzzy like me;
I think I’m going to put my head in the sink.

The oven would be better, but its electric not gas
So I don’t think it would work as well
I want to end it all, not practice for the day,
The Grim-Reaper points at me, and sends me to hell.

Therefore, I’ll fill up the sink and put my head in the drink,
Oh, blast, who is that at the door?
It’s the water board here, we are just making it clear, your water is off for a week.
Typical, I have no car and it is too far
To walk out and jump in the creek.

A Breakaway

A Breakaway

For mankind has the power to think big
History puts them in the pedestal of their career
Aimless drifting until fatally engaged into drilling rig
Raised a surface at the heart of the sea to exploit oil on its frontier

Oil wells at the deepest sea-bed formed million years ago
Also a marine habitat that proliferate at the cold bottom
Rendezvous for waterfowl and aquatic mammals arrived apropos
To add spectacle to the blue water, as accustomed

The fresh water flowing in a cascade of sparks
The sea free access to an ocean while some in landlocked
Life on Earth comes in the seas and we proceed to embark
As ocean currents supply the heat energy round the clock

Many ritually unclean substances are passing into oceans
Adulterating the purity of water in its freshness
Oil spills from off-shore and tanker spread discoloration
Suffocating marine life and ingesting illness

Chronicling ecological cycle literally affect food chain
Stripping resistant from their organic structure and suffer
From the toxins of oil spill prevents water replenishment
Coating aquatic surface with stain holding tougher

A closer look are dying birds and aquatic mammals
Leaving a baleful mark on the waterways
Cleaning up the breakdown oil is costly and fatal
That I may see no more escalating sense of bad omen into the ocean’s forays

Old Pet

I remember a riding pony I had as a lad which was born blind. A filly she was born during an
Arkansas blizzard and we did not know that she was blind at first for we kept our horses in our
barn for several days because of the winter storm. We all had fallen in love with her by the time
we learned she was blind and could not bear to put her down. I remember training her to ride
after she was mature enough and I named her “Pet” for she was my riding pony.

We spent many happy days together riding inside the green pastures.
I remember she never refused to let me ride her even the first time. And she learned very
quickly to respond to my voice and she trusted in every command that I gave her.
I would say, “easy Pet” when we would come to rough terrain or an eroded ditch in the
pasture. She would slow to a careful walk, in response to my voice.

I would ride her down into the lower part of the pasture to the creek in hottest part of the day.
Pet could of course smell the water and when she would come near the bank of the creek I
would again say, “easy Pet” and she would respond by slowing to a snail’s pace down the steep
bank.

Pet would wade out about belly depth into the water where she would drink her fill of the cool
clear water. And I would use her back as a diving board launch and swim to my heart’s delight.
After she was through drinking I would climb on her back again and give her head to her and
she would trot to the barn where she knew I would give her treats, such as carrots, apples,
sugar cubes and so on.

I remember I never did have the heart to make her run full speed as
I supposed that her blindness was burden enough in her life for her to bear.
It is said of truth that one gets to keep in heaven those things of this life that were loved sufficiently.
I know that my beloved Pet shall be my precious playmate again in the heavenly ethereal of the Spirit.

Pet lives on even now in the depths of my childhood memories. Her loving low neighs as she
approached me by smell, and her nuzzles into my pocket for the sugar cubes she knew would
always be there for her. In heaven I shall see my Pet again, and this time she will see me,
maybe for the first time.

For and in honor of Carol Brown
and Contest.

Perfect Water Lair

The air is wet, the sky is very grey A buoy works its shift down near the shore Light is quite scarce in these clouds by the bay Might be a little rain, clouds to implore The waves are more brisk down on the surface There might be a flash of lightning no more There’s nothing between the water and grace A constant wind exists out in the air There’s a tender, calm feeling in this place Never will one find terror or despair On this ocean a perfect water lair

Daytime's Demeanor

Free verse to Rhyme Royal

Daytime’s Demeanor

This morning the water is,
glass still, an indigo mirror.
Shyly it reflects each hill, each lofty palm,
a soft collage of orange clouds.

Time now, to summon thoughts, delineate them,
confess faults, spill forth, a profusion
of memories, immersed in reverie.

Slowly, as clouds disperse, the day begins to pulse.
As ripples, eventually distort the river
I stir, myself.

Time now, for me to assume, day-time’s demeanor.
Like any cloud or tree, be buffered
by whatever comes along.

 Suzanne Delaney

Daytime’s Demeanor

This morning the river is glassy-still.
Its surface a collage of orange clouds,
of lofty palms, and every nearby hill.
And I, immersed in reverie away from crowds
Summon thoughts, confessing faults, to spill
a profusion of reflected memories
Mirrored to de-lineate in reverie.

As day begins to pulse and clouds disperse
Ripples from unruly winds distort the river
I stir myself, day’s journey to traverse
Preparing for what day's events are likely to deliver
Like any cloud or tree that Nature buffers
No longer to remain a simple dreamer
Time now to wrap myself in Daytime’s Demeanor.

Groundswell Girl - Named by JB

Enter a storybook tale
Where I can be
The heroine you hail
Lucid dreams of soft reflection
A touch heated with lust and desired protection
A breathe a gasp as we succeed
Join the fairytale with me
Valiant night within dark eyes
the right movement and I make them shine
like moonlight on the steamy hot spring
care to follow for a little dip with me
Trailing like the water at my fingertips
Grasp me around my hips
As close as the breeze on my skin
Whisper lies as I let you in
Lips mumbling up my thighs
bare heart exposed to the sky
fire burning in my veins
Am I a mistress of this lust or simply a slave
Trembling with desire
Take me till we've lost count of the hours
enter this storybook tale
Where I can be the heroine you hail

A Beach Without Water

A beach without any water is a desert
Nachos without any cheese is a chip
A ski slope without any snow is a hillside
Me without you is no relationship

A zebra without any stripes is a donkey
A fountain without spray is a statue
Valentines Day without a lover is a bummer
And that’s exactly how I feel without you

Please be the water for my desert
Please be the cheese upon my chip
Please be the snow on my hillside
Please be in my relationship

Please be the stripes on my donkey
Please be the spray for my statue
Please be my lover every single day
Please never let me be without you

(NOTE: This poem was inspired by my 6 year old son. We are going to the beach this week-
end and he asked me, “Will there be water near the beach?” That gave birth to the first line
of this poem, which started my thoughts in motion.)

The River

Sometimes The River is long
at places mighty deep
The currents not always steady,
into the ground, water will seep

Along the way the water rushes,
there's a need to hold it back
A dams not always foolproof,
sometimes it'll form a crack

The water will rise quickly,
over the banks it will flood
Tearing, ripping, and destroying,
causing destruction, spilling blood

To each person The River differs
With time, changes are made
The enemy can cause erosion
and the waters began to fade

Muddy with deceptive influence
or perfect clarity, to vision
How The River flows is ultimately,
each persons own decision

The River can be very short,
where it comes to an abrupt end
or it can form a tributary,
where a new life will begin

So, when you follow this river,
The River that we call "Life"
May your journey flow freely,
devoid of pain and strife

Don't let the water become polluted,
with corruption and decay
Live your life to the,
fullest every single day

Waterflow

Waterflow

Water falls in drops of liquid pearl
 Landing on my head first
Then down my nose and my shoulders
 Dripping down my members.

In thirst I lift my head up to drink
 The water descends cleansing
Taking in its flow all the toxins
And leaves a revived sense of being.

The words You softly whisper in my mind
Are like water of the purest kind
They take away my fears at night
And make me feel so alive.

For Your love is like a spring of life
That ever flows from on high.

Bathing Beauty

Breathe laden islands rise and fall
beneath the steam graced surface of clear water,
capped with rosettes, red-brown, silken, warm,
beaded with water running in rivers
down mountainsides of flesh, puddling,
in the darken depression of navel.

The water rises, about kneecaps
pristine and alabaster in hue.
Angular shoulders hug the far end of the tub.
A slender neck held aloft, crowned with auburn hair
and hazel eyes, changling orbs, of green and gold
an a oval face rivaling Modigliani’s Madonna.

A ruddy glow spreads across high cheekbones.
The rising water submerges all,
but porcelain neck and upturned face,
tendrils, tresses, coil, splay on still water.

Lids droop languidly, lips pout petulantly,
and still the water rises
buoying delicate arms, ending in fingers
...avidly playing.. upon
the pearl white key to desire.

Idealism

Youthful dreams of very rich future
A life to enjoy planet's water pure
Kingdoms and powers are offered to him
As he drinks crystal (clear) water filled to brim

Lush green grass grows wild by the cool clear stream
Softens the pleasant place to dream his dream
Most beautiful place on this hemisphere
Will remain when thoughtful living adhere

The dream he dreams is to rule the whole earth
Where live in a great gold gilded city he'll birth
Then he changes goes wild having his fling
Soon forget reasons for his rule to bring

Lost in the power, influence, shiny gold
If only __a different story told

Fancy Hair

I turned on the water sprinkler under the Weeping Willow
A fine stream it did spray
The tree was lacking the nourishment that it gets from water
For it has not rained much in many days

As I was working in my kitchen and viewing the scene
Along came a male Red Cardinal
On a rose bush he did preen
Just close enough to the water to receive a fine spray

When he was water coated, he flew away
Up into the Weeping Willow and puffed his feathers out
Shook his tiny body as a dog after taking a bath
Then he sat in the Weeping Willow and rested for a spell

Before he had time to dry, a Black Bird
Landed on a Weeping Willow limb
Just close enough to the spray to get his shower today
Very intelligent these birds of the yard

Knowing how to refresh and clean their feathers
Sometimes I wonder if they are not more intelligent
Than some of the humans that have big brains
And fancy hair....

(I'll call it free verse for no other reason than I don't know where else it would fit.)

The Purest Music

One fine day as I was traversing the green,
in the last throes of Autumns' twilight.
I sat upon a flat stone,
overlooking a trilling brook,
to ponder the meaning of life.
As I sat ,and thought,
the soft chimes of music,
from the water spirits,
lulled me into a dream state.
Some where in that liquid crystal,
stubborn stones are worn smooth,
by the passage of time.
Elsewhere the fluidous mercury,
rushes toward a cleft ,
a water fall.
Bringing forth melodies,
never to be reproduced ,
by mere human hands.
As my lids grow heavy,
I'm awakened by the flash of silver,
denizens ,
silhouetted by the last rays of the setting sun..
With regret its time to leave,
as I turn to go ,
a misty rainbow is captured ,
by the fading beams of light.
I smile, at peace,
the promise ,
the sun will once again ,
eclipse the horizon.

Holocaust

In midst of night,
When I was deep in slumber,
The memory rattled,
Eyes sunk with fear,
Saw the houses crumble,
The trees tremble,
The thunder storm made me nimble,
The ocean in fumble,
Tried to reach me and hug me in grumble.

I went slowly to the balcony,
Tried to reach out to see this mesmerized agony,
The agony was far from imagination,
It’s a terrifying situation,
God is slowly destroying its creation.

The waves shook the landscape,
The geography is jeopardized,
The houses drowned,
And with it are the people,
Cries of the birds,
Made the atmosphere filled with shrill,
The painful and subdued voice of the animals,
Made it sure of their fatal deaths.

The water is beneath,
Thunderstorm is above it,
No place for shelter,
The houses gradually decreased,
With water slowly increased,

I saw human beings floating in it,
I knew some of them, were also in it,
Saw the animals gradually going deep in it,
Trees are getting shaved,
Houses are getting razed,
The plateau near my house is gone beneath.

The things happened so quickly,
And it was so horrifying,
that I forgot my own situation,
Now I am in pain and sorrow,
for what I have seen slowly,
Happening beneath my eyes.

With this grief and agony in my heart,
I turned back to get inside the house,
But I was knee deep in water,
And the water is rising faster,
I am late in making my action,
Now my life and my existence is in jeopardy,
And with the flashes of the scenes running back and forth,
Made me cripple,
I wasn’t able to run,
I gradually gave up to the faith,

But when I saw the death creeping near to me,
A terrible fear ran through me,
My face became pale,
And the blood started drying up,
I started weeping and prayed to spare me,
But a dark shadow engulfed me,
And a terrible wave galloped me.

I was desperately moaning,
Then suddenly my eyes opened,
My bed was completely dripping from the sweat,
For few minutes I couldn’t make out what’s going on,
But then I realized that it was a dreadful dream.
I closed my eyes and prayed to God,
Thanked him that it was a dream.

Clinging To A Memory

A quiet stream in a secret place
I look in the water and see your face
Sitting here beside me
The way we were before you left me
You touched my hand so tenderly
And promised this was how we’d always be
And now I sit here all alone
With just a memory to cling on
Foolish one they would say
Did you really think he would stay
He was never yours one would say
And your foolish heart drove him away
Now I sit in a world of my own
Sitting here all alone
Maybe they were right but look there in the water I see
His face smiling up at me
He has come back to me
But alas t is the last thing I see

Today at the beach

Waves crash down on the rocks reducing them to sand
Then sweeps them away to some far off land
The wave roll in covering my feet in sand
In the concept of time I wonder just who I am?

I gaze before me the vastness of the sea
Represents all the possibilities inside of me
I can’t think of any place I would rather be
I have trouble describing there’s so much to see.

I walk out to the rocks to find some treasure
I find many starfish much to my pleasure
It seems that the only way to go is up
So I step up and take a drink from life’s cup.

Peace and tranquility fill me inside
While the waves provide a pretty good ride
The water is cool and so refreshing
All of the pieces seem to be meshing.

A seagull in the water and gets hit by a wave
I dawn a smile and feel I am saved
I like how the sky melts into the sea
Over the horizon sounds like the place to be.

The adventure I’m on may never be through
Sometimes I’m not sure what I should do
I just press on and see what shall become
I like what I see so I try to grab some.

Adrift

Floating as jetsam;
Cast overboard
From a capsized vessel.

The derelict ship
Drifts further away,
Swallowed by dense fog.

Bobbing in darkness.
Unseen sea creatures
Writhe out of sight.

Waves rise as spikes,
Thundering down
In crushing attacks.

Gripped by slick tendrils
That squeeze and ooze
Across bare skin.

Flung like a doll,
Smashing to detritus
Against the cliff face.

Greedily devoured
By ravenous piranhas.
Bones picked clean by vultures.

The Downward Spiral (with a nod to NIN)

She sees herself suddenly as a small girl
bare feet on the cold black and white tile
little toes curled
sees the white porcelain tub and
how pretty the light blue water was
so deep it almost came to her chin
as she climbed in

For hours she'd play with her dime store sailboat
loving it though it would hardly float
always taking on water
listing, never level
her wet skinny back hunched over
shoulder blades like primordial wings
every few minutes she'd have to shake the thing

Trying desperately not to break the spell
of pretend
and when
it was time to let the water out
she'd always stay to watch the water drain
weighing the emotional pain
both fascinated and horrified,
as the suction intensified,
by the force of the water
the unstoppable slaughter
waiting for the inevitable rotation
to begin
the dizzying spin

Slowly at first growing faster and faster
a miniature cyclonic water disaster

The dime store boat of course on its side
circling faster in the relentless tide

Then the drain would give a horrible belch
much satisfied with itself.

As she grew the tub got smaller
with shallower water
less and less room
for pretend to bloom.

Years later, dime store sailboat long forgotten,
life having been mostly rotten
working with the most cynical of cynics
ER nurses bitter that it's more like a clinic
runny noses and coughs that folks thought were urgent
working hard to save those who were truly emergent

Hearing from them the phrase: "circling the drain"
memories suddenly flooding the brain
almost able to feel herself as that young girl
watching the sailboat beginning to swirl

Feeling the blood drain, face going pale
she sees vividly the boat with its bright red sail
yellow hull and blue plastic deck
fine hairs rising on the back of her neck

She realizes now the fatigue of age
is from fighting the pull with defiant rage

The closer you get, the faster you spin
and soon the dark whirlpool draws you in

With a knowledge that seems to be purely primal
she now understands the downward spiral

And she knows that she will not put up a fight
she'd rather go silently in the dark of the night

And the dime store boat comes to rest on its side
so it's all come full circle at the end of the ride.

Suicide

From a beam he dangled as the rope choked out his breath
So very soon to end his life as he does the dance of death.
The grandma sees her grandson and has to take him down
She lays him on the carpet that is colored brown.

High up on a structure eyes are starring down
Will blackout over come him before he hits the ground;
The morbid and the curious have finally gone away
There’s only those who clean the mess, it's just another day.

Dinner on the table with plate and fork and knife
The only thing that's swallowed is a pill to end her life.
Who said that it is painless have they looked around the room
The pain does carry on and on far beyond the doom.

With a knife the cut was made now blood spills on the floor
Soon the shadows of the dark will come in through the door.
    Who said there are no victims; reactions carry on;
This tragedy repeats it’s self; through days that take too long
    .
With rocks put in her pockets in water not so high
She sucks the water to her lungs that's how she chose to die.
The husband of Virginia Wolf, now he knows too well
His days are filled with misery and his life's a living hell.

Desperate to escape he points the pistol to his head
The triggers pulled, a roar goes off; and just like that he's dead.
When she opened up the door she saw the pieces of his brain
The blood in puddles on the floor; was like water from the drain.

Blood is on her shirt; where she held him for too long
But it's simply far too late the life in him is gone.
Who says that it is painless have they looked around the room
I know the pain does carry on and on far beyond the doom.

    .

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

If finding yourself means going it alone, You shouldn’t—a fact that is painfully plain. Need is a naturally human bemoan, A collaboration helps you remain, a Friend to those who also have needs to atone. I'm clearing a path, a push straight ahead, Sailing stress free in my life stem to stern. Right where I should be, clarity widespread, Behind me no wake or substantive churn. Like all things in life from which one must glean, A period of time flowing under Bridge where it is swept quite far out to sea, Over vastness like far distant thunder Troubled and troubles, mere seconds they flee Water healing life’s fires placed asunder. I promise you one fact I now cherish Will power alone is power itself, so Ease your mind with the faith you’ll not perish Your success assured, fear placed on the shelf Mind over matter, peace you’ll inherit. © David Wegman 2014 Submitted for Roy Jerden’s Poetry Contest: “Bridge Over Troubled Water - Word Acrostic”
